President’s Publication

Hey guys and gals! With the 2015-2016 school year coming to an end, so does our Key club year. However, this year we will be hosting a banquet at the Berry center on May 22nd! I’m so proud to say we accomplished our goal of having a banquet! I can’t wait to see what else is in store for us next school year! I’m so grateful to have the opportunity to serve as the new Key club president! I can’t wait to experience this crazy rollercoaster with all of you. I hope we reach all of our goals and become closer because we are one!! Remember that service never stops regardless of the season, so don’t forget to volunteer because you are all here for a reason!! Yours in Service,

Kelly Duong

Editor’s Note

Hello Friends! Hope everyone that attended DCON had a great time! A huge thanks to our advisor, Ms. McMillan, for making everything we do possible. On another note, the end of the year is quickly approaching. Please make sure that you’re meeting the 20 hour requirement! If not, Relay for Life is an excellent opportunity to finish up your hours for this semester. Also, details on our banquet will be sent out soon, so keep a look out for those. Thank y’all! Yours in Service

DCON Round Dos By Kelly Duong11, President This might sound super crazy but, DCON withdrawals are a very serious thing. DCON was just last week, and I miss being there every second. It was such a wonderful experience yet again. It amazes me as to how this year’s DCON could have possibly topped last year’s DCON. Everyone and everything there was hands down amazing, and I got to experience it with my wonderful Key club! Everything from the bus ride there, to the bus ride back, and everything in between was so amazing. I was able to grow a closer bond with so many people within my club. Not only did I grow a bond within my club, but I also grew a bond with other schools as well. I learned so many new things about Key Club and Kiwanis. I met so many wonderful people that have dedicated so much of their time to service. Being at DCON truly helped me realize what changes need to be made to our club. It helped me set goals for myself and the club next year and the years to come. The forums inspired so many new ideas, and taught me the do’s and don’ts of being president. I hope these changes will help our club grow, and improve the bond within our club. Furthermore, Houston Kraft gave me motivation to finish off the school year strong. He reminded me why I joined Key club, and grew to love service. He was such a wonderful speaker and truly inspired me to make a difference through love and service. All of the T-O districts come together to celebrate everything we’ve accomplished as one, and to simply celebrate one another.

I also had the honor of attending the House of Delegates, and that experience helped me realize how things come to be in Key Club. House of Delegates taught me that if you want something to change you are going to have to speak up, and make the change yourself. In conclusion, my second DCON experience was so awesome. I’m so glad I was able to convince more people to come, and I hope more people are willing to come next year!! I hope more people attend next year’s DCON because DCON is an unbelievable experience, and everyone should go at least once in their high school career. I learned so many amazing things, and met so many amazing people. Next year’s DCON is going to be bittersweet because it will be my last DCON #Todcon2017!!!
