DAYS 12–16 I GUILIN/SHANGHAI Ride the high-speed train to Guilin, then cruise the Li River between limestone karst pinnacles and terraced rice fields. Fly to Shanghai and meet with wildlife photographer Jing Li, a National Geographic Explorer. Ricky Qi Filmmaker and Photographer National Geographic Explorer Ricky Qi is a filmmaker and photographer who has lived and traveled extensively in China. His documentary Under One Roof chronicles the Mosuo people, China’s last matriarchal society, and Ricky recently retraced poet Li Bai’s sojourn up the Yangtze in an article for the Chinese-language edition of National Geographic magazine.
