S
hamanic Practitioner, Nona Lowe of Life Spring Awakening, is offering a traditional drum and rattle workshop on May 9 and May 23 in Spokane. “The drumbeat is the sacred heartbeat of the earth and can be a healing salve and visionary guide,” says Lowe. “In this sacred two-part workshop, I will teach participants how to make their own rawhide drum and rattle in accordance with traditional teachings.” Part one of the workshop includes a full day of teachings and the making of the drum and head of rattle. Part two focuses on awakening the drum as well as rattle completion. “In addition to leaving the workshop with your very own drum and rattle, participants learn the traditional ways to awaken, respect and care for their drum and rattle in keeping with sacred teachings,” shares Lowe. “This workshop will fill up fast, so I encourage anyone who is interested to register now to secure their spot.” Cost: $265 with a $125 non-refundable deposit at time of registration. arlow Ranch Bison Company, located in Thompson Falls, Montana, has been in the Harlow family for over 100 years and is focused on regeneration of the land from the soil to the bison. Adam and Melinda Anakalea and Brad Pierce co-own the ranch and believe strongly in creating a healthy, nutrient-dense ecosystem. “Our ranch starts with degraded soils, nurturing the microbes through nutrition, growing grass to feed the bison—in turn, the bison work the soil and fertilize the ground,” explains co-owner, Melinda Anakalea. “After a few years of life in this cycle, the bison nourish us with healthy, humanely raised meat— there's no chlorine in our water and zero antibiotics in the meat.” Anakalea explains that the bison are at the center of their ranch and their presence is difficult to describe. “They carry a spiritual strength and a peace that is a bit unnerving unless you embrace it and breathe it in,” she explains. “People who work and live and visit the ranch are able to breathe in that peace of these gentle giants, feel the earth under their feet, and gain a new respect for where food comes from.” For more information or to order, visit HarlowRanch.com/shop or call 406-403-4501. Receive a 10 percent discount on your first order when you sign up for their email list prior to April 30. The ranch offers free delivery between Spokane, Washington, Moscow, Idaho, and Missoula and Kalispell, Montana. See ad, page 13.
