Collection of papers before the reader is the result of joint effort of the participants and organizers of the scientific meeting held on August 16, August 17 and August 18, 1995, in the Žiča Monastery, and the National Museum in Kraljevo. The event was an integral part of the Spiritual Assembly "Days of Transfiguration," the fourth in a row, but the immediate cause was the completion of extensive research and conservation and restoration works at the Žiča Monastery, initiated after the earthquake that in August 14, 1987, a few days before the Transfiguration, harmed and would seriously jeopardize the Church of the Holy Savior in Žiča. It was the first scientific conference dedicated to this important spiritual center with a view to illuminate more fully its almost eight centuries long duration .
