The Post Office is looking a little better lately. Last fall, Coleen Ethridge noticed the lack of curb appeal there and had some ideas about how CANBE might help spruce things up The Board of Trustees reviewed her plan and approved funding for landscaping and pressure washing in November. Working with the property owner, the post office, and local vendors, Coleen orchestrated the makeover that included pressure washing, landscaping along the streetandontheside, anewflag, paintedstanchions, curbpainting, new entrance and exit signs, and new striping for the parking spots. Mostarefinished, andsomewillbedonesoon.
Beautification projects like this are made possible by CANBE fundraisers like Reindeer Fun Run, Stellar Soiree, Paws for a Cause, LegacyBricks, andLegacyBenches.

NassauBayOfficersReceiveLifeSaving Award
Sergeant Jason Vain and Corporal Mike Cavazos were honored for their actions on November 29, 2023. They responded to an emergency call for a 78-year-old man who had collapsed at the Bal Harbor Tennis Courts. Upon arrival, the officers discovered that the man was not breathing They immediately administered CPR while also contacting dispatch and gathering medical information from the patient's friends, who were present at the scene. EMS personnel arrived shortly after and took over the patient's medical care. The man was then transported to the hospital, where he began breathing on his own and was admitted for observation. The EMS personnel credited the officers' quick actions with saving the patient's life
Officer CJ Crider was recognized for conducting a traffic stop on December 16, 2023, for a speeding vehicle. Upon contacting the driver, Officer Crider learned they were on their way to the hospital with a female passenger in the vehicle who had overdosed on an unknown substance Officer Crider assessed the female and observed a discoloration in her skin and her eyes rolling backward while she was in active seizure. He immediately requested medical assistance and then administered his department-issued NARCAN. The medical team advised that the deployment of the NARCAN at that time contributedtothesuccessfultreatmentofthepatient.
Thank you to all three officers for their commitment to the communityanddiligenteffortstoprotectourcitizens.
