A Modern Boudoir
PROJECT PROPOSAL The idea of this project is to create a modern boudoir for women who would appreciate and utilize it. We need to include a common bedroom adjacent to a boudoir. Maximum capacity of both rooms are 350 squarefootage.
DEFINITION A Boudoir is a room dedicated to women, either functioned as a sitting room or a salon, normally situated in between the dining room and the bedroom, but can also be refer to a woman’s private bedroom. The wealthier the woman, the more elaborate her morning rituals would be! For example, a maid would groom and sponge bathe her lady in the boudoir. Here is where she gets pampered.
HISTORY During the Rococo era, buodoir were designed with curved elements, wood flooring, white walls, gold ornaments; it had a classic and feminine feel to it. In later periods, the boudoir was altered and used as a private drawing room, embroidery or spending time with one’s love partner.
OPINION My interpretation of a boudoir is a combination between a bedroom and a dressing room. The modern boudoir has similar aspects with French Rococo style interior. All the patterns regarding the walls and the furniture are mixtures from past art and present art forms and materials. Accessories will be changed to modern essentials located in the boudoir.

BEDROOM
FLOOR PLAN BOUDOIR The boudoir is a private room for women to feel comfortable and free. It’s normally connected with a bedroom because its a small room typically known as a powder room. Here women can get dressed, relax, chat with friends and eat meals. The use of curved walls is specially made for seating purposes. Furniture and accessories in this room are only functioned by women. The wall on the left side has access to natural sunlight through bay windows.
BEDROOM The bedroom can be shared with your partner. A bedroom is also private but because it can be shared, we normally tend to call it a semi-private room. The bedroom provides sources of entertainment, comfort and secured. Furniture placed in this room are bed, side table, lounge chair, coffee table, tv cabinet and decorations. The wall on the right said has access to natural sunlight through bay windows.
BOUDOIR
ELEVATIONS There are the two elevations, one for the bedroom and one for the boudoir. The left picture is the bedroom elevation, it has minimal furniture as in modern days we like to keep our room spacious. The boudoir is on the right elevation, it has a Rococo touch with the wall paper and furniture selection. The chandelier gives a luxurious feel to the room. The high chair with a long support back is also very French Rococo style. However, the modern touches are mainly the materiality on these furniture, for example a nice marble dresser with a rich fur carpet.
