MICRO-HOUSING



PROJECT PROPOSAL Micro-housing in Tokyo is very common especially since the land is expensive; hence, architects used the power of technology and started building micro-houses for the residents in Japan. Problems of living small creates large health risks, lack of privacy, selfexpression, relaxation, and lack of identity claims. Benefits of living small has advantages on the economy, convenience, flexible, ease of maintenance, simplicity and easy to build. In this project, we have to create a micro-house considering sustainablity, privacy and innovative design that will suit the Japanese style and culture. The house has to accommodate three adults.



CONCEPT STATEMENT By utilizing organically inspired forms to create unexpected interior spaces, we hope to efficiently use the space while creating a distinctive environment. The elements of suspension and undulation will be integrated through the design. Therefore, creating a harmonious relationship between our surroundings and our micro-house.



DESIGN DEVELOPMENT The concept of organic flows had to interpretate into the design, hence inspired through the curves of tree stem helped understanding the space. Considering foldable and stackable furniture takes less space, creating a sense of transformation within the micro space. The use of ladders were crucial in order to reach every corner of the house.


BED CUBICLE This bed is a cantilever bed on top. It has a step for easy accessibility. All these cubicles have a sliding door for privacy.

BED CUBICLE This is the second bed cubicle located on the ground floor. The West wall behind the bed is another decoration wall filled with bamboos.


ENTRANCE The entrance is from the first floor and it has six steps till you reach the ground floor. The sliding door on the right is the entrance to the bed cubicle. And on the left is a decortation wall filled with bamboos.

KITCHENETTE The kitchen is located on the ground level. It has minimum and essential equipments, such as, a microwave, sink, refrigerator and cabintory. The sink sits on a curved table that goes along the East wall.
