Editor’s Note

HEY Y’ALL!!

Hello friends!

I hope y’all have had a wonderful year so far! If these past months have been a little rough for you, don’t worry; things will get better. Most students tend to get distracted and procrastinate during second semester, however, we cannot be those students. We have to face the rest of the year head on! We all have DCON to look forward to since it is right around the corner. April 20th is going to approach much faster than we may all think. There are a lot of exciting upcoming dates, such as, board interviews and fun volunteering events. Don’t miss out on our service adventure!

Wow, this semester is really starting to fly by! Something really important to think about within this next month is applying and interviewing to become a part of our school’s Key Club Board. Personally, by being a board member, it has been a blast being able to help keep our school club running smoothly! If you’re interested, we will be releasing interview dates soon. Yours in Service

Strong Club and Strong Community By Skye Crawford11, Upperclassmen Rep As an officer it is important to connect with the members of Key Club. This includes not only other officers and members of the board, but regular key clubbers as well. Being an officer can make it difficult to break out of the “officer bubble” and get to know the rest of the group, but with a few guidelines it can be made easy! Attending socials is perhaps the simplest and most effective way to connect with your clubs members. Socials provide an opportunity to do things as a group, and are made with the purpose of getting to know everyone. Once at the social, you should introduce yourself to everyone that you can, and let them introduce themselves as well. It is extremely important to really take into consideration their names because it is the building block to the foundation of a strong relationship. If you are shy, and feel as though you are holding back in conversation, just remember that key club is a family, and there is nothing to worry about. Key clubbers all have different personalities and attributes that differ from one another so it is important to meet every single one and see how it shapes your particular club! Why is it important to make great connections with your club you might ask? Well, to build a strong community you should build a strong and well bonded club. It is rather difficult to volunteer in your community side by side with your club members when you are struggling to remember their name…

..It also makes everything you do more fun, from the meetings to the volunteer activities, to DCON, a stronger friendship or relationship really enhances the club and bring the experience up to the next level. As you build the relationship with the members it creates a more tight-knit family, making people want to be a part of something like that. Overall, building relationships can be difficult at first, but it’s a bump in the road that’s necessary to get over. Even only learning a few new people a month, can drastically change the feel and function of your club. The main goal of Key Club is to improve and flourish your community, so it only makes sense to learn about your community within your community.
