DRIVE THROUGH PET BLESSING
COVID has reminded so many of us how essential our animal companions are to our family and how deserving of the Church’s blessing our pets are. Join St. Thomas the Apostle Episcopal Church on Sunday, October 4th, the fest of St Francis, for a drive-through pet blessing in the moonshaped driveway off of San Sebastian (adjacent to Upper Bay Road) from 4:00pm to 5:00pm. MONTHLY FOOD DISTRIBUTIONS
St. Paul Church: St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church is teaming with the Houston Food Bank every Saturday morning at 8:00am through November to distribute food to those in need. In August, over 350 families and 1,500 people have been served each week. More information can be found at www.stpaulcatholic.org/svdp. St. Thomas Church: On Saturday, October 3rd, St. Thomas the Apostle Episcopal Church will continue its monthly fresh food distribution with the Galveston Food Bank to neighbors in need in the area. The September distribution was very successful and helped 84 cars and 399 people with boxes and bags of fresh fruits, vegetables and meat. Those interested in volunteering are encouraged to meet in the St. Thomas parking lot at 8:00am. If you are interested in serving, please email Mike Stone at rector@sttaec.org.
COUNCIL MEETING RECAP AUGUST 31, 2020 - SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING
Received an update on the status of the City of Nassau Bay, post Hurricane Laura. Heard a Presentation and held a Public Hearing on the City Manager’s Proposed Budget for Fiscal Year 2021. Approved Ordinance O2020-803 adopting the Fiscal Year 2021 Annual Budget and appropriating the several sums set therein to the departments and the funds therein named (first and only reading). Received the Tax Year 2020 No-New-Revenue-Rate and the Voter-Approval-Rate calculations. Approved action on the proposal of the Tax Year 2020 (Fiscal Year 2021) ad valorem tax rate of $0.722120. Approved a resolution appointing and reappointing individuals to the Board of Adjustment as discussed in executive session. Appointed Brenda Hesse to the Palm Tree Landscape Plan Task Force.
SEPTEMBER 14, 2020 - REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING

Presented a Proclamation for Fire Prevention Week. Held a Public Hearing and approved the adoption of Ordinance O2020-804 providing for the Levy, Assessment, and Collection of an Ad Valorem Tax for Tax Year 2020 (Fiscal Year 2021). Received the Tax Year 2020 Harris County Certified Appraisal Roll for City of Nassau Bay (Jurisdiction 073) and TIRZ No. 1 (Jurisdiction 278). Authorized the City Manager to execute an agreement with the Bay Area Houston Convention & Visitor’s Bureau (BAHCVB). Discussion and approved action on the rehabilitation of Founder’s Park. Awarded Bid No. 2020-004 Demolition and Removal Project to Arkitektura Development, Inc. for a total amount of $54,777.10. Approved Ordinance O2020-805 Authorizing Issuance of the City of Nassau Bay, Texas, Water and Sewer System Revenue Bonds, Series 2020; prescribing the terms thereof; providing for the payment thereof; awarding the sale thereof; making other provisions regarding such Bonds and matters incident thereto (first and only reading as per City Charter).
