12 Ways to Keep Your NonRepackage your book content into To promote my humor book about Fiction Book In the News by Sandra Beckwith Publishers are willing to publicize nonfiction books when they’re released, but they rarely do much after the launch to keep books in the news, even though most deserve ongoing media exposure. Here are some easy things you can do to generate continuing publicity for your title. Use a mix of these ideas to develop a 12-month publicity plan that will provide the support your book needs.
by-lined trade magazine articles. Depending on the terms of your publishing contract, you might need to do some rewriting so it’s “new” material. Make sure the author credit at the end of the article includes your book title. Capitalize on holidays and special months, weeks and days by distributing a press release with useful, newsworthy information related to the topic, or by contacting the press to offer yourself as an expert information source. For example, many daily newspapers run articles in December about how the holidays are especially difficult for people who are grieving the recent loss of a loved one or facing the anniversary of a loss. This presents many coastto-coast interview opportunities for the author of a book on grief and loss – but only if the author reaches out to the press.
Turn the advice in your chapters into a series of monthly tip sheets. A tip sheet is a press release that offers tips or advice in a bulleted or numbered format. Start your tip sheet with an introductory paragraph that explains why the tips you’re offering are important, list your bulleted advice, then tie it all together at the end with a concluding paragraph. Send it to appropri- Contact the public relations departate media outlets; the distribution ment of your industry’s trade association to offer yourself for media list will depend on your topic. interviews. men, I conducted a “Worst Gift from a Man Contest.” The resulting press release led to nationwide media attention, including a holiday appearance on a national cable TV talk show. Push your publisher’s publicist to monitor ProfNet for reporter queries related to your topic all year. Alternatively, subscribe to ProfNet via its PR Leads reseller and respond to appropriate queries. A subscription via PRLeads.com is $99 per month. Monitor writer forums for source requests. Members frequently post requests on the magazines and newspapers forum for interview sources.
Tell the media when you’re visiting their market. Reporters love to interview experts who aren’t local, so if you’re in another city for any reason, contact the appropriate media people two weeks before your trip to offer ideas for articles they can write based on an in-person interview with you. If you’re in town to speak, send an announcement press release several weeks in advance and offer to do a pre-event telephone interview. Re-purpose your best tips into a free booklet. Write and distribute a press release that describes the booklet and how people can get a free copy; make sure both the booklet and the release include information about your book, too. Generating ongoing publicity is work, but it’s not rocket science. Invest the time so you boost sales while contributing to your author platform. You’ll see the rewards at the end of the year. -----------------------------------------------

Research And Consideraround for a relationship, and check- ation Of The Buying Cycle Can ing out other potential people to date, Improve Your Book Sales by Joseph C. Kunz Jr. Introduction Helping book shoppers, and your current followers, though the 3 stages of the buying cycle can dramatically improve your chances of making more book sales. If you understand what these 3 stages are about, and where the book shoppers are within that cycle, you will be able to fine-tune your marketing efforts, make them more effective, and improve your book sales. What Is The Buying Cycle? The buying cycle is simply the thought process, or stages, that shoppers travel through before making a final decision about what they will purchase, who they will purchase it from, and how much they will pay for it. Every shopper goes through these stages. These purchase decisions can take a few minutes, to many months, depending on what is being purchased. For example, a.99-cent eBook might take a book buyer one minute to make the decision to purchase. But a $25 book might take a few days. But as the author, you can provide information to your readers that will help them through the buying cycle, which will help persuade them that you are the best one to help them with their needs and wants. A Buying Cycle Analogy Look at the three stages like the dating process. Think of the bookbuyer as someone that you are interested in dating. First you want them to notice you, and realize that you are looking for a relationship.

Awareness In this initial stage, the consumer might or might not even know about you or your book. They also might, or might not, be aware of a need or problem that they have. But in this stage, they are starting to realize that they have a need that they might want to fulfill, or get help with a problem. They might have even come across your website by chance, and now realize that they have an interest in what you are saying because you and your words have stirred something inside them.
Conclusion This entire buying cycle is about getting the book-buyer to trust you, and to make an emotional connection with you. Each stage of the cycle gives you an opportunity to make a great impression on the buyer. If you understand how this process works within the mind of the buyer, and you use each stage to your advantage, you will be in a much better position to sell more books.

Recession-Proof Book Marketing Strategies By Jake Olvido The succeeding article is about Cost efficient book marketing, Book Marketing Strategies, Inexpensive marketing techniques, Economical book marketing and many other useful tips about book marketing. A recession-proof marketing strategy is characterized by the sustainability of the book marketing plan through these uncertain recession times and well into economic growth and betterment in the near future. The marketing strategy is not so much affected with the cumulative displacements of the predominantly difficult economic situation, as much as it adapts efficiently and functionally through it.
Maintain an effective yet inexpensive web presence. The Internet provides authors and publicists with plenty of cost saving marketing tools that are just as effective as offline book marketing campaigns. The online marketing techniques include advertising at free ad listing sites, blogging to genre relevant sites, registering at social networking sites, requesting and arranging for virtual book tours, uploading book "video-mercials" to video sharing sites, and sending online media releases.
Write and submit online articles with free reprint rights on a topic that is book genre relevant. This inexpensive marketing tool builds up, slowly but surely, an author's credibility and expertise of the given subject matter. It also provides the author with a web marketing presence that both online In simple terms, the marketing strate- researchers and book readers will apgy should be clear, feasible and practi- preciate. cal. Take a hint: a recession-proof book marketing strategy is something Market your books to non-traditional that is long lasting, something that will sources to get closer to your target transcend the ongoing recession. readers. Do a research on companies, Thus, a good book marketing strategy clubs, associations, organizations, also makes the book publicist work foundations and/or similar groups that are book genre specific and see if smarter, not more. there is a gold mine somewhere for Here are some recession-safe book marketing. In a time of economic recession, consumer spending behavior becomes prioritized and rather selective. For this, convince your readers why they should care at all in being engaged with your product, and for this purpose, you have to be an effective marketer without sounding too commercial.
Value your customers as you do prospects. No favoritism here, treat them equally because you are about to establish a crucial mass readership that you can rely, and who may just purchase your succeeding works as well.
Send emails with book excerpts to your relatives, friends, acquaintances, school alumni, and neighbors who have email addresses. Never underestimate the power of email to generate word-of-mouth marketing-even from among those whom you are already familiar with. From a marketing context, they are your "loyal audience". Follow it up by asking them to please send related emails to people they know who could also be interested in your book. You see, building a marketing pyramid-but without the fraud-can start in this precise manner.
Consign your book to relevant local shopkeepers and retailers. For a minimal consignment fee, your book is prominently displayed and instantly recognized. So you have a book about pet care? Your local pet shop is just around the corner. Have an illustrated book about flower varieties? The local florist may be more than willing to accommodate for a shelf display, a perfect compliment indeed for your book. Promote your book to school libraries. Regardless of your book genre, you can actually market to local or state level libraries, if you are able to determine which schools are regularly updating their catalogues with new book purchases and acquisitions. If there is favorable action to your proposal, offer a reciprocal arrangement for the book acquisition, like volunteering for free book reading sessions and creative writing discussions. Be consistent with your marketing plan. To save precious time, money and effort, study what works for your book subject; know your target market well by determining what's important to them and what influences them to make a purchase. Learn the success factors of fellow authors and analyze the recessional marketing trends to establish a well researched marketing plan. Decide early on whether your manuscript is promising enough for publishing houses to consider or you would rather self publish. Also, don't do social networking publicity online unless you're really motivated to do it. Don't do marketing stuff just because you think you're supposed to; you might end up wasting hard earned money and resources in this manner.

How to Launch Your eBook Using Social Media By Carolyn Cohn If you have been in business for any length of time at all, you probably have a large volume of content that you may use once and then forget about it. Of course, you can probably re-purpose the majority of your content (assuming that it is not time-sensitive). However, there is another way to leverage that fabulous content for everyone's benefit. You can turn some of your content into an eBook (or eBooks).
You also want the reviewers to give your eBook the maximum number of stars when they rate the book. It is all there on the page in Amazon when they write the review. Of course, that review then becomes a testimonial that you can use to promote your book further and to enhance your brand offerings.
Promoting your eBook means that you can take advantage of the large number of people who will be able to read your book online. eBooks are very easy for your readers to access and to review. It takes a minimum of effort and the entire process After you have taken a good look at the only takes a small amount of time. There content that you have in your repository, are several different ways that you can the next thing that you need to do is to promote your eBook through social media. choose all of the articles that are connected to each other. Of course, everything will be done online and social media is the vehicle that will work the most effectively to get the word out about your book and to create a buzz that will get people talking. Publishing and promoting an eBook is also a lot less expensive (in general) than a traditional book. Promotion is a lot more cumbersome with a traditional book than it is with an eBook as well. Once you have written your eBook and you are ready to publish it, there are a few different ways that you can publish. Amazon is a wonderful, easy, and inexpensive way to go. As far as your price point is concerned, you will not be charging very much for your eBook so you have a good chance that a large number of people will be willing to buy it.
Build a special landing page for your eBook: You can have a landing page on your website that is exclusively for your eBook. It will be designed to make it extremely easy for your readers to go from there to share your information with other people. It should include a personal message from you. That message should include a request to the people whom you are addressing to help spread the word about your eBook. Of course, that page should include a share button, which will make it very simple for your readers.
Use a contest as a vehicle: You can create a contest and invite your readers to participate. A contest is generally a fun thing to get involved with. You probably will not have to twist most people's arms to be a part of it. This is part of creating a buzz for the launch of your eBook. Ask your readers to come up with a creative However, it isn't enough for people to just way to do that. The most creative, clever buy your book. Also, there is a higher level of interaction with videos so people who watch them tend to feel that they are more involved with what you are doing and what you are trying to accomplish than they are with written words on a page (at least, that is true for some people). Add buttons: When it comes to promoting your eBook, social share buttons are essential for your success. This goes back to the concept of making it as easy as possible on your readers. If the buttons are right in front of them, they will be inclined to click on them and share your content with other people if they think that what you have to say is worthy. eBooks are a wonderful way to get the most out of the content that you worked so long and hard to write. There are so many ways to promote your eBook through social media and, in many cases, your eBook is less about getting rich than it is about using your eBook as an extremely effective business card. You should start to create a buzz about your eBook way before it is out there. The entire process surrounding your eBook launch should be a part of your overall marketing strategy. You will see what a wonderful impact your efforts make. Carolyn T. Cohn is the Chief Editor of CompuKol Communications. Mrs. Cohn has a wealth of experience in managing people and projects. You must have an interesting book title. You must have a book cover that appeals to the reader. The big thing here is that you want your book cover to look like it was professionally designed, rather than designed by your junior high school child or grandchild. Most important, you must have a compelling book description. The title and cover will get people to open your sales page, but it is your description that will sell the book for you. It is sad, but most self-published authors will spend several months writing their book and less than ten minutes crafting their book description. Yet, future buyers are looking to the book description to convince them whether they should or should not purchase your book. If the description stinks, then sales will stink too.
If you construct a compelling description, you could very well find your book on the best sellers list. Reality Check About Selling Books on Amazon People tell me all the time that they don't need to worry about marketing their books, because Amazon will do all of their marketing for them. Here is what you need to understand about Amazon marketing your books for you. Yes, Amazon wants to sell more products, so they will tell their customers about your books.

But here is the thing... Amazon's internal marketing machine is completely driven by computer algorithm. An algorithm is a computer program that seeks out products to share with their customers.
You can advertise your book for free in a number of Facebook groups, on Twitter, or on your own blog. You don't have a blog? Why not?
Amazon isn't going to push a product that has only sold ten copies in the last month. Instead, it is going to push products that are currently selling hundreds of units a day, because they are trying to maximize the number of products they can sell. They are not going to promote a product that has lukewarm sales.
As a self-published book author, you are not only your own publisher, but you are also your own marketing team.
Or, you can spend a little money and advertise your book on Amazon's computer algorithms a site like Bookbub or any of are designed to find strong sell- the websites shown here. ing products and to promote those top-selling items to their You Are In The Driver's Seat customers.
