Produrre in modo sostenibile è possibile, soprattutto per chi come noi ha intrapreso un percorso di cresciuta e maturazione di principi ambientali divenuti ormai radicati. La nostra azienda ha iniziato a pianificare gli attuali metodi di coltivazione ormai da molto tempo. Sono più di venti anni che l’interesse verso il miglioramento dei processi produttivi sono stati evidenziati con le prime certificazioni di qualità, ISO e MPS. Poi è venuto il momento di EMAS, una certificazione di carattere ambientale. La volontà aziendale è poi evidenziata dalle scelte pratiche tese verso un moderno vivaismo integrato sempre più biologico. Utilizzare meno prodotti di sintesi per la difesa delle piante obbliga la scelta di mezzi tecnici diversi dal convenzionale. In tutti i nostri vivai c’è un controllo quotidiano a cui segue l’intervento più funzionale e meno impattante possibile: vengono lanciati antagonisti contro afidi ed acari, applicati diffusori per il disorientamento sessuale e utilizzati prodotti di origine biologica. I risultati sono confortanti tanto che l’abbattimento dell’uso di sostanze chimiche ha raggiunto percentuali davvero importanti. Proprio la valorizzazione del verde e la sensibilizzazione delle persone verso una rinnovata coscienza ambientale sono stati gli obiettivi di un’importante iniziativa aziendale, Cosimo degli Alberi, il primo libro illustrato per bambini edito dalla Giorgio Tesi Editrice. Cosimo è stato il protagonista di un grande evento nel centro storico di Pistoia, capitale europea dei vivai, allestito per l’occasione con decine di installazioni a verde che hanno accompagnato oltre 500 bambini ed i loro familiari alla scoperta di una città medievale, inaspettatamente, dal cuore verde. Il nostro impegno è continuare ad investire in progetti di sensibilizzazione rivolti ai cittadini e alle stesse istituzioni per un maggior utilizzo del verde nelle città nelle quali viviamo: una scelta ecologica che migliorerebbe la nostra qualità della vita. La nostra azienda inoltre, è da sempre vicina all’arte e dopo aver ospitato nel 2017 i creativi del progetto CCT SEE CITY Travellers provenienti da tutto il mondo per raccontare con le loro opere la città e il territorio, lo scorso anno, nell’ambito del Progetto Giorgio Tesi eARTh - Growing Creativity che nasce dall’unione tra terra, arte e creatività ha realizzato, in collaborazione con l’artista pistoiese Michele Fabbricatore il “Giardino della Mente”, un luogo dove la natura si unisce sapientemente all’arte, e l’architettura e il design arricchiscono il paesaggio verde dei vivai, che diventano l’ideale palcoscenico per esclusive opere d’arte. Il Giardino della Mente è la prima installazione di una serie realizzata in collaborazione con l’artista pistoiese Michele Fabbricatore: un luogo nel quale la natura si unisce all’arte, la scultura enfatizza la bellezza delle piante e l’architettura e il design arricchiscono un paesaggio verde. L’artista ha immaginato la nostra mente, la parte più preziosa poiché esprime i nostri valori, come una bella pianta che per rimanere tale deve essere nutrita e coltivata.
Producing sustainably is possible, especially for those like us that have initiated an environmental principles growth and maturing path, which is now deeply rooted. Our company has started planning the current cultivation methods a long time ago. The interest regarding the production processes improvement started over twenty years and is evidenced by the first ISO and MPS quality certifications. Then came the EMAS, a certification of environmental type. The company’s will, is also evidenced by the practical choices aimed at modern nursery gardening more and more biologically integrated. Using less synthesis products for the protection of the plants implies the choice of technical methods different from the conventional ones. In all our nurseries there is a daily check followed by the more functional intervention with the lowest impact possible: antagonists against aphids and mites are launched, diffusers are applied for sexual disorientation and products of biological origin are used. The results are encouraging, in fact the reduction in use of chemical substances has reached considerably important percentages. The valorisation of green and sensitisation of people towards a renewed environmental awareness were the objectives of an important company initiative, Cosimo degli Alberi, the first illustrated book for children published by Giorgio Tesi Editrice. Cosimo was the protagonist of a great event in the historical centre of Pistoia, European capital of nurseries, organised for the occasion with dozens of green installations that accompanied over 500 children and their families to the discovery of a medieval city, unexpectedly, with a green heart. Our commitment is to continue investing in awareness projects aimed at citizens and the same institutions for greater use of green in the cities in which we live: an ecological choice that would improve our quality of life. Moreover, our company has always been close to art and after having hosted in 2017 the creatives of the CCT SEE CITY Travellers project coming from all over the world to narrate, through their works, about the city and the territory, last year within the Giorgio Tesi eARTh - Growing Creativity Project that is the result of the combination of earth, art, and creativity, realised in collaboration with the artist from Pistoia Michele Fabbricatore the “Garden of the Mind”, a place where nature combines with art, and architecture and design enrich the green landscape of the plant nurseries, which become the ideal scenario for exclusive artworks. The Garden of the Mind is the first installation of a series realised in collaboration with the artist from Pistoia Michele Fabbricatore: a place where nature combines with art, and sculpture emphasises the beauty of green, and architecture and design enrich the landscape. The artist imagined our mind, the most precious part since it expresses our values, like a beautiful plant that has to be nourished and cultivated.

La produzione si estende adesso su oltre 500 ettari di superficie (di cui 362 per colture in piena terra, 116 in vaso e 22 coperti a serre e ombrari); ad oggi l’azienda conta più di 200 dipendenti fissi distribuiti nel settore produttivo e commerciale e dislocati nei 18 vivai di produzione situati a Pistoia e nelle 4 filiali. Piadena, (uno dei più estesi del nord Italia) è specializzato nell’alberatura a pieno campo e in vaso di latifoglie. Nella nuova filiale di Grosseto e in quelle di Orbetello e San Benedetto del Tronto l’azienda produce piante mediterranee e più adatte al clima mite.

The production extends onto more than 500 hectares of surface (of which 362 is for plants that are planted in land, 116 in vases and 22 covered by greenhouses and high tunnels); today the company includes more than 200 permanent employees throughout the production and commercial sector of the 18 nurseries situated in Pistoia and in the company’s 4 branches. In Piadena, (one of the many in northern Italy) specializes in trees in the open field and in vases of Broad Leaf plants. In the new branches of Grosseto and Orbetello and San Benedetto del Tronto the company produces Mediterranean plants that are more adapt to the moderate climate.

It cultivates over 1.500 varieties of plants with 2.7 million plants in production for 2500 customers worldwide. Nella filiale si trova un cash & carry, con un’area di carico al coperto, che viene rifornito quotidianamente con piante di produzione della sede e delle altre filiali, a disposizione di tutti i clienti.

In Piadena a very wide range of avenue trees in different varieties and dimensions is produced; from young plants to older ones regularly transplanted and pruned, which allow satisfying any kind of market need; there are also forked at the base and shaped plants, suitable for various uses in urban and suburban environments. The branch also includes a cash & carry, with a covered loading area; the cash & carry is supplied daily with plants produced in the headquarters and other branches for the customers.
Il laboratorio di ricerca varietale LA FILIALE VANTA UN IMPORTANTE PATRIMONIO DI RICERCA SVILUPPATO DALL’ISTITUTO PER LA PROTEZIONE DELLE PIANTE DEL CNR IN OLTRE 30 ANNI DI ATTIVITÀ
Situata a Roselle a pochi Km da Grosseto, nel cuore della Maremma Toscana, con i suoi 70 ettari di colture in pieno campo e 20 ettari di vasetteria, è specializzata nella produzione delle piante tipiche maremmane e della costa Tirrenica di ogni dimensione come Pistacia Lentiscus, Phyllira Angustifollia, Arbutus Unedo, Rhamnus alaternus, Pinus Pinea, Quercus Ilex, Quercus suber, ecc.... In questa filiale l’Istituto per la Protezione delle Piante del CNR sta portando avanti la sperimentazione dei cloni di cipresso resistenti al fungo denominato Seiridium cardinale, volgarmente detto “cancro del cipresso”, quali: Bolgheri, Agrimed, Mediterraneo e Italico di cui la Giorgio Tesi Group ha la coesclusiva a livello mondiale per la loro produzione e commercializzazione. Queste varietà sono disponibili sia in filiale sia nella sede di Pistoia, dalle giovani piante fino a esemplari di 10-11 metri.

Located in Roselle, a few Km from Grosseto, in the heart of Maremma Toscana, with its 70 hectares of open field cultivations and 20 hectares of potted plants, it is specialised in the production of the typical Maremma and Tyrrhenian coast plants of any dimension. In this branch the Institute of Plant Protection of the CNR has been conducting the experimentation for cypress tree cloning resistant to the fungus called Seiridium cardinale, better known as “cypress cancer”, such as: Bolgheri, Agrimed, Mediterraneo, and Italico of which Giorgio Tesi Group has the worldwide co-exclusive for their production and commercialisation. These varieties are available both at the branch and at the headquarters of Pistoia, from young plants to 10-11 metre older ones.

Apart from these varieties, which are the mostly produced in the branch, unique plants of Olive tree, Punic tree, Ceratonia, Arbutus, Eucalyptus, Philirea, Tamarix, Pistacia, and Pinus Pinea are also available in pot and ready to be delivered all year round.

L’ 80% della produzione della filiale è costituita dalle varietà di Nerium Oleander, Pittosperum Tobira, Laurus Nobilis, Quercus ILex, che sono prodotte nelle più svariate forme e misure, dai contenitori più piccoli ai grandi cespugli fino agli esemplari a palla, cono, paracaduti e alberetti.

The branch is located near the Adriatic Sea, an area dedicated to the production of Mediterranean plants with unique characteristics such as colour, robustness, growth, and resistance, which are unmatched by the others produced in other Italian regions.80% of the branch production is constituted by the varieties of Nerium Oleander, Pittosperum Tobira, Laurus Nobilis, and Quercus Ilex, which are produced in the most different shapes and sizes, from the smallest pots to large bushes, to the ball, cone, umbrella, and standard shaped ones.

Offriamo le piante di rose in forme tradizionali (vaso, radice nuda, arbusto, rampicante) in contenitore oppure assemblate in forme e strutture: gazebo, colonna, spalliere, piramidi, ombrelli e campane. Giorgio Tesi Vivai è stata la prima azienda vivaistica italiana ad ottenere la certificazione EMAS. Il mercato, le tante specie e varietà presenti in coltivazione e le restrizioni normative, impongono una forte elasticità nella gestione degli aspetti tecnici in vivaio. La prevenzione ha inizio dal campo, con la consapevolezza che piante sane siano più pronte a resistere a stress. Stiamo lavorando verso una coltivazione maggiormente sostenibile, con tecniche sempre più mirate e in linea con quanto richiesto dalla difesa di tipo biologico. Fondamentale è anche il contatto con enti di ricerca, quali CNR e università, e aziende produttrici di mezzi per la difesa. Molti di loro vedono in noi un modello dinamico e con un obiettivo chiaro: ridurre l’utilizzo di agrofarmaci di sintesi per un rispetto ambientale sempre più concreto.
The market, the many species and varieties present in cultivation, and the regulation restrictions, require strong elasticity in the management of the technical aspects in the nursery. Prevention starts from the field, with the awareness that healthy plants resist more to stress. We are working towards a mostly sustainable cultivation, with techniques more and more specific and in line with what required by the biological type of protection. Fundamental is also the contact with research organisations, such as CNR (National Research Council) and universities, and companies that produce protection means. Many of them see us as a dynamic model with a clear objective: reduce the use of synthesis plant protection products to respect the environment more and more concretely.
Cupressus La Giorgio Tesi Group ha avviato da alcuni anni programmi di miglioramento genetico delle piante allo scopo di offrire piante selezionate sia per i caratteri ornamentali e paesaggistici ma soprattutto per la resistenza alle malattie più gravi. Per valorizzare nuove varietà di cipresso, l’azienda ha stipulato con il Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche un contratto di licenza di brevetto in Italia e all’Estero, sui seguenti cipressi selezionati per la resistenza alla malattia “Cancro del Cipresso”: Cupressus sempervirens “Agrimed 1”, Cupressus sempervirens “Bolgheri”, Cupressus sempervirens “Mediterraneo” e Cupressusu sempervirens “Italico”.

A few years ago, Giorgio Tesi Group has initiated programmes for the genetical improvement of plants, aiming at offering plants selected both for ornamental and landscape features and especially for resistance against the most serious diseases. To valorise new varieties of cypress, the company has stipulated with the “Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche” (National Research Council) a patent licence contract in Italy and abroad, for the following cypresses selected for resistance against the disease called “Cypress Cancer”: Cupressus sempervirens “Agrimed 1”, Cupressus sempervirens “Bolgheri”, Cupressus sempervirens “Mediterranean”, and Cupressus sempervirens “Italian”.

Questa specie arborea può raggiungere anche i 30 m di altezza, con chioma ampia fino a 10 m e più, con forma variabile da piramidale ad ovale. Una caratteristica fortemente decorativa è la loro colorazione autunnale intensamente di color giallo. Si adatta a molteplici tipi di terreno e non subisce danni fino a -30 °C. Un fattore di rilievo che valorizza questa pianta è la sua resistenza alle malattie, agli agenti fungini patogeni e ai fitofagi, ma soprattutto resistente all’inquinamento atmosferico.
This tree species can reach a height of 30 m, with ample top up to over 10 m, with a variable shape from pyramidal to oval. A strongly decorative characteristic is their autumn intense yellow colour. It adapts to different types of terrain, without damages up to a temperature of -30 °C. A remarkable feature of this plant is its resistance to diseases, fungal pathogen and phytophagous agents, but it is especially resistant to atmospheric pollution.

Gingko biloba ‘Globosa Tinia’® Pianta a forma globosa, molto ramificata, reagisce bene alla potatura, si possono avere chiome a sfera di varie dimensioni. Gingko biloba ‘Colonnare Maris’® Rami con portamento verticale, molto addossati, elevata ramificazione, foglie con laciniatura leggera.
Gingko biloba ‘Fastigiata Selvans’® Very strong branches overhanging on the trunk, thick branching, leader terminal bud, and very deeply lobed leaf blade lamina. Gingko biloba ‘Fastigiata Feronia’® Very thick branches starting from the base forming a compact cone; lobed light green leaves. Gingko biloba ‘Globosa Tinia’® Globular plant, thick and compact branching, reacts well to pruning; it is possible to obtain spherical crowns of various dimensions. Giorgio Tesi Group launched the idea of “green spacers”, an eco-friendly solution for maintaining social distancing between people and complying with the anti-Covid-19 security measures at bars, restaurants, beaches, and all other accommodations facilities. This line of plants offers many varieties and sizes, such as flowering espaliers, shrubs, and fruit plants. Customizable by height, size, and environmental conditions, they can all be adapted to any setting. Nurseries Virtual Tour is a multimedia platform designed by Giorgio Tesi Group to visit our nurseries and production, an innovative method for communicating with our customers all over the world. A map guides you in choosing which production center to explore. Once selected, you can browse around to choose the area on the basis of those varieties that interest you, getting botanical and sales information. You can send a quote or an information request to your sales representative. The system is based on 360-degree panoramic photography, with which you can observe the surrounding environment from different points of view, thus giving realistic, highquality views of spaces and situations.

The company communication projects aim at valorising the green and beauties of our territory with the objective of stimulating a new environmental awareness in the people. An example of this is the great event “Cosimo degli Alberi” organised to launch the homonymous book for children edited by Giorgio Tesi Editrice, and for this occasion the historic centre of Pistoia was decorated with dozens of green installations admired by over 500 children and their families. Da questa stagione sportiva il marchio Giorgio Tesi Group torna in qualità di Title Sponsor sulle maglie del Pistoia Basket 2000 dopo cinque indimenticabili anni di successi. Sempre nel mondo del basket, molto importante l’accordo raggiunto con la Nico Basket Pistoia, compagine che da tre anni milita con successo nel campionato di serie A2 femminile. Continua con reciproca soddisfazione anche la proficua collaborazione con la Blue Volley di Quarrata, società di serie B1 di pallavolo. Tra le tante iniziative dell’azienda legate al mondo dello sport, il “fiore all’occhiello”, soprattutto per il suo duplice ruolo sportivo e sociale è rappresentato dal progetto Giorgio Tesi Junior, ideato nel 2016 con lo scopo di sostenere lo sport pistoiese premiando le realtà che si distinguono per la promozione dei valori sportivi e nell’organizzazione del settore giovanile. Also noteworthy in the world of basketball is the agreement reached with the Nico Basket Pistoia team, which played successfully for three years in the women’s A2 series. Likewise, the rewarding alliance with Quarrata’s Blue Volley, a B1 series volleyball club, continues to everyone’s mutual satisfaction. Among the company’s many sports initiatives, the “crown jewel”, primarily because of its dual sporting and social roles, is the Giorgio Tesi Junior project.
