Also, do not forget to save up because DCON is coming up very soon!!! We are hoping to start up different fundraisers and a few exciting service projects this semester. Building Up Our Clubs By Tiffany Hunter12, Labay Builder’s Club Chairman Before entering into high school, kids are already introduced to community service these days. Weather it is helping out at a school event or at a local sports match, kids nowadays are encouraged to help those around them. As an officer for Builders club, we help to encourage these community outreach efforts by leading by example. Currently, the Builders Club Cypress Falls interacts with is Labay Middle School which also happens to be a filter school of Falls. Meaning, the students that attend Labay are more than likely to attend Falls too. So, keeping positive relations with the soon to be younger classmen is an important factor in the future success of Key Club, as these same community volunteers soon graduate from Builders into Key Club. Why is this important? Well it is important for the fact, middle school is rough. The students in middle school require positive role models of a similar age to help guide them in the right direction. The direction of community service and what better way than by encouraging them to join the magnificent club of the Keys! As the officer of Builders Club and a graduating senior, I hope to promote this officer position for Builders Club next year by spreading the word of the opening position near the end of this school year. By doing so, it would allow an interested candidate the opportunity to see firsthand what Builders Club is all about and what we do during our visits. With this, the future candidate, after contacting me or Bryan and after seeing our mini add during a meeting, would just have a travel day to see if it is something they could really do and enjoy doing too. One of the best pros of being a Builder Club officer, that I hope other people get to experience is, being able to reconnect with the younger versions of yourself. Nearly every time we go back to Labay, we get to do hands on activities like making thank you signs, cooking, or even fundraiser posters alongside the pre-teens. With doing so, you almost always get inspired to do more yourself also. One of the major things that surprised me was, the Labay Builders Club helped to host and run a mini Olympics for the Special Needs kids in not only their school but also the ones in the Cypress Community.

With doing so, you almost always get inspired to do more yourself also. One of the major things that surprised me was, the Labay Builders Club helped to host and run a mini olympics for the Special Needs kids in not only their school but also the ones in the Cypress Community. Now if that does not impress you, I am not sure what will, because even at that young of an age, kids are not expected to have that much concern and care for other kids these days. When you imagine Middle Schoolers, community servicers are not the first thing that comes to mind normally, you would think roughhousing or immature jokes, and smelly munchkins, not compassionate future leaders. Along with getting to meet the amazing younger kids, being an officer for Key Club also allows you to make deeper connections with the other officers in the club. When I originally moved to Cypress Falls my sophomore year, I joined Key Club with absolutely no friends at all. By the end of the year I had totally made some friends, but not many. Flash forward to my senior year, and I have made nearly a hundred new friends or better relationships with people I had already met just due to the motivation you find within the officer group.
