Welcome to this issue of E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive. This month’s theme is: “Give Yourself Away. Living Life Out Loud and on Purpose” This month’s issue will feature Dr. Anissa Mc Neil and Sir Nicholas Winston. These are just two examples of people can make a difference in the lives of others half way around the world.

Before we get into this issue, let me take a minute to share the concept of “It Does Not Yet Appear”. This is the concept of standing in expectation of things hoped for-with no evidence of it yet being seen. The mark of a true visionary is speaking things into existence. When everyone says not ever, you say not yet. When everyone says it can’t be done, you say of course it can. And when everyone says give up, you say I haven’t even started yet.

It’s not enough to have a big vision, your mind has to be elevated and your tolerance level expanded to be able to birth it. When the song says “People Make the World Go Round”, here are a few tips: *You have to tolerate the imperfections in other people • Allow for their growth curves and personal struggles.

• Keep good people and build upon it.

Finally, injured people often exclude themselves. They quite before you fire them, they thrieve on expecting rejection. Taking all that into consideration, many great people need encouragement to keep doing well. So when you look at someone or something that appears to be broken, worthless and discarded, remember this. It does not yet appear what someone could turn into in the hands of a builder and a Visionary.

At an event last night two like-minded retired senior Navy Officers - one in his late 70's and another in his 50's could not stop speaking when they found out about my upcoming leadership book, The En-

writer’s block is defined as a “condition,” primarily associated with an author who loses the ability to produce new work, or experiences a creative slowdown.

Every month, I contact my editor and ask what topic she wants me to write about, what’s trending this month and the focus or theme of that month’s issue. For this month, she immediately requested I write about “writer’s block.” As I began to research, I came across numerous articles and books with 10, 15, 27 or as many as 90 tips to address, manage and cure writer’s block.

First, I asked myself if writer’s block really exists or has it just been an age-old crutch and excuse for not writing. If it does exist, how is it defined and what causes it?

As I conducted my research, I discovered I not only have to define writer’s block but also grasp its basic understanding. According to Page 30 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive

The documentation states the “condition” ranges in difficulty from coming up with original ideas to not producing any written material for years. Evidently, throughout history, “writer's block” has been a documented problem.

Some of the professionals who have struggled with this “affliction” include authors such as F. Scott Fitzgerald, comic strip cartoonist Charles M. Schulz, British songwriter Adele and even Herman Melville, who quit writing novels for a number of years after writing Moby-Dick.

It has been suggested that writer's block is more than just a mentality.

Research suggests that under stress, a human brain will "shift control from the cerebral cortex to the limbic system."

Psychoanalyst Edmund Bergler first described the “condition� in 1947, even though the majority of the research on this topic was conducted more than thirty years later, during the late 1970s and 1980s.

The third category of blocks may have to do with the pressure to produce the material, especially if the author is compelled to work in ways that are against their natural inclination (i.e. with a deadline).

The research suggests that writer's block may be attributed to different causes, falling under different categories. The first category may be creative problems that originate within an author's work itself, as a writer may run out of inspiration, or be distracted by other events.

It has been suggested that writer's block is more than just a mentality. Research suggests that under stress, a human brain will "shift control from the cerebral cortex to the limbic system." What does this mean?

The second category of blocks may be produced by adverse circumstances in the writer's life such as physical illness, depression, end of a relationship, financial pressures, or even a sense of failure.

creative process, which is then replaced by behaviors associated with the limbic system, the individual is often unaware of the change, which may lead them to believe they are creatively "blocked."

In her 2004 book, The Midnight Disease: The Drive to Write, Writer's Block, and the Creative Brain, Alice W. Flaherty, author and neurologist, has argued that literary creativity is a function of specific areas of the brain, and that a block may be the result of brain activity being disrupted in those specific areas.

to writer's block. However, it is not recognized as a psychological term. Blank page syndrome can happen to a writer at any time, irrespective of their circumstances or any of the other factors previously identified as attributing to writer’s block.

This syndrome can be annoying to authors and often leads to a long span of time where they cannot create anything new to write about.

“the heart of the problem in writer’s block is essentially a problem of procrastination, of putting off until tomorrow what might be done today. Most writers do not have rigid external deadlines to inspire them, such as a contract or a due date for an article, such as this.

The procrastinator feels that the time is not yet ready and the writing project is likely to go much better at a future time.

The problem, of course is that those perfect conditions for getting started are elusive. Perfect conditions are not worth waiting for because they do not exist.

In many cases, a writer does not know what the first sentence of a novel, article or book is going to be. An author can type something like what they think the first sentence might be and then imagine what might come next.”

According to Barber, apart from breaking through the writer’s block by jumping in with an approximation of what the first or second sentence is, has other advantages. One advantage is not knowing what is waiting in the imagination until you look inside.

Another reason a writer procrastinates is that writing for an audience is a performance with some similarities to playing an instrument. It is true everyone does their share of talking but speech is essentially a different instrument and discussing your novel, book or article with another will not help you write it. For example, a musician cannot be very good on an instrument without plenty of practice and the same is true of a writer.

A cure for writer’s block can also be the solution for procrastination – and even perfectionism. There is no good reason for postponing the start of your writing. There is every reason to begin immediately. “Just sit down and write!”

editor-in-chief to discuss future issues and as we spoke, I shared with her that I was struggling to finish this article and I thought I had “writer’s block.” .” She simply laughed. She was quite surprised, as this had never happened to me before.

Usually, I do my research and just begin writing. In this case, I struggled because of the power of suggestion in the attempt to empathize with other writers who experience “writer’s block.”

are not blocked. You’re empty and you need to fill up. The best thing you can do is to step away from your work and do something that recharges you, leaving you refreshed and inspired.

The next logical question is how to tell the difference between resistance or emptiness.

Don’t be fooled; resistance is waiting to grab you at the earliest possible moment. Once you’re full, get back at it. Start creating and continue working through the resistance.

There is one simple solution for overcoming writer’s block. It’s the one thing you don’t want to do and think you can’t do:

The hard part is just getting started, not cleaning up the confusion. You can always go back and edit the confusion by refining the mismatched combination of words. After a few minutes of nonsensical typing, you will find that you are no longer writing junk. After a short period you are writing real, comprehensible words and phrases, even actual sentences.

Be aware this can all begin with a few silly strokes of the keyboard.

You are not blocked because you don’t have any ideas. I assert you are blocked because you’re a perfectionist. You think that none of the ideas seem good enough; nothing feels quite brilliant enough to become reality. So, you sit there, stuck at your desk, waiting for something better to come to mind.

What if something better never comes to mind? What if your next idea was the best idea you will ever have? You would have to capture it… right? Exactly.

No one is asking you to paint the Mona Lisa.

The key is for you to just write a first draft, good, bad, indifferent; it doesn’t matter even if that first draft totally sucks. You can build on it later.

Some believe that education is a fundamental right to everyone. Yet throughout the world this is not so. As you read the read, do you know that 617 million children cannot read this sentence according to UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UNESCO, 2018). So many children do have the opportunity or are denied the right of an education. UNESCO (2018) reports that millions worldwide are deprived of an education. 1 out of every 5 girls and young women are denied education (UNESCO, 2018). The need is great.As I talk with children who do not attend school, are orphans, or need a quality education world wide They all feel alone. Not only are they challenged with poverty and the lack of parents but isolated by living in a world where they feel invisible. Invisible and alone is no way for a child to start life.

I know the loneliness and despair children feel. I too felt invisible from the adults, community, and city in which I lived. I also know the strength it takes to cling to hope and the courage it takes to find and experience joy in the midst of poverty and homelessness. A simply joy of play is a struggle as a homeless child. Many other worries consume your thoughts..like food and shelter. You wonder and dream, how and when will this change?

Coming from where I’m from (homeless to education to education professional). I know the power of education especially a quality education and its ability to change and build lives for generations to come.

Little did I know, that my background and experiences served as the first qualifier, being educated the second, and having a passion to educate others is the third to get this work done! I choose to live my Life “Out loud and On Purpose”. It’s my personal mantra. One day while driving to visit a public school. We drove by three young ladies carrying wood up and down the highest mountain in Addis Ababa. and dynamic. While working in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. I had the opportunity to explore the education system and identify a need experientially. One day while driving to visit a public school. Initially, they were admit about not talking, held there head downs, and went to drop the wood behind trees.

As we began to stop and they became more at ease and began to share their stories.

One young girls stated “I went to school but there aren’t any jobs” and “ you must do good on the exams to get a job”. Another shared “I couldn’t go to school. My mother works and so do I”. Two of the three girls could not read a simple sentence…

As I had lunch and completed my visits, I sMy name is Anissa… written in English and Amharic. These girls are not alone. poke with so many poor and orphaned children who share the same story. The sentiment and despair was shared from girls and boys alike. It’s easy to see why, we began to work in Ethiopia!

The work is challenging and rewarding.

While working in Uganda, I had the privilege to meet an young man, we will call him Nick, while observing a math class.

Nick immediately raised his hand when asked to solve a math question. After, two or three questions, he stopped raising his hand and lowered his head. I saw this and asked him immediately after class why did he stop to answer questions?

I spent the next few days encouraging Nick to be exactly who he is made to be and that is a wonderful, curious, and brilliant young man. By the end of the week, I went back to his math class and observed him answering questions and being asked by the teacher to help others who were struggling to solve the math problem.

Winton singlehandedly established an organization to aid children from Jewish families at risk from the Nazis.

Born in 1909 to German Jewish parents, Winston, initially named Wertheim, was born. A normal Jewish childhood with the exception of the family converting to Christianity at the time they migrated to London.

In 1923, Winton entered Stowe School, which had just opened. He left without graduating, attending night school while volunteering at the Midland Bank. He then went to Hamburg, where he worked at Behrens Bank, followed by Wasserman Bank in Berlin. In 1931, he moved to France and worked for the Banque Nationale de Crédit in Paris. He also earned a banking qualification in France. Returning to London, he became a broker Shortly before Christmas 1938, at the London Stock Exchange.

Winton was planning to travel to Switzerland for a skiing holiday. He decided instead to visit Prague and help his friend Martin Blake, who had called to ask him to assist in Jewish welfare work. Winton single- handedly established an organization to aid children from Jewish families at risk from the Nazis. He set up his office at a dining room table in his hotel in Wenceslas Square. In November 1938, following the Kristallnacht in Nazi-ruled Germany, the House of Commons approved a measure to allow the entry into Britain of refugees younger than 17, provided they had a place to stay and a warranty of £50 was deposited for their eventual return to their own country.

An important obstacle was getting official permission to cross into the Netherlands, as the children were destined to embark on the ferry at the Hook of Holland. After the Kristallnacht in November 1938, the Dutch government officially closed its borders to any Jewish refugees. The border guards (marechaussee) actively searched for them and returned any found to Germany, despite the horrors of Kristallnacht being well known. (From the border, the synagogue in Aachen could be seen burning just 3 miles away).

Winton succeeded, thanks to the guarantees he had obtained from Britain. After the first train, crossing the Netherlands went smoothly. A Dutch woman, Gertruida Wijsmuller-Meier saved another 10,000 Jewish children, mostly from Vienna and Berlin via the Hook, though it is not known whether she and Winton ever met.

Winton found homes in Britain for 669 children, many of whose parents would perish in Auschwitz.

Winton's mother worked with him to place the children in homes and later hostels. Throughout the summer, Winton placed advertisements seeking families to accept them. The last group of 250, scheduled to leave Prague on 1 September 1939, did not reach safety.

Hitler had invaded Poland and World War II had begun.

Winton sought registration as a conscientious objector and served during the war with the Red Cross, but in 1940 he rescinded his objection to join the Royal Air Force, Administrative and Special Duties Branch. He was initially an airman, rising to sergeant by the time he was commissioned on June 22, 1944 as an acting pilot officer on probation.

He was later promoted to pilot officer on probation and then war substantive flying officer. He relinquished his commission on 19 May 1954, retaining the honorary rank of flight lieutenant.

Time may seem like it’s infinite; but for all of us, it is a finite commodity. The reason I say time is a commodity is because it is an intangible product but just as valuable as something tangible of great value. As Benjamin Franklin once quoted, “Time is money.”

We’ll explore why different aspects of your life related to this quote, and how learning to use both your time and money more wisely can lead you on a path to financial freedom.

Time Value of Money Many of you, just like me, probably wished you had saved more money than you currently have in your savings account. The definition of Time Value of Money is the idea that money available at any present time is worth more than the same amount in the future given that it can earn interest. If you think back on it, you may realize you could have saved more over the years. The reason you didn’t is probably because a great deal of disposable income you had throughout your lifetime have been spent on things you really didn’t need,

but just HAD to have. I’m certainly guilty of that. I’m not just talking about the designer clothes and shoes, but also small items you thought were negligible such as your daily dose of coffee, latte or your favorite drink. Such inexpensive items at any present moment can significantly reduce your nest egg once these expenditures continue over a long period of time.

For example, most of us who are employed can easily save about $100 a month. Not to mention you should have saved at least 10% of your paycheck anyways, before spending money on anything else. If you think about it, $100 a month is about the price of a fancy cup of coffee per day. Now, how much do you think you would have, after 30 years if you had saved $100 at the beginning of every month for the last 30 years if the interest rate is 5% compounded monthly? The answer would be $83,572.64.

As you can see, a small amount of money that seems negligible over the long haul, will amount to a large sum that can be difficult or impossible to replace to make up for lost time. For those of you who are Millennials and haven’t been in the workforce for 30 years yet, start extracting and saving as much money as you can out of your paychecks so you can be the proud owner of a larger nest egg in the years to come.

For some, doubling your savings to $200 a month would probably not be a difficult task for which the reward at the end of 30 years would be about $250,717 given

the same time value of money scenario previously shown. Find ways to cut your fixed monthly expenses such as cable or phone bills or any type of subscriptions which you may not have fully utilized. For those of you who dine out regularly, I am sure you can easily save $200 per month because it breaks down to only $50.00 per week. With the high cost of living now, a half decent meal for one person can cost you $10.00 each meal, while drinking only free water. If you search hard enough, most likely you’ll find areas to cut back on. Inspire yourself to take on the challenge of looking for ways to save money on something every day, to have that extra $100 or $200 at the end of the month to contribute for the future. If you would like to make some of your own calculations based on your situation and savings goals, a financial calculator would be a great tool to have.

Extra Payments on Your Mortgage In the previous Time Value of Money example, we used 30 years to calculate the amount of money we’ll end up with if we consistently save $100 per month.

This time we’ll explore how much sooner you can pay off your 30-year mortgage and how much interest savings you can accumulate, just by paying an extra $100.00 per month towards your mortgage.

Let’s take for example, a $300,000 loan amortized over 30 years at a fixed rate of 4.5%. If just an extra $100.00 per month was paid toward the mortgage from the origination date, the life of the loan would be shortened by 3 years 7 months, which means your 30-year mortgage would be paid off in 26 years and 5 months. In addition, you would save $34,085.83 in interest over the life

If we now use an example with a higher mortgage amount, say $700,000 and an extra $400 paid monthly, beginning from origination, you would pay off the mortgage in 24 years 5 months which means you’ll save 5 years and 7 months. Keep in mind the higher the amount of the mortgage, the more you should contribute towards the principal each month.

True purpose is as much a spiritual process as it is a physical one. Often, to get through the difficult times you have to dig deep in your spirit, mind and body to reach that next level.

You’re probably asking what does this have to do with the title of this article “Air Bubbles” and why is it titled Air

Air bubbles are the favorable, sometimes unexplainable coincidence that happen in the midst of a crisis.

Bubbles?

For example, getting exactly what you need at the right time to carry you on a little further. It’s getting enough air to breathe on the way up. Air bubbles are not the total solution, they are indications that you’re going in the right direction.

Air bubbles are just enough of whatever it is you need to maintain and inch forward through a difficult situation. If you’re impatient like me, you’d rather be alive or dead, but that in-between is true torture. This article is about using your air bubbles and winning the challenge.

Before we jump into the article, I wanted to give you a perfect example of the proper use of air bubbles during a crisis. This is from the actual live events of an Apollo 13 crisis which starts with “Houston , we have a problem”. And over the next several minutes a group of talented engineers figured out and implemented an answer bringing all the astronauts home. In reality, this was an appropriate time to panic.

Don’t waste precious minutes panicking.

The concept of Air bubbles came from a Navy Seal training tactic which essentially says: Even if you think your dying, don’t panic. Those final minutes of staying calm and thinking could be what saves your life. This entire concept is counter intuitive. Panicking, temper tantrum, giving up are all normal reactions to “the last straw” in a crisis.

Be Prepared for things to go wrong. Correction, be prepared for a few things to go wrong. In order to be prepared, you need to take the following steps.

Step 1) Master your terrain to the best of your ability. Once you realize you’re not in complete control of your situation, you want to off set that disadvantage with being as informed as possible. Become a quick study in all situations. The reason is some thinking and logic will transfer into several situations.

If you can recall it and use it, your that much further ahead. Training is planning to win.

Training under duress (stress training) is planning to win in adversarial, unpredictable conditions.

Step 2) Anticipate and prepare for several types of failures along the way. A failure/crisis is just a delay if your prepared for it.

When a crisis occurs , the less energy and stress spent addressing the crisis, the more energy reserved for constructive progress through your overall process.

Step 3) Be focused, prepared and determined instead of blindly optimistic. In a perfect world everything will pan out but that rarely happens. Most people that do any type of highly competitive sports, challenges or life risking tasks will tell you-any given day a slight shift in events can change an outcome.

An important lesson from the past. Amelia Earhart failed to master the use of her radio. Prior to her transatlantic flight, she only learned enough of her radio’s operations to meet her minimal flight needs. If nothing went wrong, her level of radio operating skills would be considered adequate. However, based on the risks of her trip and the opportunity for failure, she should have know enough about all of her equipment to take it apart and put it back together again.

While we can’t say for certain, but it’s very possible, if she had learned to change and understand the settings on her radio, she could have saved herself or she could have given rescue teams more opportunities to save her.

& Don’t Go still and maintain selfcontrol.

The best way to get around this is to 1) 1) decide to not lose it and remain calm.

2) 2) Realize your plan and back up plans should be implemented.

3) 3) Just because you’re not having fun doesn’t mean you’re not being effective so stay the course.

Discern Your Support team before the crisis In a fox hole, with your hair on fire is not the time to learn who your friends are or to sort which friends are a best fit for certain situations. You must know who your friends are before you need them. You must also be the type of friend you want to attract. Below is a napkin trick I use to help illustrate types of friends and ideal friends in a crisis.

We all have friends that are clean shaven, drive great cars, neatly pressed with everything in order. They are wonderful to take into a meeting or invite to a party because they look the part of success. These types of friends/associates are what I call clean neat napkins.

On the other had we all have friends and family members we would never take to a meeting or have them even answer the phones in our office for fear of what they would actually say. It could be an aunt or grandmother that really speaks her mind-unedited. When friends come over they feed then and proceed to tell everybody all your business. Or a brother or uncle that carries a 6 pack of beer “ just in case” . They laugh real loud, have a heart of gold and looking for an excuse to party. This is the group I call rough around the edges.

So here is the situation. If your down, distressed and need to be helped with no questions asked, who are you going to call? If you selected the rough around the edges group, your right. Many times your neat napkin friends will not put anything at risk or lift a finger to help you.

They are only there if it’s smooth and easy or something to be gained.

Whereas your rough around the edges friends may just be the ones to get out of bed to help you you needed them. You must learn to discern your friends before you’re in a pinch.

In what state of mind or mental room are You Waiting for your Answers?

What most of us do and should absolutely not do is visualize, internalize and rehearse a problem. What we should do is visualize, verbalize and earnestly anticipate a solution.

It’s a habit for most of us to see a problem or series of issues and mentally line them up all together.

Then we start a mental tape of rehearsing the details of the problem in our heads. We also give details, elaborate on the impossibility of solving them. What we’re actually doing is putting energy and mass to the integrity of the problem. This is a direct road to giv-

ing up.

If we stand in a dark space, we can’t expect an enlighten answer . Also, when we stand in a dark space and whine or rehearse the problem we’re telling ourselves an enlighten answer is impossible. Whining is quite effective as long as people are listening and becoming as frantic as we are. Whining feels great for a little while but we have to stop it.

Dark thoughts or a dark mental mind set weakens you physically, mentally and spiritually. These are all the personal resources you you’ll need to pull from in order to solve the problems.

The first thing we should do in times of crisis is speak the outcome that we want.

Despite what you’re looking at, you must know and believe that solutions are as much a possibility as the crisis itself. Crisis usually has reversible and irreversible parts. So you’re speaking to and taking steps for the parts of your crisis that have opportunities for solutions.

Think of this process as a grass planter or machine gun. The more positive

bullets you shoot out there, the more opportunities for great solutions you’re creating. Likewise the more you plant positive grass seed, the thicker and greater your opportunity for solutions.

Just because life presents you with a temporary set of facts doesn’t mean you have to accept them without adding your own intention.

You intent, prayers or purpose does impact your overall outcome. So when crisis happen, and they always will, you have a multi prong approach.

1) restate the facts in the opportunity for a positive outcome.

2) communicate your hurt or stress just to get it out of the way.

3) communicate the outcome you want to experience.

4) take steps in that direction. As many steps and strategies as possible.

The first time I heard the phrase, “Show up for you” my insides jumped. Instinctively I knew I was not fully showing up for myself. I had convinced myself that all was well in my life.

I was married for thirteen years to the love of my life. We had two beautiful kids. I had recently completed my Master’s degree and the founder of The Princess Palace etiquette mentoring programs for girls. I was in the process of fulfilling and completing other goals on my list. Yet some how there was something missing. I could not put my finger on the deep void that was tugging at my soul. I had all the external reasons to be happy. I found myself going though the motions trying my very best to bring my dreams into reality.

I was always the strong one. One day my niece asked me, “Who do you go to when you need support?” I replied, “God.” Everyone comes to me with his or her problems. I on the other hand can solve my own problems with God’s help. To be honest I would often take my problems away from God and deal with them alone. Right? So here I was stuck and unfulfilled with no way out. Because the burdens were getting heavy and I could no longer carry them. Thinking this way, I had no idea something would happen that would change everything about the way I was treating life and myself.

There were profound reasons that the accident had left me with so many unbearable injuries - my body was failing me from my back, neck, shoulder, and head. I painfully struggled to function day to day. It would take years of treatment, two surgeries, and hundreds of hours of physical therapy to be healthy again.

I remember one day, my head was in excruciating pain. I tried every medicine, but nothing I did would remedy the pain. My husband and children were in the living room watching TV; I could not move my mouth to call out for help. I began to give into the pain. I had no choice.

The pain had consumed me. This was year three of my ten-year ordeal. I thought to myself this is it. My time here is over. I let the fear consume me as well. The only thing that was Subscription link ETMMedia.net

left for me to do was to surrender to whatever the moment was serving me. I did think to myself, “if or when I get out of this state I will do what I am on earth to do. No more messing around.” My mortality was real.

I later was diagnosed with traumatic brain injury. I thought, “Great now my brain is gone.” I am walking with a limp, in constant pain, having problems talking and thinking.

I could not hold a cohesive conversation to save my life.

Writing was out of the question. How will I ever become an author, and speaker?

Recovery was a day-to-day fight with some days having no fight at all.

Somewhere during that time I realized I had hit rock bottom.

I heard that phase many times and thought being at rock bottom was a term used for alcohol and drug addicts, so there is no way I could be at the bottom. I would later learn addictions come in many forms.

Now I was facing that reality. I searched into my past and could see snapshots of what had bought me to the bottom. I remembered, right before I was rear-ended I was singing a praise song and giving thanks to God. I felt something had to change to set me on my path of purpose.

However, I would have never imagined it would happen in this form of taking me though this dark tunnel.

All hell had broken loose. I was living in the wilderness. I believe the voice I head was God’s gift of hope to me.

Then again I remembered that soft voice that said to me this is your answer.

This time the same voice said to me, “When you are at rock bottom that is where I have you buried deep. Deep so that the seeds of your gift, talent, purpose, and power can take root, grow, bear fruit and manifest your dreams. Now own your worth. I will give you the strength, to become a speaker, author, and the vision to create and serve in the manner you are created for. Use your faith girl and get up.”

I had my first speaking engagement since the accident three years ago. I remember getting the call. I was literally leaving the doctor’s office and felt I wasn’t completely ready.

When I was given the date to speak, I took a mental pause to listen to the voice.

I heard, “All you have to do is show up.” Ironically, the organization I was being booked for their motto is “It’s all about showing up” that tug I felt in my belly years ago was now reassurance to move forward.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things you cannot see.

Forgive, love, and be grateful. Trust yourself to live from an abundant mindset, to use your gift and talents. I will show you the blueprint on how to move forward in your thoughts and actions. I was transformed.

I realized now that I am aligned mind, body, and spirit. I do not have to chase my dreams because God’s infinite and eternal power supports my dreams. I am humbled and Grateful for the lessons I have learned that brought me out on the other side. The answers continue to manifest.

I still had doubt. How was I going to be able to put anything together in my condition? The voice replied, “I would give you the words to say and the concepts to teach.” I now have the courage to show up as my true self fulfilled using my gift to serve on purpose.

Ingredients Amounts      

⚫ 3 ounces dark chocolate ⚫ 1 pound ricotta cheese (see note, above) ⚫ 1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract ⚫ 1 Tablespoon honey ⚫ 1 cup heavy cream ⚫ 1 teaspoon maple syrup

Method: Melt the chocolate in a double boiler.

You can fit a metal bowl over a pot of water. Just make sure that there is no space between the two.

Method Continued: Put about an inch of water in the pot and bring to a simmer.

Do not let it boil. Fit the bowl on top, and put the chocolate inside of the bowl. Stir the chocolate until it is fully melted.

Combine the melted chocolate, ricotta, vanilla, and honey in the food processor. Process until it is smooth, about 30 seconds.

Beat the heavy cream with the maple syrup until holds soft peaks.

Refrigerate if necessary (see not above). Serve in little cups, topped with whipped cream.

Vitamin D and Stroke How does 25-hydroxyvitamin D (vitamin D) blood or serum level impact arterial health as it relates to a stroke? Well, causality is unclear and additional research is warranted, but recent studies conclude that low vitamin D serum levels with subclinical carotid atherosclerosis is highly associated with the risk of stroke. [1] In a recent study, vitamin D serum levels were measured for stroke outcome among 464 women who developed ischemic stroke and an equal number of women who were free of stroke through 2006 in the Nurses’ Health Study.

Senior author Dr. Qi Sun, MD et al, of the Nurses’ Health Study article entitled “25-hydroxyvitamin D levels and risk of stroke: A prospective study and

Dr. Qi Sun and his colleagues agree that “maintaining adequate vitamin D status may lower the risk of stroke in women”. [2] In addition, a vitamin D deficiency is also link to a more server stroke and an unfavorable 90 day recovery outcome. [3] More importantly, reliable evidence links vitamin D deficiency to stroke in both men and women, it is believed that such a deficiency increases the risk of stroke by 50%. So many of the meetings that I attended in my 20 years of corporate career undeniably cross my mind when I discuss the topic of filtering out time wasters.

Years ago when I started managing projects, meetings quickly became a major part of my day.

Each invitation to a meeting was the validation that I had been waiting for, that I was a valuable member of the team.

I got to rub shoulders with clients and senior managers. I was moving up. I was the first to know the latest and the greatest. I enjoyed being a part of the decision making process, speaking up as the go-to person that other attendees wanted to hear from, and learning to anticipate potential issues for future meetings. I figured this was how the best managers made a living – hours of meetings each day, then returning phone calls and replying to emails that arrived during the meetings, finishing other project-related tasks, and going home at midnight or later.

time. Pretty soon these meetings became unbearably torturous and I could not stand them. I started refusing to attend meetings so I could get some work done and go home at a decent time. But I could not refuse all of them. I ended up sitting through many of these time wasters.

Just to think that I let my beautiful youth pass by while sitting in conference rooms and watching some of the attendees feeling proud of their own voices while others played Sudoku on their phones‌.

Those meetings did not deserve my time. In simplifying your meetings, start with this bigger picture: Do you know

what deserves your time? How is your relationship with time? Is it strained because there is never enough of it? Is the passing of time hopeful and forgiving? How you spend your time is how you spend your life. Reflect on what it really means to you to have time.

Time is the most precious commodity that life offers completely equally to every human being. There is same amount of time for everyone each day, no exceptions. In order to achieve and manage burnouts and life-work balance while accomplishing high and lofty personal and professional goals, you must use your time wisely. Make the most of your time. Do not waste it.

In your attempts to maximize your productivity throughout the day, do you ever take breaks to slow down a bit and come up for air? I certainly hope so. This is a vital component in filtering out your time wasters. But what fills up these breaks? Are they productive breaks that truly rest your mind and body for your superhuman performance? Or are you just filling these breaks with more noise and useless complications, also known as time wasters?

Meetings become time wasters because they can quickly fill up with routines that waste our energy and empowerment. Gossip, overeating, efforts without a clear goal, worrying about things that you can’t control, insufficient or insincere communication, and useless activities on electronic devices.

Such dynamics can completely rob your productivity and passion for fulfillment.

So, let’s throw out the destructor factors.

Focus on the present moment. Protect your energy in your interactions with other attendees of your meetings. Hashing and re-hashing the same conversation without making a decision, meandering discussions that lead to no conclusions, then more meetings about meetings... crazy! If

Have a clear objective of the meeting that applies to everyone in attendance. Let them know why they are invited. It is downright shocking how many people attend meetings without knowing why they are there. So they just turn to their smart phone and start playing games. This is unacceptable. For her first leg of education at the beginning of college she chose psychology once she had satisfied that education she pursued business and law. Angel Toussant was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska and at age 37 moved from Anchorage to Northern California. She remained in Northern California until April, 2016 at which time she found her new home in Murrieta,California.
