Charlie Sheen In S. Fla. For ‘Winning’ Tour
Sheen, who kept an awfully high profile over the past month yakking to TV interviewers, ranting on YouTube and tweeting on an hourly basis, performed Saturday night at the Bank Atlantic Center in Sunrise. But his arrival wasn’t without some opposition. A small group of women gathered outside the BankAtlantic Center to protest his arrival chanting, “Stop degrading women. Go home Charlie Sheen.” While in Fort Lauderdale this weekend, Sheen tweeted, “Fort Lauderdale: I love this weather and I love this city. Where are
my cadres? I’m giving away tickets. Who needs a pair for tonight?” His tour titled “My Violent Torpedo of Truth/Defeat is Not an Option” kicked off in Detroit and had been getting mixed reviews, with crowd members booing him and walking out.The 45-yearold unemployed actor asked people to “buy your ticket” and “take the ride” and warns that “if you’re winning, I’ll see you there” and “trolls need not apply.”Sheen’s live 20-city road show runs through May 3.
Dolphins’ Brandon Marshall Out Of Hospital, Wife Out Of Jail
Michi Nogami-Marshall was arrested and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon Friday night after she stabbed the football player at their Southwest Ranches home, according to the police report. Brandon Marshall was in intensive care Saturday morning, but was released from the hospital by 3 p.m. Saturday. Michi Marshall bonded out of jail earlier in the day. She said nothing to reporters who asked her about the police report indicating she had stabbed Marshall in self defense. Public records show his 37-year-old wife was booked into the Broward County Jail after she was arrested in Southwest Ranches Friday night. The aggravated battery charge listed on her inmate information form filed with Broward Sheriff Office has a “domestic violence” notation. Her bond was set at $7,500. According to the arrest report, Michi Marshall
“did unlawfully and intentionally arm herself with a kitchen knife and stab the victim in the abdomen.” League sources said told ESPN’s Adam Schefter that the Dolphins’ star receiver was taken to Broward General Hospital by car, not ambulance, after 911 was called, and underwent surgery late Friday night for a stab wound to the stomach. Marshall wanted to come home from the hospital Saturday but doctors wanted to keep him there to guard against infection, the sources said. Marshall was eventually released from the hospital Saturday afternoon.
Florida Cornerback Janoris Jenkins Arrested On Pot Charge
For a third time in a year, Janoris Jenkins has been arrested. The latest arrest occurred early Saturday when police say he was spotted sitting in a parked car smoking a marijuana cigar. The Gainesville police report says the Florida cornerback was arrested for possession of marijuana less than 20 grams, which is considered a misdemeanor. He was released after signing a notice to appear in court on May 12. In January, Jenkins was arrested on the same charge. In that case, he accepted a plea deal and paid $316. In May of 2009, he was arrested during a downtown fight. He agreed to probation and community service for that incident. University officials did not immediately comment on the case Saturday.

oore's Law -the dictum that the number of transistors on a circuit will double every two years -- has proved remarkably accurate since it was decreed by Intel co-founder Gordon Moore in 1965 but may be nearing its expiration, says Professor Steve Furber of the University of Manchester. "The rate of progress is finally
beginning to show signs of slowing down," he told The Daily Telegraph. "The economics are beginning to bite. ... There are about 10 years to go before we reach the absolute limit. People have been saying that for 30 years, but this time I think it's probably right." Furber designed the first ARM processor for Acorn Computers in the 1980s. Its successors now run most smartphones and
tablet computers. The most advanced processors now have transistors only 100 to 150 atoms across. Designing such a microchip takes hundreds of man-years of work and soon may not be financially worthwhile. Furber says the future is in parallel computing, where problems are split and solved simultaneously by different microchips.

While Prince William, 28, acknowledges the importance of tradition and has invited many of the dignitaries that you would expect at such a ceremony, he has demonstrated that he is as comfortable with the modern world of celebrities, as was his mother, Diana, Princess of Wales. Her friend, Sir Elton John, will be at Westminster Abbey with his civil partner, David Furnish, but the Prince has invited several famous figures with whom he has become good friends himself. Joss Stone, a 24 year-old soul singer from Devon, will be at the abbey. She has proved a big hit in the past with the Prince, who warmly embraced her at an event to honour the Armed Forces in 2008. Guy Ritchie, the director of such gangster films as Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch, has been invited. The former husband of Madonna was, Mandrake understands, first introduced to the Prince by William Duckworth-Chad, whose sister, Davina, is a friend and former holiday companion of the Prince. Mr Duckworth-Chad was the estate agent who handled the sale of Ashcombe, Sir Cecil Beaton’s house in Wiltshire, which Madonna and Ritchie bought in 2001. David and Victoria Beckham are thrilled to have been given invitations. As president of the Football Association, the Prince has met the footballer on several occasions. They worked together as ambassadors of England’s unsuccessful bid to host the 2018 World Cup.Another prominent sportsman on the list is Ian Thorpe, the Australian Olympic swimmer, who
met William during a royal visit to the Antipodes last year. Mario Testino, the Peruvian photographer, who took some of the most memorable pictures of Diana, will be at the abbey. He shot Kate and William’s official engagement photographs. Another familiar face will be Tara Palmer-Tomkinson, the television presenter and socialite, who has had her nose corrected for the occasion. The proboscis, which was rebuilt in 2006 after years of cocaine abuse, had collapsed. Happily, she is now a reformed character. The Prince has made room for some of those who have suffered in recent conflicts. L/Cpl Martyn Compton, of the Household Cavalry, has been invited. He was injured in an ambush in Afghanistan in 2006 that left him with 75 per cent burns, as well as the loss of his ears and nose. He is a friend and colleague of William, having served alongside him in D Squadron of the Household Cavalry. Another guest will be Holly Dyer, whose sister, Lt Joanna Dyer, was killed by a bomb in Iraq in 2007. Lt Dyer was a close friend of William at Sandhurst. Also at the abbey will be Susie Roberts, the widow of Major Alexis Roberts, who was killed in Afghanistan in 2007. Major Roberts was the Prince’s platoon commander at Sandhurst. Tom Bradby, the ITV journalist, who conducted Kate and William’s engagement interview, is invited. He prompted the ongoing phonehacking scandal involving The News of the World when he told the police in 2005 about his well-founded suspicions that his voicemail messages for the Prince had been intercepted.
The official list, parts of which were released yesterday, is as interesting for whom it leaves out. While William’s uncle, Earl Spencer, will attend with his latest fiancée, Karen Gordon, the peer’s second wife, Caroline, Countess Spencer, will not be there. It can be disclosed that Caroline, who was kind and supportive to William as he grew up, was invited. However, the countess, who divorced Charles Spencer in 2009 after much acrimony, decided that her presence at the abbey near the father of two of her children and his new fiancée would be too awkward. St James’s Palace yesterday also released the official seating plan in the abbey. The Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall will be seated on the front row of the South Lantern. Opposite them will be Miss Middleton’s parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, with Earl Spencer and his sisters Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Lady Jane Fellowes. A fashion designer who will be conspicuous by her absence is Daniella Helayel. Despite speculation to the contrary, the Brazilian has not been invited or designed the bridal gown. Rowan Atkinson, the friend of the Prince of Wales, who played a bumbling vicar in Four Weddings and a Funeral, has won an invitation. However, Joan Rivers, the American comedienne, who is a friend of the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall and attended their wedding reception at Windsor Castle in 2005, has not made the final cut. Let’s hope that the acid-tongued Rivers sees the funny side.

Preventing an Affair Research varies in the study of infidelity. When researchers send out questionnaires. asking men and women if they have ever cheated, men seem to brag about their supposed infidelities. But women minimize, lie and cover up their affairs. Social anthropologist Helen Fisher says this is for a good reason – women have traditionally suffered more than men from the revelation of infidelity. Women can lose their children, their financial support and even risk domestic violence as a result. Almost half of those in committed relationships cheat at some point. And a staggering 98% of people have fantasies of people other than their mate. With the prevalence of social networks like Facebook, it is easier than ever to act out those fantasies, either online or in real time.
4 Reasons Why Women Cheat
Tell them what you appreciate in your marriage with them and what you long for. Have regular, open conversations and share your feelings. If you’re like most people, you may find the idea daunting at best. And yet it is easier to be honest with your partner if you have agreed that this is the rule for your relationship. Communication about honest attraction or feeling for another should be viewed as normal and not threatening unless it is kept under wraps. It is only then that the fantasy becomes something larger than life, and may lead to sneaky behaviors and hiding it. This is what leads to cheating, Vaughn says. Next time you meet someone attractive, appreciate them too, but make sure you keep the communication open with your partner. Check in daily about how you are doing in the relationship. Make it a priority, and then enjoy each other and be kind. You may find that you are one of the lucky ones to be in a committed monogamous relationship with your very best friend. Tammy Nelson, PhD is a sex and relationship expert and the author of “Getting the Sex You Want; Shed Your Inhibitions and Reach New Heights of Passion Together”, as well as the upcoming book “The New Monogamy; Erotic Recovery After Infidelity”.
myamimagazine.com
Why Do People Cheat? Interestingly, people rarely leave their spouse for the person they are cheating with. And for those that do, there is a very high divorce rate; over 75%, probably because it is hard to trust a person who was willing to cheat on their partner, even if it was with you. So, if affairs don’t really work, why do people have them and can they be prevented? Contrary to popular belief, affairs do not always happen when people are unhappy in their relationship. Steve Stosny,
therapist and author, says that eighty percent of affairs happen because of opportunity. If this is true, then it doesn’t matter how often you have sex with your spouse or whether or not you take out the garbage, your marriage is at risk for infidelity. Cutting out friends of the opposite sex doesn’t work, nor does restricting time on the internet. And affairs don’t always happen to the people who are morally ‘wrong’. In 2004 82% of respondents to a survey said that affairs were always wrong. And yet one study shows that up to one-half of married women have at least one lover after they are married before the age of 40. So someone must be the “type” to cheat, even if they think they’re not. Preventing infidelity may be as simple as – and this seems obvious – telling the truth. Peggy Vaughn, author of the Myth of Monogamy, says that in order for couples to avoid an affair they first have to accept that it is natural and normal to be attracted to other people. And if you find yourself fantasizing about someone other than your spouse, you should tell. That means being honest about your feelings, not using the specific details to hurt your spouse, but open and honest about your concerns before they turn into something more.

History The "dream village" that founder Robert C. Graham envisioned so many years ago continues to prosper and thrive today. The vision for this subtropical paradise began in 1929 when Miami Beach Heights, a Detroit-based real estate development corporation purchased the raw land. Headed by industrialist Graham with associates Carl Fisher and Walter O. Briggs, Miami Beach Heights began the task of crafting a new community. Perhaps most significantly, they hired one of the leading urban planning firms of the twentieth century - Harland Bartholomew & Associates - to design the Village. Bal Harbour and Coral Gables are the only MiamiDade municipalities that were built with a fully conceived master plan in place. From the beginning, the Village was envisioned as a modern
myamimagazine.com
April 1946 Robert Graham and founders study early plans community that would maintain exceptionally high standards, provide superior services and foster civic pride. The advent of World War II brought plans to an abrupt halt and Graham, in patriotic gesture, leased to the land to the United States Air Corps for $1 a year. The area became a center of year-round training complete with barracks and a rifle range located on the site of the Sheraton Bal Harbour Beach Resort. A prisoner-of-war camp, located on the current site of Bal Harbour Shops, housed German prisoners. Soldiers stationed up and down Miami Beach marched north to the area, known as "tent city," for maneuvers. After the war ended and the troops departed, development plans resumed in earnest. Graham quickly
converted some of the barracks into apartments to boost the resident population - the State of Florida then required twenty-five males to qualify for incorporation.. In 1945, Stanley Whitman (who was later to build Bal Harbour Shops) moved into the barracks with his young family in order to
support the Village's incorporation efforts and was one of the original founders of Bal Harbour. On August 14, 1946 the Village was incorporated and the first Council elected. The roster for the first Council: Mayor Judge Julian Southerland and Councilmen Charles R. Graham, Glenn E. Massnick, Ray Semmes, Jr., Willard H. Webb and George Whittaker. Willard Webb was the first Village Manager and Mary Wetterer, the first Village Clerk, remained at her post for more than forty years. The Village was first called "Bay Harbour," a name that was soon discarded as not properly defining a community with oceanfront property. A new word was created, taking letters from 'bay" and "Atlantic" to create "Bal." Thus Bal Harbour, a new town encompassing bay and ocean, was named. The fledgling government was housed in converted military barracks until the current Village Hall was built in 1956. Bolstered by Miami's post war prosperity, Bal Harbour's growth escalated with the rapid sale of residential lots, the development of community resources and the construction of hotels. In December 1946, the first hotel opened for business - Kenilworth-by-theSea. Described as "ultra-modern," the 160-room ten-story Kenilworth promoted the concept of "luxurious leisure." Over the next decade, a total of nine resorts would line the Village's beachfront as the Sea View, the Bal Harbour, the Balmoral, the
Ivanhoe, the Colony, the Singapore, the Beau Rivage and the Americana all held court. At the height of South Florida's hotel boom, these worldclass resorts attracted a steady stream of upscale clientele and helped put Bal Harbour on the map. In the 1950's, Bal Harbour and Miami Beach were considered America's Riviera, a magnet for the era's top musicians and entertainers. Count Basie and Guy Lombardo could be seen having drinks at the Ivanhoe's Pump Room Lounge. Frank Sinatra and his "Rat Pack" frequented the Americana's Carnival Supper Club. In 1953, Arthur Godfrey brought considerable media attention to the area when he was the first entertainer to televise nationally from our area. He broadcast to his radio and television audience, estimated at between 40 and 60 million, from the Kenilworth Hotel. Other television personalities would follow suit over the years including Jackie Gleason and Ed Sullivan. Bal Harbour's hotels quickly became the chosen destination for countless dignitaries, celebrities, and presidents. Many important events and national conventions took place at Bal Harbour's hotels, and the Americana Hotel - which became the Sheraton Bal Harbour in 1980 - was an ideal location. Designed by Morris Lapidus and built by the Tisch family in the 1950's, it was one of the most glamorous resorts in South Florida. The Americana hosted three nationally televised AFL-CIO Constitutional Conventions - in 1961 with President Kennedy at the podium, in 1967 with President Johnson, and 1971 with President
Nixon. The Sheraton was President Clinton's favorite hotel when in town, and one of the venues for 1994's Summit of the Americas. Likewise, the discreetly luxurious Sea View Bal Harbour Hotel has drawn its share of notables, from David Brinkley, Bob Dole, Howard Baker, Hubert Humphrey, Tip O'Neil, Thomas Dewey, and Boris Yeltsin to the likes of Debbie Reynolds and Bob Dylan and many Latin American television stars. At the same time, a quiet residential community was evolving with lovely homes and apartments bringing newcomers each year. In 1947, the Church by the Sea was built, designed by Miami architect Russell Pancoast. Community activities for families, such as arrival of a truckload of snow so that children could play and build snowmen, became part of the Village tradition. In 1957 real estate developer Stanley Whitman (with a vision that few understood), purchased sixteen acres that were originally planned as the site for a gas
station and grocery store. "Only my mother believed in my plan," stated Whitman of his concept for creating a luxury shopping mall. At the time, the once elegant and upscale Lincoln Road had declined tremendously and Whitman was adamant that a new high-fashion center located in Bal Harbour could thrive. Further bucking trends, he insisted that the mall be openair, including lush landscaping

Bal Harbour’s Secret Is Out Bal Harbour Shops, The American Home of Upscale Fashion Here’s a test for all you shopping aficionados. Where in the world can you find 100 of the leading international designer boutiques all in one convenient place? A clue: it’s not Madison Avenue in New York, Causeway Bay in Hong Kong or the Champs- Elysées in Paris. Second question: where did Lanvin recently open its first freestanding boutique in the U.S.? The answer to both questions might come as a surprise to even the most committed fashionista – Bal Harbour Shops in Bal Harbour, Florida. Conveniently located a block from the beach at the northern tip of Miami Beach, Bal Harbour Shops has been Florida’s most exclusive shopping destination for over 40 years. Its collection of 100 boutique stores include the crème de la crème of international brands from Cartier and Chanel, Dior to Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci and Bottega Veneta. Celebrities like Jennifer Lopez, Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Shakira, Justin Timberlake and Lenny Kravitz have become regular visitors and the reputation, along with the rest of Bal Harbour, is growing. The story starts back in 1965 when a local developer, Stanley Whitman, decided to transform a former army barracks into the country’s greatest upscale retail center. His peers thought he was crazy, especially when he shunned the conventional
design of shopping centers (enclosed air-conditioned malls with free parking) and built a beautiful, open-air space with lush landscaping, Zen-like tranquility (and paid parking). But Whitman proved to be a visionary and, from the outset, Bal Harbour Shops was a magnet for the big brands. "From the first day we were a howling success," says Stanley, who at 92 is still involved in the familyowned business. In 1971 Neiman Marcus chose Bal Harbour Shops as its first location outside of Texas, then in 1976 Saks Fifth Avenue arrived, making Bal Harbour Shops the first mall to have both. The word spread and the international brands poured in. Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Valentino, Van Cleef & Arpels, Giorgio Armani, Yves St. Laurent, Prada, Audemars Piguet, and most recently Roger Vivier, chose Bal Harbour Shops for their premier U.S. store outside of New York City. Today, nobody can doubt the Shops’ runaway success. Since the day it opened, it has produced the highest average sales per square foot of any mall in the U.S. Even in 2009, when national retail sales were languishing, stores like Hermès reported sales in its Bal Harbour store were up more than 17 percent. In fact, Bal Harbour Shops’ 2009 sales figures were four times the national average. And in January 2010, they showed a 23 percent increase over
January 2009 sales. In the best of times and worst of times, it remains the most productive shopping mall in the country. But Bal Harbour Shops owes its remarkable success to more than its unmatched lineup of top brands. Thanks to Whitman’s vision and the resulting design, it’s also unmatched as a shopping experience. Visitors stroll the shaded lanes, past fountains and palms, stopping to recharge in the six restaurants and coffee bars. Its eateries range from La Goulue, designed in the classic style of a 1900s Parisian bistro, to Carpaccio, an Italian eatery and favorite for celebrity sightings. The Shops also hosts many of Bal Harbour’s monthly cultural events from live music to author appearances to art exhibits. Then there are the surrounding attractions of Bal Harbour itself. The beach runs for 750 feet of uninterrupted white sand, scattered with cabanas for shade and lapped by clear water that is perfect for swimming. Further burnishing the destination’s allure, there are exciting programs for guests and residents that range from the Beach Fitness Program to an innovative Kids Club, developed in partnership with the Miami Children’s Museum. parking structure. Despite resistance to his ideas and many obstacles, the Shops opened in 1965 with thirty upscale, mostly New York-based tenants. The venture was immediately successful and soon thereafter, Whitman enticed Stanley Marcus to open his first Neiman Marcus outside of Texas. Saks Fifth Avenue and other high-end retailers followed suit. Bal Harbour was the first mall location for Cartier and Bulgari and the first ventures outside of New York for Louis Vuitton, Prada and Sergio Rossi. Today, celebrating forty years in business, Bal Harbour Shops is recognized as the industry leader and, according to Women's Wear Daily, is the "number one most productive shopping center in the United States." Stanley Whitman is now widely acknowledged as 'the Walt Disney of luxury retailing,' having created his own magical kingdom… the ultimate destination for shoppers. Bal Harbour Shops has become a role model for developers and continues to be a key element in defining Bal Harbour Village's style and elegance. A major challenge that South Florida has faced through the years is the erosion of its beaches through storm and hurricane damage. The Village Council, realizing the importance of maintaining beach quality, was aggressive in exploring and researching options for restoration projects that were ahead of their time. Their initiatives were innovative and many neighboring municipalities followed this lead. In 1968 the Council passed a resort tax initiative (an effort Stanley Whitman is credited with spearheading). This successful venture established critical resources for the Village's multi-million dollar beach restoration efforts. It provided funds for maintenance and enhancement of the Village through the taxation of tourists. As a result (and at no cost to Bal Harbour residents), major landscaping and beautification projects continue to be carried out and maintained each year. As economic and real estate dynamics shifted, many hotel owners opted to convert their properties into condominiums. This has led to a whole new residential landscape for the Village, continuing to attract newcomers from all over the world that aspire to live the Bal Harbour lifestyle. The new ONE Bal Harbour was re-branded in June of 2009, becoming the northern gateway to the Village. This is the first new hotel to be built in the Village in fifty years. The Sheraton Bal Harbour was demolished in November of 2006, making way for the new St. Regis Bal Harbour Resort and Residences (scheduled to open in 2012). Today, the Village continues its legacy of superior service. Those hired to manage and run the Village often remain for decades and many current staff members have been on board for more than twenty years. From the very beginning, Village founders thoughtfully master-planned this model community and it has evolved into an internationally renowned place to live and visit. As stated by founder Robert Graham more than sixty years ago, "We have only one objective. We want to make this village, with its unusual advantages of ocean and bay and South Florida climate, a lovely place to live."

Ingredients * 3 eggplants, peeled and cut lengthwise into 1/2 inch thick slices * salt * 1/4 cup olive oil * 1 tablespoon butter * 1 pound lean ground beef * salt to taste * ground black pepper to taste * 2 onions, chopped * 1 clove garlic, minced * 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon * 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg * 1/2 teaspoon fines herbs * 2 tablespoons dried parsley * 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce * 1/2 cup red wine * 1 egg, beaten * 4 cups milk * 1/2 cup butter * 6 tablespoons all-purpose flour * salt to taste * ground white pepper, to taste * 1 1/2 cups freshly grated Parmesan cheese * 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
cinnamon, nutmeg, fines herbs and parsley. Pour in the tomato sauce and wine, and mix well. Simmer for 20 minutes. Allow to cool, and then stir in beaten egg. 3. To make the bechamel sauce, begin by scalding the milk in a saucepan. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Whisk in flour until smooth. Lower heat; gradually pour in the hot milk, whisking constantly until it thickens. Season with salt, and white pepper. 4. Arrange a layer of eggplant in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Cover eggplant with all of the meat mixture, and then sprinkle 1/2 cup of Parmesan cheese over the meat. Cover with remaining eggplant, and sprinkle another 1/2 cup of cheese on top. Pour the bechamel sauce over the top, and sprinkle with the nutmeg. Sprinkle with the remaining cheese. 5. Bake for 1 hour at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Spanakopita

Directions 1. Lay the slices of eggplant on paper towels, sprinkle lightly with salt, and set aside for 30 minutes to draw out the moisture. Then in a skillet over high heat, heat the olive oil. Quickly fry the eggplant until browned. Set aside on paper towels to drain. 2. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter and add the ground beef, salt and pepper to taste, onions, and garlic. After the beef is browned, sprinkle in the
Ingredients * 1/2 cup vegetable oil * 2 large onions, chopped * 2 (10 ounce) packages frozen chopped spinach - thawed, drained and squeezed dry * 2 tablespoons chopped fresh dill * 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour * 2 (4 ounce) packages feta
cheese, crumbled * 4 eggs, lightly beaten * salt and pepper to taste * 1 1/2 (16 ounce) packages phyllo dough * 3/4 pound butter, melted Directions 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). 2. Heat vegetable oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Slowly cook and stir onions until softened. Mix in spinach, dill and flour. Cook approximately 10 minutes, or until most of the moisture has been absorbed. Remove from heat. Mix in feta cheese, eggs, salt and pepper. 3. Separate one sheet of phyllo from the stack and evenly brush with a light coating of butter. Place another sheet of phyllo over the butter and press the two sheets together. Cut the layered phyllo dough into long strips about 3 inches wide. Keep the remaining phyllo covered with plastic wrap to keep it from drying out. 4. Lay out one strip of phyllo at a time on your work surface with one of the narrow ends close to you. Place a heaping tablespoon of filling 1 inch from the end closest to you. Fold the bottom right corner over the filling to the left edge to form a triangle. Fold the triangle up, bringing the point at the bottom left up to rest along the left edge. Turn the lower left corner over to touch the right edge. Continue turning the triangle over in this manner until you reach the end of the phyllo. Repeat with the remaining filling and phyllo dough. 5. Place filled phyllo dough triangles on a large baking sheet and brush with the remaining butter. Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown, 45 minutes to 1 hour.

Getting rid of plantar warts – in addition to getting rid of regular warts that form on top of the skin, banana peels may help reduce the pain and irritation of plantar warts located on the soles of the feet. The peel can be placed directly on the wart to help reduce inflammation and pain and restore the skin.

The skin condition can be treated with prescriptionstrength creams and moisturizers, but each person reacts to the products in a different way. The inside of the banana peel has been used to treat psoriasis for many years, and most people will see results within a few days and weeks. The skin is replenished with natural moisture, nutrients and compounds that reduce itchiness and help make scales disappear. Rubbing the inside of the peel on the affected area or areas once or twice per day may help relieve or eliminate the symptoms of psoriasis and restore the skin back to a healthy state.
Banana Peels for Managing Wrinkles Banana peels contain many nutrients and minerals that can help restore the skin. When applied across the forehead, they may also be a valuable headache treatment. Regularly pressing the inside of the peel on large areas of the skin such as the forehead or sides of the cheeks may help tighten up the skin and reduce the appearance of wrinkles. Results will not be instant, but the skin will look fresher, more toned and healthier. Additional Skin Benefits of Bananas The flesh of the banana can be used as an anti-wrinkle topical skin treatment and mashed banana is commonly used as a facial mask to brighten up the skin and clear up acne. Âź cup of mashed banana combined with honey and other antioxidantrich fruits can help detoxify

Surf the multisensory edges of time, space, culture and consciousness with legendary author/ anthropologist Carlos Castaneda and acclaimed American composer Michael Colgrass at SoBe Institute of the Arts’ groundbreaking music-theater experience Tales of Power. The production will open with a limited run from May 5 to May 15 at the SoBe Arts Little Stage Theater in Miami Beach. Adapted and directed by Executive Artistic Director Carson Kievman, this unique piece vividly conjures Castaneda’s magical tales of transformative change and personal power, set in the desert wilderness and metropolitan Mexico City with early 1970’s cult hero and Mesoamerican shaman Don Juan. This original multimedia production combines the extraordinary tone poem of Colgrass, a piano score featured in the SoBe Arts American Masterworks series, with new theatrical and sound elements and kinematic “magic lantern” effects. “SoBe Arts is excited to bring this iconic modern masterwork to Miami,” states Dr. Kievman. “It is a portal to another time and space, a definitive coming-of-age story that opened creative gateways for the Burning Man and Matrix generation.” Kievman praises the artistry of the Colgrass piano concert, with its richly counterpointing elements of mystery and down-to-earth tangibles, which draws a “Dyson Swarm” of inspiration from Castaneda’s coexistent world of spirit and body. Kievman’s theatrical adaptation is based on ideas evoked by the Colgrass music and Castaneda’s literary work: “Vapor trails of sound and light play off the characters, mirror the flow of attention and energy in our dreams, and create new ways of seeing and experiencing this world.” Virtual scenic design for this music and theater experience has been created by Carbonell award winner Sean McClelland. Mr. McClelland received critical acclaim for his recent work on August: Osage County and Les Misérables at the Actors Playhouse. He has also been the resident scenic designer and charge artist at the Broward Stage Door Theatre, and has worked on shows for the Mosaic Theatre, GableStage, the Flat Rock Playhouse, the Santa Fe Opera, and the Seaside Music Theatre. Tales of Power will feature pianist Robert Chumbley on a Steinway concert grand piano. A former student of Colgrass, Chumbley is a member of the SoBe Arts faculty, who performed the world premiere of this work. Mr. Chumbley’s concert appearances have taken him throughout Europe, Japan, the United States and Africa. He

Orleans date has been on his schedule for a while and is not a part of the tour, which begins May 12 in Phoenix.“New Orleans is just getting me,” McKnight said in a telephone interview with The Associated Press. “My one-man show. I’m coming to do what people haven’t seen from me. I’ll be telling a story, my story, from the beginning until now. People have heard me play with a band for the last 15, 20 years. This will be how I started, with a piano and a guitar.”McKnight’s latest project, entitled “Just Me,” is set for release July 12. He said the new music will give his fans some of his signature, silky smooth sounds, but will also give them a little something different. “For me it’s never about doing the same thing over and over,” he said. “I just do what I do.”McKnight acknowledges that his voice conjures romantic visions — especially in his female fans — and though most of his songs often tackle romance or the back-and-fourth of relationships, that’s not him all the time. “Unfortunately, I am the least romantic man ever,” he said laughing. “I’m a guy’s guy. But I’m not sure most women would want that `romantic’ person 24 hours a day anyway.
Too much of that would probably not be a good thing.”Still, he said, there’s a time and a place for his type of music.“My voice lends itself to singing a slower song,” he said. “I still believe when you want to get close to someone, it’s my type of music you put on. I doubt if they’re listening to Jay-Z at that moment — not that there’s anything wrong with Jay-Z. He’s great.” McKnight said he believes music these days “has lost its ability to connect emotionally with the listener Kris Kristofferson joins Stagecoach lineup By Sofia M. Fernandez Kris Kristofferson has joined the lineup for the 2011 Stagecoach Music Festival in Indio, California. The musician-actor takes over the slot vacated by Loretta Lynn, who backed out of the event due to a recent knee surgery. Kristofferson’s performance will kick off his upcoming tour. He performed at the inaugural Stagecoach festival in 2007. Stagecoach takes place April 30 and May 1 at the Empire Polo Club, the same venue where the Coachella Music and Arts Festival takes place each year.Kenny Chesney, Rascal Flatts and Carrie Underwood headline the festival, which also will feature performances by Darius Rucker, Leon Russell and Ricky Scaggs. George Harrison’s diaries to be published Unseen photographs, personal letters and diaries written by Beatles star George Harrison are to be published in an illustrated
history of his life. Harrison died of lung cancer in 2001 at the age of 58. His widow, Olivia Harrison, will reveal dozens of
previously unreleased documents from his personal archive for the book, which will hit shelves to coincide with Martin Scorsese’s upcoming film of the guitarist’s life. The book will also contain a foreword by Scorsese and will chart Harrison’s early years, his time in the Beatles and his later years as a solo musician. “Living in the Material World: George Harrison” is due for release in the autumn, at the same time as Scorsese’s film of the same name. Hazel Dickens, bluegrass performer, dies at 75 Hazel Dickens, a folk singer and bluegrass musician who advocated for coal miners, has died at age 75. Dickens died at a Washington hospice of complications from pneumonia. Her death was confirmed by
Ken Irwin, a founder of Rounder Records, her label for about 40 years. Dickens became a fixture in the bluegrass circuit in the 1960s and 1970s with her musical partner, Alice Gerrard. The duo performed as Hazel & Alice. They were among the first prominent women bluegrass performers. Dickens’s music was later featured in the 1976 Oscar-winning documentary, “Harlan County, USA,” about Kentucky coal miners. Irwin said Dickens will be remembered for giving voice to coal miners. Among her honors was a 2008 induction into the West Virginia Music Hall of Fame and a National Heritage Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts.

Let’s discuss dental implants
(dmd p.a. dn16609)
Replicating the natural function and appearance of your lost teeth can be very difficult to accomplish. Historically, dentures or bridge restorations would be used as replacements, but with limited results. Dental implants, however, are natural-looking replacements for missing teeth that also provide the same function as your natural tooth root. They have also been used to anchor these other types of restorations for greater success and patient satisfaction. A More Natural Approach
embedded into the soft tissue of the ears of rabbits. In 1952 the Swedish orthopedic surgeon, P I Brånemark, was interested in studying bone healing and regeneration, and adopted the Cambridge designed ‘rabbit ear chamber’ for use in the rabbit femur. Following several
A dental implant is a small, sturdy, titanium post that acts as the root structure would for a natural tooth. A dental implant is placed into your upper or lower jaw bone. After the bone has grown around the implant, implants can hold a crown, bridge or over-denture just like roots hold natural teeth in place. Implants are very durable and can last a lifetime. They require the same maintenance as natural teeth; this includes brushing, flossing and regular dental check-ups. A single tooth or a full arch of teeth which have been lost due to injury or disease can be replaced with dental RESTORATION implants. Titanium metal is used because of its compatibility with bone and oral tissues. Dental Implant History

>> by Dr Valeria Soltanik
The Mayan civilization has been shown to have used the earliest known examples of endosseous implants (implants embedded into bone), dating back over 1,350 years before Per-Ingvar Brånemark started working with titanium. While excavating Mayan burial sites in Honduras in 1931, archaeologists found a fragment of mandible of Mayan origin, dating from about 600 AD. This mandible, which is considered to be that of a woman in her twenties, had three toothshaped pieces of shell placed into the sockets of three missing lower incisor teeth. For forty years the archaeological world considered that these shells were placed after death in a manner also observed in the ancient Egyptians. However, in 1970 a Brazilian dental academic, Professor Amadeo Bobbio studied the mandibular specimen and took a series of radiographs. He noted compact bone formation around two of the implants which led him to conclude that the implants were placed during life. In the 1950s research was being conducted at Cambridge University in England to study blood flow in vivo. These workers devised a method of constructing a chamber of titanium which was then
months of study he attempted to retrieve these expensive chambers from the rabbits and found that he was unable to remove them. Per Brånemark observed that bone had grown into such close proximity with the titanium that it effectively adhered to the metal. Brånemark carried out many further studies into this phenomenon, using both animal and human subjects, which all confirmed this unique property of titanium. Dr. Leonard Linkow placed his first dental implant in 1952, four months after he graduated from dental school. By 1992, Dr. Linkow had placed over 19,000 dental implants and stopped counting. He retired from private practice in 2002 leaving a body of work that included 12 books and 36 patents. Many implant dentists refer to Dr. Linkow as the father of modern implant dentistry. Meanwhile an Italian medical doctor called Stefano Melchiade Tramonte, understood that titanium could be used for dental restorations and after designing a titanium screw to support his own dental prosthesis, started to use it on many patients in his clinic in 1959. The good results of his clinical studies on humans were published in 1966. Although Brånemark had originally considered that the first work should centre on knee and hip
surgery, he finally decided that the mouth was more accessible for continued clinical observations and the high rate of edentulism in the general population offered more subjects for widespread study. He termed the clinically observed adherence of bone with titanium
socket. Current evidence suggests that implants placed straight into an extraction socket have comparable success rates to those placed into healed bone. The success rate and radiographic results of immediate restorations of dental implants placed in fresh extraction sockets (the temporary crowns placed at the same time) have been shown to be comparable to those obtained with delayed loading (the crowns placed weeks or months later) in carefully selected cases. Some current research in dental implantology is focusing on the use of ceramic materials such as zirconia (ZrO2) in the manufacture of dental implants. Zirconia is the dioxide of zirconium, a metal close to titanium in the periodic table and with similar biocompatibility as ‘osseointegration’. In 1965 properties. horoscope ARIES (March 21-April 19): You’re apt to be too confident today. You don’t verify sources when you should. You trust information to make sense when you need to think critically about it from the beginning.
CANCER (June 21-July 22): You work around centralized authority because you feel you have a better understanding of the situation and can deal with it more effectively. Rules seem to defeat their own purpose.
TAURUS (April 20-May 20): You’re not accepting anyone’s claim to control you. Many may suffer from a desire to replace fill the leadership void but instead enjoy your free-floating situation and learn how to take charge of yourself.
LEO (July 23-Aug. 22): You work well in self-directing groups. Your particular talent lies in understanding what people fundamentally are wanting. You are able to direct the conversation to bring that out and give it definition.
GEMINI (May 21-June 20): You’re very relaxed and easy-going now. You need to take time off from recent agitation. Some may stay engaged in anti-authoritarian activities but in more subtle ways.
VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22): You like to connect with many people today but make each one personal. Disliking crowds and disliking intensity, you like getting in touch with different people one after another to confirm friendship.
LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22): You’re prone to be liberal with rather useless advice. Strive to be more present with people and more aware of their needs. Put a priority on evaluating practicality.
SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21): It’s important to associate with people who share important interests with you. It’s a good time to discuss plans without making firm commitments. You don’t feel you need permission. SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22Dec. 21): You suffer a loss of purpose today. It’s OK to relax and kick back; a purpose needn’t be productive. But if you have no direction intended, your actions are wasteful, the results uncertain. CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-
Jan. 19): Access your creativity today. This is an excellent day to bring out your thoughts and express them. It’s important to allow brainstorming - reduce the volume of your inner censor and act without regard to an external one. AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18): This is a good day to take a self-assessment. Avail yourself of tests for personality traits and career aptitude. With greater selfunderstanding comes a clearer direction in life. PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20): You enjoy freewheeling conversations today. There need be no agenda, no direction, no real purpose. Enjoyment, learning, connecting, getting things off your chest are all good in themselves.
