PACKAGE THEFT PREVENTION TIPS Thieves are looking to steal packages this time of year. Here are some "how to" tips to help prevent thieves from stealing your packages: 1. Ask for a tracking number. This helps you know when they will be delivered. 2. Request a specific drop off time and date when you will be home to accept your packages. 3. Arrange to have your packages held at the shipping service so you can pick them up. 4. Ask the delivery service to leave your packages at a side or back door. An enclosed porch where packages are out of sight is also a good option. 5. Have your packages delivered to your workplace if possible. 6. Have your packages delivered to the home of a relative or neighbor who will be there to accept them. 7. Ask to have your packages delivered to a retail store so you can pick them up at your convenience. 8. If your package does not arrive as scheduled, contact the sender immediately. Do not rely on security cameras to prevent package thefts. While your security system may very well record thieves stealing your packages, the police department can only file charges if the person or persons are known or identified by someone. It is better to PREVENT the theft rather than trying to track down a thief afterwards. And even if a thief is identified, there is little chance your packages will be recovered.

USMC TOYS FOR TOTS – TOY DRIVE

Due to the COVID pandemic, the annual United States Marine Corps Reserve Unit, Galveston, TX, Toys for Tots drive has been impacted for toy and cash donations. All toys collected in Nassau Bay are redistributed to needy children throughout our area, extending into Galveston and Bay Area counties. The USMC Toys for Tots organization has assisted local kids for more than 30 years, ensuring that thousands of needy children will continue to have gifts to open on Christmas morning. In 2019, 19,586 toys were distributed to 9,149 children. Please consider sharing some love this season by making a toy donation to USMC Toys for Tots. You can drop off new, unwrapped toys to the following local businesses. • CVS, 1610 NASA Parkway • Texas Citizens Bank, 1800 NASA Parkway • Erma’s Nutrition Center, 2332 East NASA Parkway • Houston Methodist Hospital, 18300 Houston Methodist Drive • A Suite Break, 18026 Nassau Bay Drive • Resident Volunteer Diana Clark, 1415 Antigua Ln There are hundreds of needy kids in our immediate area, ranging in age from newborns to 17-year-olds. While most of us tend to think about babies and toddlers when thoughtfully purchasing gifts, teenagers are the most often overlooked age group during this season. Nassau Bay offers a true sense of community with neighbors who look out for one another and are often more like our extended family. Toys for Tots appreciates your willingness to help families who are struggling this year and could use a little help. Checks made to USMC Toys for Tots are also accepted. For additional information, including more drop-off locations, please contact volunteer Diana Clark at 281-507-3387.
