HEY Y’ALL!!

Hello friends!

Hey y’all, merry December!!!! It is so crazy how fast time flies by, we are having our last meeting of the semester this week I remember our first meeting as if it was yesterday. I am so proud of how far we have come as a club, and I cannot wait to see what next semester holds for us. Along with our semester ending also ends our Key club semester as well. All hours will be due on the last day of finals, Friday, December 16th!!! Also, new this year, there will be volunteering opportunities available during the break, which will count towards next semester, because service never stops!!! I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe holiday!

As the semester comes to a close, make sure you are completing the hour and meeting requirements! Our secretary, Eghosa Amadin, has posted files on our Facebook page so all members can see where they currently stand. The requirement is 20 hours for members and 25 for officers. A heads up for the new semester, new members will be able to join in January! Spread the word!

Yours in Service,

Kelly Duong

The Fun in Helping Others By Bryan Nguyen11, Labay Builder’s Club Chairman

Via Colori was a sight to see with so many the amazing creations from chalk and with so many people enjoying themselves. The event is held every year to support “The Center For Hearing and Speech”, which helps children with hearing problems. Since this is nonprofit organization they needed much help as they could get to make this event possible! I really enjoyed that the sponsors made this event not only for the artists that specialize in chalk, but for anybody, including children and their families by adding the family zone. My friends and I were so happy to get to manage the family zone. We even got to draw the sign pointing to the family zone on the pavement! Being able to play with the kids and help them have fun was the best part of the experience. We drew animals and fun drawings that would draw their attention and bring them over to play games. We had games set up like bean bag toss and ring toss along with an arts and crafts station where they could make their own snowflake or flag. There was also the tattoo and face painting station where kids could get cool designs on their skin. They probably liked that part the most. I remember helping this girl make her flag for the United States and when she finished she was so happy. All the kids that came to our station (the arts and crafts) were all satisfied with their time with us. We made a lot of cool flags, signs, and snowflakes with them. Afterwards they even got a balloon for their hard work.

It was nice to see the smile on the parent’s face when they looked back to thank us, that was the most rewarding. When we were managing the crafts station, I liked how we could go around and take a break for a bit. Everyone that was managing the other stations were nice. It was kind of chilly that day and one of the stand gave us some gloves to help us get through the day more easily and we were really grateful. Overall the experience was really fun, even though sometimes we had to do some tiring work like carrying stuff it was all worth it to be able to make the kids in the family zone happy.
