Editor’s Desk Dear Readers, Large Format Printer Market size demonstrates a steady growth owing to the large format printing services that assist in delivering the marketers’ brand messages effectually to a larger audience. These printers make use of the droplet technology, which creates clear and sharp images that are visible from a larger distance. Despite the bigger size, these printers can print high-quality and efficient documents and are used for printing marketing collaterals such as banners, posters, stickers, and pull-up banners for major businesses, which will drive the growth of the large format printer market. Factors such as printing as per the required quantity and withstanding extreme environmental conditions without fading also contribute to the market growth. There has been an increase in the demand for large format printing at the industrial level including advertising, textile, and packaging. Mobile printing facilities allow the user to print documents directly using the mobile phone or any other wireless device, which will spur the market demand. Moreover, the adoption of UV curable ink for large format printers assists in printing robust images, which can be applied to a wide range of substrates, such as wood, foam board, glass and cardboard, driving the demand for UV cured inks, which in turn will spur the growth of the large format printer market.

Whatever be the market situation, Image King will strictly follow the principle of providing high quality products. This is Image King’s first exclusive showroom outside Chennai and it is also a milestone in their expansion into North India. About the latest challenges they are facing, Masood Khan briefed, “It is unfortunate that several aftermarket players are presently engaging in price-games to push

toner powder, which places us as one of the top provides in the imaging consumables industry. A few months back we upgraded our bottle packaging plant from semi-automatic to fully-automatic which significantly increased our packaging capability. We are enjoying good market share for OPC drums too. IMAGE STAR always follows a strategy based and developed on our own experience, insight, honesty and quality-centered approach. And we have been successful so far and we are confident that we will succeed in future too. My advice to all the partners is to be successful in the trade, walk with the leaders in the industry and give their best to the industry and the end users; don’t sell cheap and low

FACE TO FACE

“Price wars and low quality imaging consumables are corrupting the market” Recently, Goel Imports has also been an importer and provider of PrintRite toners and OPC drums. Goel Imports deals only laser toner compatibles, but not in inks or the related consumables. Goel Imports India is a leading New Delhibased importer, trader, supplier, wholesaler and distributor of imaging products and also office supplies like lamination machines and consumables. Goel Imports provides imaging products in bulk as well as under their own brand name Gi2. The company is led by Tarun Gupta and his son Sanyam Gupta. Excerpts of the interview:

bout the comfort their new branch in Mumbai created, Tarun Gupta shares, “Earlier we used to dispatch products from our New Delhi head office, which used to take much longer to reach the faraway places in South and West India regions. Now, after our new branch and warehouse in Mumbai are opened, we are able to provide the products within a short time to our customers in South Indian states of Karnataka, Telangana, etc and also in West Indian states of Maharashtra and Gujarat; the supply time intervals have reduced significantly and took us several steps closer to our partners and customers.” Goel Imports brand Gi2 is a popular brand among the customers across India and the product portfolio under the brand includes OPC drum for laser cartridges, PCR, mag roller, pressure roller, D/W Blades, toner powders and compatible toner cartridges, lamination machines, lamination pouches,

Sanyam Gupta shares, “Quality is our main selling point and we import from standard and tested providers from China. Our prices are affordable but not the lowest as quality comes at a cost. We have pan-India customer-base and it is growing. GST has been good as now most people are doing business with bill and this has reduced grey market significantly.” Regarding market trends and challenges, Tarun Gupta asserts, “Cheap and low-quality, cheap goods imported from China are corrupting the market. Those refillers and remanufacturers who use low quality products are killing the market. Next, the price wars between different providers are another issue in the market. Providers are cutting prices just to make some quick money, but in the long-run this attitude will hurt everyone. All the important players in the imaging industry and the media like Imaging Solution magazine should work together to formulate guidelines as to how to work according to a code-of-conduct to promote quality and maintain decent operating prices, instead of each industry member acting his own way. Both providers and users should concentrate more on quality and less on price. The industry players should focus on doing ethical business and shed and discourage unethical business practices. We also need some mature and strong imaging industry associations which will work objectively to bring in certain order and organize the Indian imaging industry which still remains unorganized.” Regarding their future plans, Tarun Gupta briefs, “Currently, we are growing at an average annual rate of 20%. In future, we want to trade in higher quantities, increase our brand presence further and expand our business. Right now we are exporting to Nepal and Bhutan on a smaller scale, but in future, we want to increase our exports.”

Infocare Systems: Prominent Laser Printer Spare Parts Provider Infocare is all set to add laser toner printer cartridges, OPC drums and copier parts to its portfolio. Today, for laser printer parts Infocare is a one-stop-solution. Mr. Sarabjeet Singh, Proprietor, Infocare Systems

I

nfocare Systems is a New Delhi-based provider of printer, plotter and passbook spare parts. Infocare provides unbranded high quality laser printer parts for machines of several top brands, including HP, Canon, Brother, Kyocera, etc. Now, Infocare is all set to add laser toner printer cartridges, OPC drums and copier parts to its portfolio. Today, for laser printer parts Infocare is a onestop-solution. Sarabjeet Singh, Director, Infocare Systems, shares, “Currently, our main business is providing high quality laser printer machine parts. Now we want to add more products including laser printer cartridges, OPC drums and copier machine parts. We want to be one of the biggest players for laser printer cartridges in the coming years. Currently, we have no intention to start our own brand and we will continue to focus only on bulk selling and wholesaling.” Talking about how they are different from others, the challenges they are facing and how they deal with challenges, Sarabjeet comments, “We import high quality laserprinterpartsandwegivewarrantyandservicesupport to the users. Most others import from cheap providers from China and their products do not carry any warranty and service support. So those who purchase from us are secure and safe, besides getting good quality products. If you want to repair printers you need several parts from cartridges and screws—we provide all parts A-Z related printers parts whereas others may provide only some of the parts; we are a one stop destination for laser printer parts. We will deal only with limited, select partners in each state, not with everyone. What other providers are doing is they give the same products to several partners in the same city or

January 2019 IMAGING SOLUTION

area thus increasing to the unhealthy competition. Other challenge in the market is the increasing competition in imaging industry as it is the case in every other industry. To overcome this situation, we are adding more products like laser toner cartridges, OPC drums, copier parts and widening our portfolio. We are sure that this strategy will work.’’ Sarabjeet Singh adds, “Our main emphasis is on good quality, ethical business practices, good after-sales-service with warranty and better customer satisfaction. We pay special attention to customer satisfaction. Once customers come to us, in most cases, they do not leave us; they remain attached to us for a long time. GST has been a good step by the government, but its implementation is not total at present and many sellers are still trading in cash evading tax and this pushes those like us who pay GST into a disadvantage and makes competing difficulty in the market. We hope after 2019 elections, GST will be strictly implemented leaving no space for grey market. We import from tested providers from Europe and China. We have a network of about 100 committed partners spread panIndia. Currently, we are growing at an annual rate of around 30%. In 2019, we want to expand our business further into new territories where we are not still strong.” On message to the partners, Sarabjeet concludes, “I advice the partners already in the imaging line to stick to the line, not to stray into other areas because one plus point with the imaging line is here people can do business with limited investment and basic technical knowledge whereas in other lines (such as IT) the needed basic investment could be in millions of rupees and the outcomes or returns could be highly uncertain and risky.”
