The Keep Nassau Bay Beautiful Committee collaborated with Nassau Bay’s local BSA Troop 1966 to replace flags in various locations throughout the City. Chairman Michelle Weller generously donated funds for this initiative. The flags were replaced on the medians alongNassauBayDrive,Point
LookoutUpperBay,BalHarbourDrive,aswellasattheentranceto SwanLagoonandDavidBraunPark.Duringtheevent,MayorPhil JohnsonsupervisedandsharedtheIwoJimaflagplantingstory withtheScouts.Parks&RecreationCommitteemembersLara FordeandJacobFordeactivelyparticipated,alongsideScoutsHank S.,KenlonS.,MatthewB.,MatthewL.,PatrickS.,andAndyW.,and theirdedicatedleaders,ZacharyWhirley,MikeandHollyBaine,Tom StoneandCouncilmemberSommer Theoldflagswererespectfully retiredbytheScouts,andtheMayortookpartinasolemnflagfoldingceremony.
