n e w s u p d at e Marco Earns Spot as a Core Technology Provider in Wisconsin

Thanks to organic growth, high customer satisfaction and recent acquisitions, Marco has become a staple in Wisconsin. The technology provider offers comprehensive services, including copier/printer, managed print services, managed IT, voice, carrier services, audio/video and data solutions. Marco entered the Wisconsin region in 2011 – with a single office in Eau Claire – and Marco built its Wisconsin footprint from that first office and only three employees. Today, the company has seven offices across the state and 139 employees.“Starting and growing Wisconsin was an exciting risk. I’m so grateful for our clients who put their trust in us early on and believed in us when we were still the new kids in town,” said Kevin Schmidt, Marco Sales Director. In 2011, Schmidt moved his family from the Twin Cities to Eau Claire, leaving an established sales role to take a chance with his future. “Moving our family was risky; I left behind a great job, but I believed we could grow in our new region,” said Schmidt. And grow the company they did. Since venturing into Wisconsin, Marco has integrated six businesses, including Enterprise Systems Group, Northeast Photocopy, Hadley Office Products and the most recent Accent Business Solutions.

“High GST Rate Made Copiers Costlier for the Customers besides Reducing Margins to Sellers”

D

as Copier Services is a Chindwara (MP) based provider of RC and new copier machines of all prominent brands including Konica Minolta, Canon, Kyocera, Toshiba, Xerox, etc. The company also provides repair services and after-sales-services to copier machines. Chindwara is closely located to Nagpur, Bhopal and Jabalpur cities. Sanjay Das, Proprietor of Das Copier Services, shares, “Our customers come mostly from Chindwara town and from the surrounding districts. We also provide OEM and compatible copier consumables without brand. Our main selling points are good & prompt service, long-term relations based on trust, transparent transactions and policy aimed at good customer satisfaction. RC and brand new machines form nearly 50% and 50% of our sales and we sell minimum of five machines a month, including RC and brand new. Brand new machines have less number of service issues whereas RC machines have comparatively more service problems, so in

Mr. Sanjay Das, Proprietor, Das Copier Services future we want to focus more on selling brand new machines. Color usage is increasing rapidly, though right now proportion of color usage is less compared to black. The GST seems to be good as it reduces formalities, but the rate on copier machines is very high, so it made the machines costlier for the customers besides making the margins smaller for the sellers. So particularly in the copier segment, GST has a negative effect. Currently, we are growing at an annual rate of 20%. We are content with our growth and will try to expand our business further in coming times.”

LD Products Launches New Business Inkjet Cartridge Family for Use in HP 970XL and 971XL

LD Products Channel Partner Division is excited to announce the release of the HP Business Ink Series to its award-winning GOLD Line Series. The popular HP 970XL and 971XL are the first of several launches to come soon for the HP Business Ink Series under the LD GOLD Line Brand. By popular demand, LD Products Channel Partner Division has initiated the launch due to feedback from dealers who were claiming that competitor’s remanufactured products weren’t performing well and often clogged printheads leading to dealer service calls. Since adding the 970XL and 971XL to our Gold Line series, LD Products Channel Partner Division has received positive reviews from its current dealers who have been testing the series in the field. LD constantly strives for excellence and takes pride in its title of having North America’s lowest return rate of a fraction of 1%.This series was engineered and launched in response to dealer demand for aftermarket ink that worked, didn’t clog up print heads or destroy printers. “Over the past two years that we have been working on this Inkjet family, we have tested most of our competitors’ products and found them to be lacking in comparison to the OEM ink formulation and how it interacts with the print head,” stated Matt Daniel, vice president, product development. “Typically, aftermarket ink formations can dry inside the print head leading to voids (missing areas down the page) requiring customers or dealer technicians to perform multiple cleaning cycles to unclog print heads (which wastes more ink!), or in many cases replace the print head or the device. Our product is engineered and has been tested to the same exacting standards as the rest of our GOLD Line series of toner cartridges, so if you are unsatisfied with our competitors’ products, but you still want to make savings over OEM prices, we think you’ll be very pleased with the performance of our 970/971 series.”With the findings in the Buyers Lab Inc. (BLI) report in April 2019, LD Products has continued to achieve superb cartridge quality and performance versus OEM cartridges. The HP Business Ink series is just more validation to our consistent and award-winning quality.”

Canon Expands UVgel Printer Family with New Ocè Colorado 1650

Canon U.S.A., Inc. is pleased to announce the new Océ Colorado 1650 large format graphics printer, expanding the family of roll-to-roll devices featuring Canon UVgel technology. The Océ Colorado 1650 introduces Océ FLXfinish technology that enables both matte and gloss print finishes, a new ink, increased media and application versatility and a fully integrated double-sided printing feature. This new 64-inch production graphics printer builds on the breakthrough productivity, output quality, ink savings and automation of its predecessor, the Océ Colorado 1640. This new product delivers optimal performance for print service providers (PSPs), producing applications such as self-adhesive vinyl, canvas, wall-coverings and front- and back-lit graphics that require a high degree of flexibility for finishing, mounting and framing. The Océ Colorado 1650 incorporates Océ FLXfinish technology, a new approach to LED curing which allows the operator to choose between a matte or gloss output for each individual print to achieve different finishes – without the need to change inks or media. A growing number of end users prefer the look and reduced reflections of a matte print finish, especially for interior wall covering and art applications.Océ FLXfinish technology also enhances the performance of the Océ Colorado 1650 model with more porous media, including uncoated papers and soft signage materials such as polyester textiles and silicon- edged graphics media, by enabling each ink droplet to be ‘fixed’ immediately on jetting, preventing absorption by the substrate. In addition, the Colorado 1650 is supported by a new version of Canon UVgel ink. This ink is formulated for application flexibility by increasing the ‘stretchability’ of each cured ink droplet, resulting in output optimal for applications that require cutting, bending, creasing and folding without risk of cracking. Print service providers can further expand their media and application range with an integrated doublesided printing feature and support for both print-side-out and -in media, further boosting productivity and versatility.

Amidst Slowdown in Demand India HCP Market Posts 4.1% YoY Decline in 2019Q1: IDC India Despite a slowdown in demand, Inkjet printer shipments grew YoY by 5.6 percent led primarily by Epson. The growth was led by Ink tank printers which recorded YoY growth of 21.2 percent, the highest growth in the last 5 quarters.

I

ndia HCP market posted quarterly shipments of 0.85 million units in 2019Q1, with a decline of 4.1 percent on a year-onyear (YoY) basis, as per the latest IDC’s Asia/Pacific Quarterly Hardcopy Peripherals Tracker, CY2019Q1. The decline was primarily because of the slowdown in both consumer and commercial demand. Despite a slowdown in demand, Inkjet printer shipments grew YoY by 5.6 percent led primarily by Epson. The growth was led by Ink tank printers which recorded YoY growth of 21.2 percent, the highest growth in the last 5 quarters. While the overall laser printer market declined YoY by 11.9 percent, the copier segment grew by 19.4 percent YoY and recorded the highest shipment ever. The copier market grew on the back of strong demand from government and government’s continued tight monitoring of the refurbished copier market. “Weak consumer demand, observed in 2018Q4, continued well up to the middle of 2019Q1 as well and this largely affected the overall Inkjet market’s health. Demand from SMBs and SOHOs was also on the lower side due to the credit issues they continue to face with banks affecting demand for laser printers. Despite the scheduled government elections, the consumption from the Government remained steady, owing to it being the last quarter of the financial year. After the election dates were announced on March 10, 2019, with the Model Code of Conduct coming into effect, government demand decreased as multiple Government deals were put on hold,” says Bani Johri, Market Analyst, IPDS, IDC India.

Top 3 Brands HP Inc. (Excluding Samsung) maintained its leadership in the HCP market with a share of 37.7 percent while its shipment declined by 7.6 percent YoY. The decline was primarily led by the inkjet segment, which declined by 11.6 percent YoY, due to muted demand from the consumer market even though multiple end-user and channel schemes were active. In

30

the inkjet segment, HP retained its 2nd position with a share of 24.6 percent. On the Copier side, HP shipments grew by 15.7 percent quarter over quarter due to strong demand from the corporate and Government segment. In the Laser segment (excluding Copiers) HP maintained its leadership position, capturing more than 60 percent of the market share. Epson remained at 2nd position in the overall HCP market by clocking 13.1 percent YoY growth and capturing 31.4 percent of the unit market share. It also continued to hold its leadership position in the inkjet segment while increasing its unit market share to 56.1 percent, thus increasing by 11.6 percentage points. The growth came primarily on the back of its new models, especially L3110 and L3150, along with multiple lucrative distributor schemes. Mr. Nishant Bansal, Epson’s gains were mainly due Research Manager, PCD & IPDS, IDC India to SMBs are preferring ink tank over expensive laser printers as it remains the preferred choice in commercial segment Canon recorded year on year decline of 10.5 percent while maintaining its 3rd position in the HCP market and capturing 16.1 percent unit market share. The decline in Canon’s shipment was largely due to inventory correction exercise undertaken due to the excessive stockpile in previous quarters. In the copier segment, it continued to lead the market with 24.0 percent unit market share. The Government’s stricter regulations on the refurbished market coupled with increased demand from Government helped Canon in maintaining its dominance in the copier market. “Post 2019Q1, market conditions are expected to slightly improve due to summer holidays followed by back-to-school programs leading to improvement in consumer demand. Ink tank printers will continue to gain traction and partially make up for the decline in laser printer shipments as well as ink cartridge printers. Post elections, government demand is also expected to return to normal giving boost to laser copier market,” says Nishant Bansal, Research Manager, PCD & IPDS, when it comes to ink tank printers. Sree Vinayaka Systems Signs up as Canon Authorized Reseller (CAR) S

ree Vinayaka Systems, incepted in 2002, is a Trivandrum (Kerala) based provider of imaging products and accessories. At the heart of Trivandrum city, the company has its well-equipped, state-of-theart showroom-cum-refilling center and an office from where they carry out their operations. Led by P. Ramesh, CEO, the company deals in imaging consumables for the printers of leading brands like HP, Canon, Epson, Samsung and Brother, besides others. Sree Vinayaka Systems also does refilling for toner & inkjet cartridges in their in-house refilling center equipped with the best testing equipment and quality toner powders, inks and spares. Sree Vinayaka Systems has signed up as Canon Authorized Reseller (CAR) early this year (2019) for Canon printer machines (inkjet and laser) and Canon OEM consumables. Ramesh comments, “Just after 5 months of signing up as Canon Authorized Reseller (CAR), we are selling nearly 100 Canon printer machines a month (inkjet 60% and laser 40%). On the color inkjet side Epson, HP and Canon machines are selling well compared to only a few color laser machines, but black laser printer machines are selling well. GST is turning out to be very good for us. Our printer sales have increased a lot in the last 2 years after the launch of GST, because most of the companies, private or government, now demand the bill with GST number. The GST law is a good initiative from the government to bring in transparency and order into the industry.” Sree Vinayaka Systems has 50 well-connected dealers in Trivandrum and the surrounding areas. The company sells high quality inkjet & laser printers and cartridges for HP, Canon, Samsung and Brother branded machines (provides both OEM and compatibles cartridges). Sree Vinayaka Systems employs well-trained staff to handle their service and business operations. Ramesh adds, “As for compatible cartridges, we are dealing in JetTec, Aryan and Alphabet brands; and for compatible toners, we are using ProDot and JetTec brands. In case of inkjet and ribbon cartridges we are using ProDot brand. For copiers, we sell only toner powders and do not sell copier machines. On the refilling side, we refill nearly 500 toner cartridges and 150 ink cartridges a month. As I said, we do color refilling more on inkjet side and less on laser side. We also remanufacture a small number of about 50 laser cartridges a month. Remanufactured cartridges offer near-OEM quality and page yield at a lesser cost. However, nowadays compatibles are selling well and refilling is decreasing, so we want to concentrate more on

32

June 2019

Mr. P. Ramesh, CEO, Sree Vinayaka Systems selling compatibles. We sell only standard compatible cartridges from big brands which give higher output.” Sree Vinayaka Systems does remanufacturing and reconditioning of laser toner cartridges on a smaller scale, with training support from UniNet Imaging and Static Control. The other activities of Sree Vinayaka Systems include sale of HP cartridges, Epson inks, Brother inks and all leading brand original and compatible cartridges, Dot Matrix ribbons, sublimation inks, sublimation papers, glossy papers, power & data cables, antivirus software, mouse, keyboards, speakers, UPS and all types of toner cartridges spares. “Quality products and services are our main selling points. Then we maintain good and long-term relations will all our customers. We use efficient and advanced methods while refilling cartridges and focus more on quality of products and services. We want to expand our business operations, focus more on selling Canon printer machines and increase our sales and revenues.”

HP and Vijex Vyapaar Partner to Operate HP’s Showroom for A3 Copiers in New Delhi Vijex Vyaapar has been Authorized Premium Partner for HP’s A3 copier machines since Nov 2018 and in just a few months of association with HP, Vijex Vyaapar received a certificate of appreciation from HP.

V

ijex Vyapaar Pvt Ltd, based out of Delhi, has three decades of successful presence in the imaging market as a leading Importer and Distributor of imaging consumables catering to both consumer and industrial segments. The company through its partners has a wide presence pan India. Vijex Vyaapar has been Authorized Premium Partner for HP’s A3 copier machines since Nov 2018 and in just a few months of association with HP, Vijex Vyaapar received a certificate of appreciation from HP which stated, ‘We value your contribution, commitment and efforts for driving the A3 printer business and we look forward to your continued support.’ Navratan Baid, Director, Vijex Vyapaar Pvt Ltd, comments, “In the last six months, we observed the jobber market accepting HP’s A3 copiers well. There is intense competition in the A3 copier segment, but HP as a printer provider has very a strong brand name in the market, so penetrating into A3 segment is quite easy for HP. Though sales are down due to summer holidays, the demand is expected to pick up from July 2019 once the schools and colleges open. Next, if everything goes fine, by Aug 2019, HP will open their showroom for their A3 copiers in DaryaGanj (New Delhi) for the customers to have firsthand experience and feel of the machines, which will be jointly operated by Vijex Vyapaar Pvt Ltd and HP. On the negative side, due to 18% GST, the customers are feeling that copiers have become too costly, in general for all the brands. HP A3 copiers give quality output and our printing cost is lesser then the competition on the genuine consumables on industry standard parameters. However, we hope to sell more copiers starting from July 2019 and expect more business in the coming years.” Vijex Vyapaar Pvt Ltd also provides printer and copier toners in bulk (without brand) imported mainly from the reputed manufacturers in Japan, Korea and China. The USPs of Vijex Vyaapar are presenting good quality products and giving effective services (like giving them right market knowledge, detailed product information, ideas about the latest and forthcoming trends, after-sales-repairs, etc) to the

34

June 2019

Mr. Navratan Baid, Director, Vijex Vyapaar Pvt Ltd customers, in whichever segment they operate. They see their Authorized Premium Partnership for HP’s A3 copiers to be a good complement for their business. Navratan Baid adds, “We have pan-India customerbase with major portion of business coming from North India. In the recent months, growth of laser and copier toner sales, which cover 80% of our business, has slowed down. We hope, in the coming months the growth will pick up. Today all big companies and corporates want service-attached printer solutions, not just machines. So we are focusing more on attaching service with our product offerings.” Nitnui Technology, a sister company of Vijex Vyaapar, has taken a pioneering initiative to bring high-end 3D technologies at affordable costs to both consumers and enterprises and the company has launched 3D Printers with several models to cater to various segments. Navratan Baid says, “Our Nitnui Technology is a partner for Colido brand 3D Printing machines. In future, we see good scope for 3D printers, though at present only a few people know and use 3D technology. We want to bring the best 3D technology to the Indian customers. At present, even the Indian government wants 3D labs to be set up in every school to promote this new technology. It will talk a few more years for the customers to adopt 3D printing technology. Who hope, in the coming decade (2020-30), 3D printing will become a big segment and transform the production technology in a big way. My message to the partners is they should focus on providing high quality, latest technology, best service and give more clarity to the users about the machines and consumables they sell.”
