What is widely accepted regarding art, however, is the ability of Miranda Vatopoulou to impress the creator, as well as the audience. In her new series, she manages to capture emotions, recognizing the past and at the same time probing and seeking the future.

The art of Miranda Vatopoulou is characterized by the nuances of modern life. Pop culture scenes, emblematic characters, dynamic women and landmarks – either taken from hard-to-find books, or handcrafted by herself - emerge from within each other with an almost architectural precision. However, noteworthy is her ability to interlace modern aesthetics with the great masters. In her works, one can identify scenes from emblematic works of art, such as Michelangelo’s “The Creation of Adam”, establishing connections with the cosmos and the creation of man. A large part of her artistic creation stems from personal experiences and pursuits as well as the place of man within the world. Renaissance and Baroque scenes, in conjunction to modern references, constitute a multicolored mosaic of stories, within which one can wander, seek and ultimately form their own interpretation.

As the artist herself states, her artistic inspirations are the relationships she forms with other people, her own experiences, the past, the present and her dreams of the future. In order to describe her different forms and personalities, her ambitions, the truth and her dedication, she uses within her works well known individuals from the music industry, who have managed to transform their fields and who have become a great inspiration for the artist herself. David Bowie and Anna Vissi occupy a central place in her creations and are for her not just iconic musicians, but also exceptional personalities, pioneers in their field, who have undergone transformations, undertook risks and managed to merge music with fashion.

The iconic Greek singer, Anna Vissi, celebrates this year fifty years of active participation in the artistic scene. Miranda Vatopoulou’s new series of works, conclude with a work of art dedicated to the legendary Greek performer. In a time when everything is prone to be questioned, Anna Vissi represents exactly what Miranda stands for, admires and what she attempts to bring to prominence through her work: authenticity, dedication, talent and boldness. Just like ancient Greeks honored their patron Gods (something which is prevalent in her works), in the same way she tries to honor her personal idols. Employing mixed techniques and collage, she impresses the dynamic nature of the personality and the multiple incarnations of self.

Undoubtedly, the work of Miranda Vatopoulou reflects the modern way of life. Her artistic creation refers to the present, without omitting the past. It is the art of yesterday, of today and of tomorrow. It is the art of the ephemeral and of the perpetual. And all these, stem from her personal experiences - a confluence of memories, adversities and challenges. By maintaining the authenticity of her personal idiom, she invites us to become part of a story, to accept our past and to paint our future. Besides, that is what art is supposed to achieve and to offer - a way out during the darkest of times.

Το έργο της Μιράντας Βατοπούλου διαπνέεται από τα δεδομένα της μοντέρνας ζωής. Σκηνές της ποπ κουλτούρας, εμβληματικοί χαρακτήρες, δυναμικές γυναίκες, και μνημεία, άλλοτε βγαλμένα από δυσεύρετα βιβλία και άλλοτε χειροτεχνημένα από την ίδια, αναδύονται με σχεδόν αρχιτεκτονική ακρίβεια, το ένα μέσα από το άλλο. Αξιοσημείωτη, ωστόσο, είναι η δυνατότητά της να περιπλέκει τη σύγχρονη αισθητική με τους μεγάλους δασκάλους. Στα έργα της μπορεί κανείς να διακρίνει σκηνές από εμβληματικά έργα, όπως αυτό του Michelangelo «H Δημιουργία του Αδάμ», θέτοντας καίριες αναφορές στην κοσμική ύπαρξη και στη δημιουργία του ανθρώπου. Μεγάλο μέρος της καλλιτεχνικής της δημιουργίας πηγάζει από τις προσωπικές της αναζητήσεις για τον κόσμο και τη θέση του ανθρώπου σε αυτόν. Οι Αναγεννησιακές και μπαρόκ σκηνές σε συνδυασμό με τις μοντέρνες αναφορές συγκροτούν ένα πολύχρωμο μωσαϊκό ιστοριών, στο οποίο μπορεί κανείς να περιπλανηθεί, να αναζητήσει και να δημιουργήσει τη δικιά του ερμηνεία. Όπως αναφέρει και η καλλιτέχνης πηγή έμπνευσης της είναι οι σχέσεις που δημιουργεί με τους ανθρώπους, οι εμπειρίες της, το παρελθόν, το τώρα και τα όνειρά της για το μέλλον. Για να περιγράψει τις διαφορετικές μορφές και προσωπικότητες της, τις φιλοδοξίες της, την αλήθεια και την αφοσίωσή της, χρησιμοποιεί στα έργα της γνωστά πρόσωπα της μουσικής βιομηχανίας που έχουν καταφέρει να αλλάξουν τα δεδομένα και τα οποία έχουν αποτελέσει για την καλλιτέχνη μεγάλη έμπνευση. Ο David Bowie και η Άννα Βίσση πρωταγωνιστούν στις συνθέσεις της και αποτελούν για την ίδια, όχι μόνο μουσικά είδωλα, αλλά και σπουδαίες προσωπικότητες που πρωτοπόρησαν, μεταμορφώθηκαν, ανέλαβαν ρίσκα και κατάφεραν να παντρέψουν τη μουσική με τη μόδα. Η μοναδική Ελληνίδα τραγουδίστρια Άννα Βίσση συμπληρώνει φέτος 50 χρόνια ενεργής καριέρας στα καλλιτεχνικά δρώμενα. Στη νέα ενότητα έργων η Μιράντα Βατοπούλου ολοκληρώνει με ένα έργο – αφιέρωμα στη θρυλική τραγουδίστρια. Σε μια εποχή που όλα είναι αμφισβητήσιμα, η Άννα Βίσση εκπροσωπεί αυτό ακριβώς που η Μιράντα πρεσβεύει, θαυμάζει και προσπαθεί να αναδείξει μέσα από τη δουλειά της: την αυθεντικότητα, την προσήλωση, το ταλέντο και την τόλμη. Όπως ακριβώς οι Αρχαίοι Έλληνες τιμούσαν τους προσωπικούς τους Θεούς (μορφές που είναι ευδιάκριτες στα έργα της), με τον ίδιο τρόπο προσπαθεί να τιμήσει τα προσωπικά της είδωλα . Χρησιμοποιώντας μικτές τεχνικές και κολλάζ, αποτυπώνει τον δυναμισμό της προσωπικότητας και τις διαφορετικές ενσαρκώσεις του εαυτού.

Το έργο της Μιράντας Βατοπούλου αναμφίβολα αντικατοπτρίζει τον σύγχρονο τρόπο ζωής. Η καλλιτεχνική της δημιουργία αναφέρεται στο παρόν, χωρίς να παραλείπει το παρελθόν. Είναι η τέχνη του χθες, του σήμερα και του αύριο. Είναι η τέχνη του εφήμερου και του αέναου. Και όλα αυτά πηγάζουν μέσα από το προσωπικό της βίωμα, έναν συγκερασμό μνημών, δυσκολιών και προκλήσεων. Διατηρώντας την αυθεντικότητα του προσωπικού της ιδιώματος, μας καλεί να γίνουμε μέρος μιας ιστορίας, να αποδεχτούμε το παρελθόν μας και να ζωγραφίσουμε το μέλλον μας. Άλλωστε η τέχνη αυτό ακριβώς πρέπει να επιτυγχάνει, μια διέξοδο στις πιο σκοτεινές συνθήκες.

anothe r. To grow, learn and advance along the road. There are no mistakes in life, only lessons. A bright side in the darkest circumstances only if you have the courage to look for it. We all come from the same universal source. However the ones who do more than just exist, the ones who fan the flames of their human potential and truly savor the magical dance of life, they adopt a positive paradigm about their world and all that is in it. People are allowing negative thoughts and worry to rob them of their life force. We sometimes block our enormous potential of our minds to work its magic and deliver into our lives everything that we deserve. To live life to the fullest you must stand guard at the gate of your garden.

When you dedicate yourself to transforming your inner world and focus only on the good stuff your life will quickly shift from the ordinary to the realm of extraordinary only if you let it. I started to see my mind for what it truly is. Nature’s greatest gift.

To liberate the potential of your mind, body and soul, we must first expand our imagination. I’ve learned that things are always created twice. First in the workshop of our mind and then only then in reality. Blueprinting. Because anything that you create in your outer world begins as a simple blueprint in your inner world. What you focus on, that is what you attract. When we learn to take control of our thoughts and vividly imagine all that we desire from this worldly existence, dormant forces will awaken inside.

Dare to dream more than the sum of your current circumstances.

Expect the best. If you listen to your critics, the opinions of other people and your fear for failure you will never do anything great. And the dreams you hold in your heart will die a slow death. Ultimately life is all about choices, one’s destiny unfolds according to the choices one makes. Your ‘I can’ is more important than your IQ. All success comes from the thoughts you put in your head. And I’ve since discovered that success is all about running your own race, feeling comfortable in your own skin and living your life on your own terms. It’s a bumpy road but from struggle comes strength. Pain can be a wonderful teacher. The laws of nature ensure that when a door closes another opens. Without failure there can be no success and the harder the climb to your personal mountain, the more unforgettable and gorgeous the feeling and the view at the top.

Every event has its purpose and every set back its lessons.

Failure of every kind is essential to personal expansion. Never forget your past rather than embrace it. Success on the outside means nothing if you don’t have success within. How can you care for others if vou don’t care for yourself? How can you do good when you don’t feel good? I can’t love if I can’t love myself.

I am an artist in living. The work of art is myself. Investing in yourself is the best investment you will ever make. It will not only improve your life but also the life of those around you. Our mind is a fertile garden. It will do wonderful things only if you let it. It will attract all that you desire in life. The boundaries of life are nearly the creation of the self. Ordinary people aching to do the extraordinary. To realize our own unique form of greatness. Find what you truly love and have the courage to direct all of your energy towards doing it. When you are inspired by some great purpose all of your thoughts break their bonds.

Your mind transcends limitations, your consciousness expands in every direction and you find yourself in a new great and wonderful world. Take the road less traveled. Most people live within the confines of their comfort zone. The best thing you can do for you is have the courage to move beyond it. Our world is in a turmoil. Good people are losing their way. We must trust ourselves and create the kind of world we will be happy to live in. The purpose of life is a life of purpose. Lasting happiness comes from steadily working to accomplish your goals. The very fact that you have a desire or a dream means that you have the corresponding capacity to realize it. Great dreamers’ dreams are never fulfilled; they are always transcended. Real generosity towards the future is giving all to what is present. Reinvent your destiny. Go where you feel more alive. Everyone is a genius and everyones existence has a purpose only if you let yourself to be the real you. Be authentic and follow your dream. Only then you will unlock the magical potentials life holds. I believe that God resides inside every one of us in the form of light and love. Be kind, be giving and make the world a better place. Remember your ‘I can’ is more important than your IQ. spread love not hate. Love yourself. We are the same and all different. We all have our own personal path to follow. Have the courage and run your own race.

Αυτή είναι η ιστορία μου

Σε ένα σημείο της ζωής μου όλα ήταν σκοτεινά και νόμιζα ότι το φως δεν θα ξαναγυρίσει ποτέ. Η ζωή ήταν μια ευθεία γραμμή χωρίς γεύση. Ένιωθα ότι όλα ήταν μάταια, ότι η ψυχή μου ήταν μουδιασμένη και δεν υπήρχε καμία διέξοδος. Η πραγματικότητα είχε μετατραπεί σε κόλαση και εγώ προσπαθούσα να ξεφύγω από τα συναισθήματα και το παρελθόν μου. Δεν ήθελα να νιώσω τα συναισθήματά μου, δεν μπορούσα να αποδεχτώ το παρελθόν μου. Υποθέτω ότι αυτό είναι η κατάθλιψη. Στην αρχή με τρόμαξε… αλλά όταν ήρθε η κατάλληλη στιγμή (να θυμάσαι ο

χρόνος θεραπεύει τα πάντα), αποφάσισα να αλλάξω και ηλιαχτίδες φωτός ξεκίνησαν ξανά να αγγίζουν την ψυχή μου. Στην τελική όλα σχετίζονται με τις επιλογές μας. Είναι απίστευτο τι είδους παιχνίδια μπορεί να παίξει το μυαλό μας. Το πρόβλημα… Ποιο ήταν άραγε το πρόβλημα; Το πρόβλημα ήμουν εγώ και τα όρια που είχα θέσει στον εαυτό μου. Οι ετικέτες και η ταυτότητά μου. Ένιωθα ότι δεν ήμουν αρκετή, άξια του ταλέντου μου και των ονείρων μου. Ήμουν φοβισμένη. Και το πρόβλημα ήταν ο φόβος. Ο φόβος για ό,τι αγαπώ, ο φόβος για το ίδιο μου το φως, τρομοκρατήμενη από τη ζωή.

Όταν συνειδητοποίησα ότι περνάω κατάθλιψη είχα δύο επιλογές, και διάλεξα την πρώτη. Έλαβα δράση. Αλλά φυσικά δεν ήταν μια εύκολη επιλογή και δεν ήξερα τί σήμαινε αυτό. Ήμουν φοβισμένη, αλλά αποφασισμένη να αλλάξω.

Το ταξίδι δεν ήταν ομαλό και η απελευθέρωσή μου δεν επήλθε χωρίς κόστος. Ήθελα πολλές φορές να τα παρατήσω και ο φόβος παραλίγο να με παραλύσει. Βύθησα τα φτερά μου στα βάθη και σηκώθηκα ξανά και ξανά. Ο δρόμος ήταν γεμάτος κύματα στη μορφή δαιμόνων. Τώρα μπορώ να πω περίφανα ότι άξιζε η μεταμόρφωση, με άφησε μελανιασμένη αλλά όχι καταρρακωμένη, αγανακτισμένη όμως ανθεκτική ώστε να σηκώνομαι κάθε φορά και να προσπαθώ ξανά. Τις περισσότερες φορές δεν πίστευα στον ευατό μου αλλα δεν τα παράτησα ποτέ. Ποτέ δεν θα αντάλλαζα το μονοπάτι μου για ένα πιο εύκολο. Ένιωσα πόνο και απόγνωση αλλά με έκανε δυνατότερη.

Μου πρόσφερε ενσυναίσθηση, θάρρος και αγάπη για τον εαυτό μου και τους γύρω μου. Μου πρόσφερε, επίσης, αντίληψη για τον κόσμο και του άλλους, που μόνος κάποιος που έχει υπόφερει μπορεί να καταλάβει.

Δοκίμασα τον εαυτό μου, όμως επέστρεψα νικήτρια. Δοκιμάστηκε η

αγάπη μου όμως έμαθα να αγαπώ . Έπρεπε να αλλάξω τις συνδέσεις

και να δημιουργήσω νέους δεσμούς. Για παράδειγμα ο φόβος… είναι μια ιστορία, την οποία δημιουργούμε στο μυαλό μας. Δεν μπορούσα να ζωγραφίσω, δεν μπορούσα να δημιουργήσω και ένιωθα πως είχε έρθει το τέλος του κόσμου και ότι όλες οι χαρούμενες στιγμές ανήκαν στο παρελθόν. Πάλεψα για τα όνειρά μου και το πάθος μου. Ποτέ δεν είπα ότι τελικά μπορεί να μην είμαι καλλιτέχνης. Ήμουν εκεί καθημερινά με ένα στυλό και ένα λευκό χαρτί προσπαθόντας σκληρά να αντισταθώ στο ανίκανο να κουνηθεί χέρι μου. Υπήρξα συνεπής στον στόχο μου και ο χρόνος επούλωσε τις πληγές μου. Αγκάλιασα το παρελθόν μου και η αγάπη άνθισε στην καρδιά μου. Η τέχνη είναι για μένα η απόλυτη ελευθερία και δεν μπορώ να ζήσω χωρίς αυτήν. Δεν μπορώ να επιβιώσω χωρίς να εκφράζω την εσωτερική μου κατάσταση και τη δυνατότητά

μου να κατανοώ τον κόσμο μέσω των χρωμάτων και των μορφών. Όπως ακριβώς εσύ δεν μπορείς να ζήσεις χωρίς νερό. Καθώς είμαι απελευθερωμένη από τους φόβους μου, η αποστολή μου είναι να σε εμπνεύσω να ξεκινήσεις το δικό σου ταξίδι προς την απελευθέρωση, γιατί ξέρω ότι στο τέλος του τούνελ υπάρχει φως!

Δόξα τω Θεώ η οικογένειά μου βρίσκεται εκεί για εμένα. Πιστεύουν σε

εμένα και μου δίνουν αγάπη και ελπίδα άνευ ορίων. Η αγάπη μπορεί να κάνει τον κόσμο ένα καλύτερο αύριο. Η αγάπη είναι ελπίδα. Η αγάπη είναι αγάπη. Βρήκα τον χαμένο μου ήλιο, αλλά το ταξίδι ακόμα συνεχίζεται. Πίστεψα σε εμένα, όπως πιστεύω

This is my story

At some point it was very dark and I thought that light was never going to come back. Life was like a straight line without taste. Felt like everything was vain, like my soul was numb and there was no way out. Reality was hell for me and I was always trying to escape from my feelings and my past. Didn’t want to feel my feelings, couldn’t embrace my past. Hey, that what depression is I guess. Freaked me out at first... but when it was time ( remember time is a healer) I decided to change and rays of sunshine started to reach my soul again. In the end it’s all about choices. It’s amazing what games our minds can play.

The problem... What was the problem; It was Me and the limitations I had imposed on myself. My tags and my identity. I wasn’t feeling like I was enough, worthy of my talent and my dreams. I was scared. The problem was fear. Fear for what I loved, fear for my own light, terrified of life.

When I realized I was depressed I had two choices, and I chose the first. I took action. But of course it wasn’t an easy choice and i didn’t know what that meant. Scared, but determined to change.

The journey wasn’t a linear one and my liberation didn’t come for free. Felt like giving up many times and fear almost paralyzed me. I sank my wings into the depths and I rose again and again. The road was full of waves in the form of demons.

Now i can say proudly that the transformation was worth it, left me bruised but not broken, exasperated yet resilient to get up every time and try again. Most of the time I didn’t believe in myself but I never gave up. I would never exchange my path for an easier one. I felt pain and despair but it made me stronger. It gave me empathy, courage and love for myself and those around me. It also gave me perspective about the world and for others that only he who has suffered can understand. Challenged myself but I came back a winner. Challenged my love but I came back as a lover. I had to change the connections and create new bonds. For example fear... is a story we create in our minds. I couldn’t draw, I couldn’t create and it felt like it was the end of the world and that all the happy moments were in the past. I fought for my dreams and my passion. I never said maybe I am not an artist after all. I was there everyday with a pen and a blank paper trying hard to resist my incapable of moving hand.

Consistent to my goal, time healed my wounds. I embraced my past and love flourished in my heart. Art is my ultimate liberation and I can’t live without it. I can’t survive without expressing my internal state of being and understanding of the world into colors and forms. Just like you can’t survive without water. As I am liberated from my own fears, my mission is to inspire you to begin your journey towards your liberation because there is light at the end of the tunnel!

Thank god my family was there, and believed in me and gave me unconditional love and hope. Love can change the world and make it a better place. Love is hope. Love is love. I found my lost sun but the journey continues. I believe in me as I believe in you. Let’s make the world a better place together.

Μιράντα Βατοπούλου

Γεννήθηκε στην Αθήνα το 2001. Από πολύ νεαρή ηλικία την

κέρδισε η ζωγραφική ως δημιουργική διέξοδος, και το όνειρό

της ήταν να γίνει καλλιτέχνης. Περνώντας τα χρόνια, το όνειρο αυτό άρχισε να ξεθωριάζει μέχρι που λησμονήθηκε.

Ώσπου βρέθηκε σε ένα κρίσιμο σταυροδρόμι στην ακαδημαϊκή και καλλιτεχνική της πορεία, όταν ακολούθησε το πρόγραμμα σπουδών για το Διεθνές Απολυτήριο (IB) και υποσυνείδητα επέλεξε τα Εικαστικά ως μάθημα υψηλού επιπέδου.

Πάντοτε είχε πολύ καλές ικανότητες επικοινωνίας και πάθος για καθετί καινούργιο και δημιουργικό. Ως πριν από τέσσερα χρόνια όμως δεν είχε βρει δημιουργική διέξοδο και τρόπο να εκμεταλλευτεί αυτές τις ικανότητες. Το μάθημα των Εικαστικών ήρθε να το αλλάξει αυτό, καθώς της επέτρεψε να αναπτύξει στον νου της έννοιες που ήταν ως τότε κρυμμένες στο υποσυνείδητό της και της έδωσε τη δυνατότητα να διερευνήσει τις κρυφές φαντασιώσεις του προσωπικού της κόσμου. Η εξερεύνηση του νου είναι ο μοναδικός τρόπος να ζούμε σε έναν καινούργιο κόσμο κάθε μέρα, και η ικανότητα να δίνει μορφή σε αυτές τις φαντασιώσεις μέσω των εικαστικών τεχνών την ενέπνευσε να εστιάσει στη δουλειά της. Αυτό που της αρέσει περισσότερο στη δημιουργική διαδικασία είναι ότι έχει σε μεγάλο βαθμό να κάνει με την ανάληψη ρίσκου, με το να ωθούμε τον εαυτό μας συνεχώς ώστε να αναπτύσσουμε τις ιδέες μας και τελικά να επιλέγουμε το μονοπάτι που θέλουμε να ακολουθήσουμε.

Τον Ιανουάριο του 2023 πραγματοποίησε την πρώτη της ατομική έκθεση με τίτλο “Finding your lost sun” στο Κέντρο Τεχνών Δήμου Αθηναίων.

She was born in Athens in 2001. From a very young age, she was drawn to painting as a form of escapism, and her dream was to become an artist. Time passed, and this dream started to become blurry until it was forgotten. Until she came across one of the most defining paths of her academic and artistic career: following the IB curriculum and subconsciously choosing Visual Arts as a HigherLevel subject.

She has always had very good communication skills and a passion for all things new and creative. Yet until four years ago, she had not found a productive outlet and a way to put these skills to good use.

The Visual Arts course changed this, as it enabled her to develop the concepts in her mind that were almost hidden in her subconscious and allowed her to explore the hidden fantasies of her own world. Exploring one’s mind is the only way to live in a new world each day, and being able to visualise these fantasies gave her motivation and focus in her work. What she enjoys most about the process of making art is that it is all about risk-taking, challenging oneself to continuously develop one’s ideas and eventually choose the pathway one wants to follow.

In January, 2023, she made her first solo exhibition at the Arts Center Municipality of Athens, entitled “Finding your lost sun”.
