Festivals & Concerts Lincoln Park Music Festival July 25-28 Another iconic summer event held every summer in Lincoln Park in downtown Newark. The Festival includes a wide range of musical forms including Jazz, Gospel, House and Hip Hop and sounds from the African Diaspora; Youth performance showcase, green vendors, arts and craft vendors; local restaurants, organic farmers markets produce, and a health and wellness pavilion. For youth the Festival will offer games, storytelling, golf clinics, skateboard clinics and a host of family oriented activities. FRIDAY: Gospel; SATURDAY: House; SUNDAY: Hip Hop

Portuguese Festival: June 8-9 Taking place near Peter Francisco Park in the Ironbound (near Penn Station). Sunday at 3pm is a parade along Ferry Street with floats and performers.

House Music Festival: June 22 Now in its third year at Weequahic Park from 12-8pm.

Festival of Art & Music: August 10 Art exhibits, demonstrations, music, food, and fun for all. Elwood Park (corner of Summer Ave, North Ward) from 12-7pm.

All that Fado: August 17 Portuguese Music and performances. Independence Park (corner of Van Buren & Adams St. and Oliver & Walnut St., East Ward) from 7-9pm.

Essex County Parks come alive with music during the summer as they visit different parks. All concerts begin at 7pm (unless noted)

Enjoy a fun and affordable riverfront boat tour - 7 miles of Newark’s riverfront. There are two tours on each date. Tickets must be purchased in advance; $5 for Newark residents, $15 for others. MOVIES NBFF Youth Cinema

The NBFF Youth Cinema will be held on Mondays at The Newark Public Library at 10:30 am and at the Newark Museum on Wednesdays at 1 pm unless otherwise noted. July 17th at CitiPlex12 at 10am.

The Newark Black Film Festival (NBFF) kicks off June 19th at the Newark Museum. Screenings start at 7pm and are free, but seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. They will take place at the Museum unless otherwise noted.
