Holistic Chamber of Commerce Fosters Spokane’s Wellness Community by Sheila Julson
F
or the past decade, the Holistic Chamber of Commerce (HCC), a member focused, international trade organization, has connected and engaged holistically-minded professionals, practitioners, business owners and resource providers. In February of 2019, Natural Awakenings publisher Amber McKenzie re-launched the Spokane chapter of the HCC to advance the vibrant community of holistic wellness providers and businesses offering natural and sustainable products and services throughout Spokane and North Idaho. The HCC is one of the few organizations tailored specifically toward practitioners of holistic modalities and healing
specialties, and providers of organic, eco-friendly and socially responsible offerings. With 65-plus chapters throughout the United States and Canada, the HCC offers a depth of resources that helps its local chapters like Spokane excel. “Our local Spokane chapter currently has 32 amazing member businesses in the Inland Northwest region, and we look forward to expanding even more in 2020,” says McKenzie. “In January, we’re launching a weekly podcast titled Holistic Northwest Living where we’ll be interviewing local member businesses as well as holistic partners to learn more about what it means to live holistically while featuring all the amazing work going on in our community.”
McKenzie adds that the networking group has a dynamic leadership team that is creating goals and coordinating meaningful education events and community partnerships for 2020. “As a community of local holistic businesses and business service providers, we’re dedicated to creating authentic connections, collaborating and making a healthy difference in our community,” emphasizes this enthusiastic community leader. “One of the many ways we accomplish our goals is through our quarterly Resources for Wellness Education Events, each centered on a specific theme.” The events include guest speakers and opportunities for members to set up
