Tanya Tucker Celebrates 50 years of “Delta Dawn” at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium

Tanya’s successful career in Country music.

Tanya Tucker took the Country world by storm in April 1972 with the release of “Delta Dawn.” The song was co-written by Larry Collins and Alex Harvey, and it’s chart-topping success open the doors for

Fast forward 50 years, Tanya has had a career full of notoriety that includes multiple ACM, CMA, and Grammy Awards, and countless fans behind her. On April 10, Tanya took the stage at the historic Ryman Auditorium to celebrate the release of “Delta Dawn.” She was joined on stage by a star-studded guest list of performers. In a two-plus hour marathon show, she proved her honest, fun and unrepressed style of entertainment makes her timelessly essential to country music. She brought a handful of other powerful women of Americana and Country music to the stage with her including Jessi Colter, Brandi Carlile, LeAnn Rimes, Brenda Lee, and Jeannie Seely. “Country music, and its songs and songwriters, are a part of my DNA,” Tucker said before welcoming Brenda Lee onstage to sing her 1958 hit “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree.” Though it may

seem odd to be honoring winter holidays at the onset of spring, Lee was followed onstage by Tucker’s longtime friend and Grand Ole Opry favorite Jeannie Seely. Then, out walked the previously mentioned Rimes to duet with Tucker on her 1987 hit ballad “Love Me Like You Used To.” But it didn’t stop there as the list was not limited by gender or genre. She also brought revered blues singer Delbert McClinton and songwriter Sonny Throckmorton on stage with her, among others. Tanya kept the “Mother Church” audience on their feet with a series of mind-blowing performances. She shared the stage with Rimes for “Love Me Like You Used to” and performed “Tell Me About It” with McClinton. Before closing the show with a version of “Delta Dawn” accompanied by her seven-piece band (including her daughter Presley as a backing vocalist), the 25-person Nashville in Harmony Choir (notably, the chorus welcomes people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, gender expressions, and their allies) and a dozen special guests, Tucker highlighted how the song came to be. Tanya is a timeless classic and the momentum continues with a new documentary, “The Return of Tanya Tucker.” It profiles the recording process with Brandi Carlile for the original female outlaw’s 2019 album, While I’m Livin’, which received two GRAMMY® Awards for Best Country Album: While I’m Livin’ and Best Country Song: “Bring My Flowers Now.”. Recently, Tanya released her 2022 Hard Luck Tour dates, with several shows on sale now. More at tanyatucker.com

Elvie Shane Wraps Tour w/ Sold-Out Nashville Show & Special Guests Wheelhouse Records singer/songwriter Elvie Shane wrapped his first-ever headlining run on Thursday (4/21) with a sold-out show at Nashville’s Basement East. Shane brought his MY KINDA TROUBLE TOUR with Frank Ray to a close, playing songs from his critically acclaimed debut album BACKSLIDER, as well as surprised the capacity crowd with guest appearances by Lainey Wilson who joined Shane for a rendition of her ACM Song of the Year winning “Things A Man Outta Know” and Tenille Townes as she and Shane sang their duet “Nothin’ Lasts Forever.”

Shane’s new single “County Roads” was one of the Most Added songs at Country radio upon its debut and continues to climb. Co-written by Shane with Dan Couch and Oscar Charles, his second single is full of untamed energy, flying like an unguided missile of passion down “County Roads” and paints a picture of Shane’s early days in Grayson County, KY.

A native of small-town Kentucky, early touchstones like Dwight Yoakam, Steve Earle and John Fogerty joined Wheelhouse Records’ Elvie Shane’s Gospel roots to form the bedrock of his taste – along with R&B classics like The Temptations and modern superstars like Eminem. And after a fateful Baptist revival came through town, he joined a band as a front man full of wild-eyed charisma. Shane initially captured attention with a viral social media moment with “My Boy,” that has since become his signature smash and debut No. 1 single. Shane’s debut EP, County Roads was also released in 2021. His picture-based lyrics and knack for storytelling lead to his signing with UTA and he has since opened for Jason Aldean, Toby Keith, Brothers Osborne Brett Young, Brooks & Dunn and Lady A, to name a few.
