FITNESS NEW FITNESS PACKAGES!
Arlington Parks & Recreation is now offering a variety of monthly membership packages that allow residents and visitors to enjoy programs and amenities at all recreation, athletics and senior centers across The American Dream City. These tiered membership packages are being offered in lieu of Parks & Recreation’s annual membership program, which had not been updated since 2004. The new monthly membership programs allow Arlington residents to participate in a wide range of Parks & Recreation’s programs at any center without paying additional fees as they would have under the previous membership program. Monthly memberships can be purchased for individuals or for a family of up to five people. Individual membership rates are based on the age of the participant and are discounted for adult residents over the age of 60. Family memberships for anyone living under the same roof up to five people. Additional family members would need to purchase individual membership packages based on age. Non-residents are also eligible to buy a Parks & Recreation monthly membership at a slightly higher cost than residents. Patrons can choose among three levels of membership, based on their needs and interests. For example, someone looking to swim laps at The East’s 113,000-gallon indoor pool or to take advantage of the indoor track at The Beacon may find the basic Blue membership to be the best fit for their fitness needs. A Green membership opens up access to weight room and cardio equipment at all centers. And the Gold membership provides patrons with discounts on select programs and as well as the highest level of access to amenities and programs at all centers, including in-person and virtual fitness classes, roller skating at Elzie Odom, and on-site childcare for up to four children during visits at no extra cost. Ready to begin enjoying all the great amenities and programs that Arlington has to offer? Stop by any of the centers or the Parks & Recreation Administration Office, 717 W. Main St., to sign up today. You can also purchase a membership online; naturallyfun.org. ARLINGTON ISD NATATORIUM
Arlington Aquatics started offering aquatics programming at Arlington ISDs Natatorium March 2020. Lap swim and water walking are available to Arlington Parks members or as an $8 day pass. Visitors wanting to purchase a day pass can do so with a card, no cash or checks will be accepted at the facility. Open swim will not be available at this location. Programming was originally set to start with the natatorium opening in September 2020, but was delayed due to COVID-19 budgetary impacts for the Parks & Recreation Department. Arlington Aquatics programming will take place in the warm up pool located within the natatorium. It is the 25-yard pool that is 4 ft in depth and consists of four lap lanes. No City programming will take place in the 50-meter competition pool. Visitors should note the pool temperature is set to 82 degrees, noticeably different than the East Indoor Pool. Arlington Aquatics’ members will enter through a separate entrance from Arlington ISD located off to the side. This entrance will open onto the pool deck where there will be a lifeguard to assist with check-in. Members will also have access to locker rooms separate from Arlington ISD with showers and bathrooms amenities available for use. In addition to lap swimming and water walking, residents will also be able to register for American Red Cross swimming lessons for children ages 4 to 12 years old as well as to adult beginners, private lessons, and water fitness classes. BOB COOKE PARK FEATURES NEW AMENITIES
Arlington residents are invited to check out The Otis Brown Court and the City’s first Futsal court in East Arlington. Arlington Parks & Recreation hosted a grand reopening celebration Saturday, April 17 to introduce the community to the new amenities at the park, located 2025 Craig Hanking Dr. Special guests included representatives from the Otis and Rosie Brown Foundation, which generously funded the basketball court renovations and 10 new basketballs for the East Library and Recreation Center at Bob Cooke Park. The renovated basketball court, known as The Otis Brown Court, and the basketballs features affirmations, such as Extraordinary is Perseverance and Extraordinary is Grit, that align with the Arlington nonprofit’s Extraordinary Is movement. "The Otis and Rosie Brown Foundation is so excited to have partnered with the City of Arlington to make the dream of The Otis Brown Court a reality. Having our namesakes court right in the heart of The American Dream City brings us so much joy," said Shannon Flowers, Otis and Rosie Brown Foundation Executive Director. "We hope this court will bring just as much joy to the community and anyone who steps foot on it! Together we are Extraordinary!" Also as part of Bob Cooke Park improvements, Arlington Parks & Recreation also transformed the under-utilized tennis courts into the City’s first Futsal court. Futsal is a variant of soccer. The new lighted court can also be used for other games, such as pickleball. Soccer practice fields will be available at the park at a later date. NEW CLUBHOUSE AT TEXAS RANGERS GOLF CLUB The City celebrated the opening of the new clubhouse March 25 at the only MLB-themed golf course in the world. The clubhouse is named in honor of Chester W. Ditto, namesake of the original municipal golf course that opened on the north Arlington site in 1982 after the City purchased the land from the Ditto family in the late 1960s. After a ribbon-cutting ceremony, visitors explored all that the clubhouse at the City’s newest golf course has to offer. Amenities include a fully stocked golf shop, a full-service restaurant with wall-to-wall televisions, a spacious patio area and banquet rooms that can host a variety of events and Texas Rangers memorabilia. The clubhouse and the golf course are both open to the general public. The grand opening event included remarks from Arlington Mayor Jeff Williams, District 1 City Councilwoman Helen Moise, and Rangers Executive Vice President of Business Operations Rob Matwick. The Texas Rangers Golf Club, which opened in 2019 after $24 million in course renovations and a collaborative branding partnership between the City and the Rangers, is a destination course that has helped elevate Arlington’s national reputation and helps draw even more events and visitors to the city, Williams said. The golf club is the closest 18-hole golf course to Arlington’s Entertainment District, offering a chance to play golf in conjunction with a visit to a Rangers or Cowboys game, Texas Live! concert, or the numerous other events at AT&T Stadium, Globe Life Park and Globe Life Field, UTA or Downtown Arlington.

Ditto Clubhouse, golfers can find equipment from all the major manufacturers, golf and lifestyle apparel and other Rangers merchandise. The Home Plate restaurant and bar, led by Executive Chef Matthew Trevino, offers breakfast, lunch and dinner and features 31 televisions. The restaurant and bar are currently open daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Patrons can enjoy a made-from-scratch menu, 10 beers on tap, and an expansive covered patio that offers spectacular golf course views. Rangers memorabilia, including a baseball from Nolan Ryan’s first game with the Rangers and Home Plate from the 1995 All-Star Game, is on loan from the Rangers vault. Other amenities include an executive boardroom, as well as two banquet rooms that can be combined into a single space to fit more than 200 guests for weddings, golf tournaments or other large events. THE BEACON RECOGNIZED WITH TEXO DISTINGUISHED BUILDING AWARD
The two-story, 36,000-square-foot facility was awarded first place by TEXO Sundt Construction, Inc. served as the City of Arlington’s construction manager at risk for The Beacon, located at 1100 Mansfield Webb Road. The two-story, 36,000-square-foot facility was awarded first place by TEXO, a commercial construction association representing North and East Texas, in General Contractor – Building 4 ($10-$30 million) category of its annual Distinguished Building Awards. Winners were selected on criteria that included difficulty in construction, unusual construction techniques involved, final appearance and quality of the finished produce, timeliness of completion, and safety. Community members of all ages and interests are served by The Beacon, which offers them a purpose-built place to stay active and connect with neighbors, friends, and family. The recreation center includes a gymnasium, a fitness stair, cardio and weights area, aerobics and yoga studio, a classroom, administration area and child watch area. Other amenities include an outdoor splash pad, adventure playground, walking trails and a skate park. “This is just another indication this is an outstanding facility provided for the citizens of Arlington. It was designed and constructed to meet the needs of the community, and executed with quality and efficiency,” Arlington Parks and Recreation Assistant Director Scott Fairman said. “To not only be recognized for the recreational value, but now the value of the development, should be a source of pride for the citizens of Arlington.” Arlington Parks and Recreation Director Lemuel Randolph said the collaborative process with Sundt made for efficient and constructible design, a higher-quality outcome, and a greater overall value for the City and the community. The project was also successfully completed with assistance from the City's Asset Management Department. “Sundt did an extraordinary job in managing our project schedule. They were able to open up parts of our facility to the public early at Sundt’s recommended suggestion. We never anticipated that would happen. I was amazed at Sundt’s attention to detail. They dealt with project challenges and unforeseen conditions seamlessly and effectively,” Randolph said. “We had two other similar projects that started before Sundt’s project commenced and Sundt’s was completed before the other two. This was the best-run project I have seen in 30 years.”

BOWMAN SPRINGS PARK IMPROVEMENTS
New sidewalks, a drinking fountain, lighting and parking lot upgrades coming soon! Construction began in January at Bowman Springs Park on a series of improvements. Because of demolition necessary to begin making these improvements, the public park near Lake Arlington is closed to vehicle traffic. Boaters are encouraged to use Richard Simpson Park, located at 6300 W. Arkansas Ln., until further notice. The Arlington City Council approved a $500,000 contract Sept. 29, 2020, with AUI Partners of Fort Worth, for the project, which is expected to be complete by May. Improvements will include construction of a new parking lot entry circle, traffic control speed humps, parking lot islands, concrete sidewalks, new drinking fountain, new irrigation, new subgrade drainage lines, and upgraded LED parking lot fixtures. Bowman Springs Park, originally referred to as "Feather Beach", is a 14-acre park on the southeastern edge of Lake Arlington. The park, located at 7003 Poly Webb Road, also features a fishing pier, a floating dock, an eight-lane boat ramp. Arlington voters approved the park improvements, which align with the Arlington City Council priority to Champion Great Neighborhoods, during the 2014 bond election. Texas Rangers Golf Club was the host site of the inaugural Veritex Bank Championship in late April, a Korn Ferry Tour event that welcomed 156 golfers to Arlington, competing for a $600,000 purse. Tyson Alexander overcame a five-stroke deficit to start the round for a come-from-behind victory at 23-under after a finalround 64. Alexander topped Theo Humphrey by one stroke to claim his first career Korn Ferry Tour win. A five-year agreement between the City of Arlington, Veritex Bank and Anera Sports was signed in 2020 to host the event annually at Texas Rangers Golf Club. The 2020 tournament was canceled due to COVID-19. Next year's event is scheduled for April 18-24, 2022.

Arlington Golf and the Texas Rangers have partnered to build the world’s only Major League Baseball-branded golf course — the Texas Rangers Golf Club — which opened in February 2019. This collaborative branding partnership, along with $24 million in course renovations, affords the opportunity for Arlington to offer a destination golf course for both Arlington residents and visitors alike.
Welcome to Home Plate at Texas Rangers Golf Club. Founded in 2021, the full service restaurant and bar is open to the public daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Patrons will enjoy a made-from-scratch menu and 10 beers on tap, paired with spectacular golf course vistas. Wall-to-wall TVs for your sports viewing pleasure, including 31 TVs within the restaurant and bar alone.
“As the world’s only MLB-themed golf course, this course is sure to be a ‘bucket list’ item for baseball fans across the globe, especially our Rangers fan right here in Arlington,” Mayor Jeff Williams said.
Expansive covered patio overlooking the golf course is the perfect spot for al fresco dining. Customers can also enjoy cocktails at one of the many outdoor patio seating areas on the events lawn overlooking the golf course.
The golf club is open to the public seven days a week. Texas Rangers Golf Club is the closest 18-hole golf course to Arlington’s Entertainment District, offering a chance to play golf in conjunction with a visit to a Dallas Cowboys or Texas Rangers Game, TexasLive!, or the numerous other events at AT&T Stadium, Globe Life Park, UTA or downtown Arlington.
Executive Chef Matthew Trevino will lead the kitchen at Home Plate after nearly five years within the Ritz-Carlton Company, with roles in Dallas and Lake Tahoe.
A $24 million project, Texas Rangers Golf Club involved a total renovation and updated routing of the existing golf course with improved turf grasses and additional water features. A new 33,871-square-foot clubhouse, set to open in early 2020, will feature a full-service restaurant and bar, covered patio overlooking the golf course, pro shop, locker rooms, and numerous rental and event spaces.

It’s hard to find a more beautiful course than the award-winning Tierra Verde Golf Club. Tierra Verde is the first golf course in Texas, and the first municipal course in the world, to be certified as an Audubon Signature Sanctuary. Walk onto the first tee and enter an environment where golf and nature come together in harmony. Opened in 1998 and carved from 250 acres of secluded terrain, the course’s unsurpassed layout encompasses a variety of natural settings and offers an outstanding playing experience on every hole. The course has hosted many prestigious events, including the Byron Nelson Qualifying Tournament.
Trade the typical parking lot views of other restaurants for Ventana Grille and the sights and sounds of Tierra Verde Golf Club — the first Audubon Signature Sanctuary golf course in Texas — where golf, dining and nature come together. Open to the public daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and offering a takeout menu, Ventana Grille’s affordable options under $10 makes it the perfect place for your next meal.
Tierra Verde has been named the top golf course in the Metroplex for three years (2012-14) by AvidGolfer magazine.*
Ideally located less than three miles from I-20 off US 287, Ventana Grille is an excellent place to grab a bite to eat and enjoy a couple of drinks after your round of golf. It’s a quick casual lunch spot for you and your co-workers, and the ideal setting to celebrate your next special event.
Each hole has five sets of tees, sculpted fairways, strategically placed sand bunkers and water hazards - all accented by stately trees and beautiful native grasses.
The kitchen is open daily from 6:30 AM to 9 PM and features Avid Golfer’s ‘Best Breakfast Burrito’ and daily lunch specials ranging from $7.95 to $9.95.
The facility features a state-of-the-art golf learning center, a lighted driving range, three-hole practice course and large chipping and putting green complex. Lessons and clinics are taught by PGA/LPGA professionals and apprentices, an outdoor pavilion and full-service restaurant, Ventana Grille, that complement every event from small corporate outings to large fundraising tournaments.
Be sure to visit ArlingtonGolf.com to see a list of upcoming events at Ventana Grille. Whether you are attending one of our special holiday functions, Ticket to Travel dinners or are just enjoying a meal away from home, Ventana Grille promises to be a delight to the taste buds. Catering, wedding receptions, private parties, to-go orders and special requests are welcome. Take the stress off and let us handle the details for your upcoming event. Lake Arlington Golf Course is a beautiful, 18-hole facility nestled on 185 acres on the north shore of Lake Arlington. The course was designed with all types of players in mind. With the newly renovated fairways and greens, the course provides a great golfing experience at an exceptional value. Lake Arlington’s time-honored design blends open and tree-lined fairways, long challenging par 3’s and scenic greens to appeal to every level of player. A challenge for the professional as well as the beginner, the four sets of tees, ranging from 5,485 yards to 6,637 yards, provides a fair playing field that appeals to every level. The clubhouse features a well stocked pro shop and grill. Lake Arlington’s combination of enjoyable golf, convenient location and professional staff create the perfect setting for group outings and tournaments.
Arlington’s tradition of outstanding golf began in the 1920’s with Meadowbrook Park Golf Course. Conveniently located just east of downtown Arlington, the golf course provides an excellent choice for families and leagues. The golf course is the centerpiece of Arlington’s first city park. Arlington purchased the 52-acre site in 1923 and it was sponsored by the Arlington Rotary Club. The site includes picnic grounds and the tree-filled nine-hole golf course. Many of the holes feature vistas of nearby AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys. Meadowbrook Park is the perfect facility to learn golf and sharpen short-game skills. The 9-Hole, par-33 layout consists of six par 4s, 250 to 300 yards in length, and three par 3s, approximately 150 yards in length.
The course offers challenging golf along with a practice putting green and chipping area at an exceptional value.
The course can be easily walked or played under time constraints and has a long-standing commitment to beginning adult and junior golfers. Golf legends Ben Hogan and Byron Nelson once led golf clinics here.
A Ralph Plummer design, the course was renovated in 1998 and celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2013.
Its small greens and narrow fairways are designed to challenge every level of player.
Avid Golfer voted Lake Arlington the most kid-friendly course in DFW in 2013, while the layout garnered a Top-50 public course ranking in the publication too.
The clubhouse offers a full line pro shop, concessions, and golf cart rentals. Exclusive facility rental opportunities are available for both golf and non-golf outdoor activities.
PGA Head Professional Michael Berneburg and his staff offer golf lessons for all ages and ability levels. Call 817-451-6101 for rates and availability.
With a long-standing commitment to environmental enhancement and preservation, Meadowbrook Park Golf Course is like a walk in the park for the whole family!

MUSIC UNDER THE STARS
The Levitt Pavilion for the Performing Arts in Arlington presents more than 50 free outdoor concerts a year with a broad-based concert calendar of professional musical artists, from world music to jazz and home-grown Texas country to hot Indie artists. The Levitt presents original artists, many of them Grammy Award winners. Last concert season, the Levitt Pavilion attracted more than 73,200 people to Downtown Arlington from three countries, 23 states and 123 cities. The Levitt Pavilion experience is about building community as families, school groups, entire neighborhoods and people from all parts of our area join side by side in a safe, fun, casual atmosphere to enjoy live music together. Many of these families and groups would not have the opportunity to experience the magic of live music if they had to pay ticket prices. The Levitt Pavilion gives our community an accessible gathering place for free music open to everyone – all ages, all ethnicities, all neighborhoods and all income levels. Levitt Pavilion Arlington brings music and the performing arts to Arlington in a way thousands are responding to – available to everyone to enjoy under the stars.
