This is an editorial concept comprising a small 40-page book that retraces the fundamental stages in the evolution of the combat aircraft, plus a 20-sheet foldout book that brings together the 40 most representative models. On every page, the text, accompanied by accurate 3D renderings and detailed technical information, will lead the reader through time, on a fascinating journey amidst curiosities, anecdotes and stories. The aircraft chosen are those that had the greatest impact on the collective consciousness and the most famous, either because of their large production numbers and distribution, or because they embodied significant technological innovations, or because, during the course of the main conflicts of the modern era, they made history. There are four aircraft dating back to the years of World War I, 20 that played a central role during the events of World War II and finally, 16 that have become famous in the modern aviation age from the 1950s to the present day. Marco De Fabianis Manferto, industrial designer, earned his Masters Degree in Product Design at the Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) specializing in 3D modeling at the Politecnico di Milano. For White Star Publishers he created the renderings of the books Ferrari (2014) and Harley-Davidson, the Legendary Models (2015). Riccardo Niccoli, a journalist, writer, photographer, and one of Italy’s best-known aeronautical historians, has written on the subject in specialized magazines since 1982. A graduate in Political Science, he writes for many publishers in Europe and the United States, and is the author of various books on aeronautical subjects.

Anna Levin is a writer and editor with a special interest in people’s connections with the natural world, and the interface where words and pictures meet. A former Section Editor with BBC Wildlife Magazine, she has been freelance for over ten years, specialising in wildlife and natural history journalism for magazines, newspapers and environmental organisations, including 8 years as Contributing Editor with the magazine of the Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh. In recent years she has been working in collaboration with renowned wildlife photographer Laurie Campbell, and they published the book Otters Return to the River (2014). Other publications include guides to the marine mammals of the Hebrides, the wildlife of Mull and official guidebooks for the Scottish Seabird Centre and the gardens of the Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh (RBGE). She was Editor of the Wildlife Photographer of the Year Portfolios 11 and 13 and coedited The Living Collection, the story of RBGE.

d Frumento integrale spezzettato, è un alimento molto antico e possiamo trovarlo in commercio sia a crudo che cotto. In quest’ultimo caso i chicchi vengono cotti a vapore e sminuzzati. In entrambe i casi non è difficile prepararlo in casa partendo dai semi. Il bulgur ha le stesse caratteristiche del frumento integrale e cioè: molti carboidrati, una buona percentuale di proteine (circa il 13%) e fibra utile al processo digestivo. Ferro, zinco, calcio potassio e fosforo sono i minerali di cui è ricco. La niacina, chiamata anche vitamina B3 o PP, utile per la protezione delle mucose, e l’acido folico o vitamina B9, sono ben presenti nel cereale.

I chicchi triangolari del grano saraceno sono molto ricchi di amidi e proteine e contengono lisina e triptofano, amminoacidi essenziali alla nostra dieta. Sembra che sia in grado di controllare i livelli dello zucchero nel sangue e il colesterolo “cattivo”. Non contiene glutine, ed è per questo che è indicato in caso di celiachia. Mangiato regolarmente in chicchi o farine (viene utilizzato nella preparazionedei pizzoccheri) è un utile alleato per il benessere. Perfetto in chicchi per minestre o insalate, in farina per la preparazione di crepe e pani, ha un sapore fresco e gradevole.

Mondate e lavate i mirtilli e le more e metteteli nel vaso del frullatore. Spremete il limone, filtrate il succo e versatene la metà sui frutti.

Frullate a media potenza, il tempo necessario per avere una purea liscia, interrotta soltanto dai semi dei frutti di bosco. Versate il composto in un vaso tappabile o direttamente nei bicchieri di servizio, riempiendoli a metà.

Pelate ed eliminate i semi alla papaya. Tagliatela a pezzetti e metteteli nel vaso del frullatore. Frullate fino ad avere una purea liscia e ricoprite quella di mirtilli e more.

Servite subito o tenete tappato il vaso in frigo fino al momento di servire.

Preparazione 10 minuti

Radice commestibile che varia come colore dal bianco, giallo, arancio, rosso, viola, è un ortaggio composto per oltre il 90% di acqua e le sostanze che la caratterizzano si trovano nella parte esterna. La carota non va pelata, ma va ben lavata e soltanto spazzolata prima dell’uso. La radice è rimineralizzante, regolarizza la funzione intestinale, depura l’organismo, è antianemica, aumenta il numero di globuli rossi. Si trova in commercio per la maggior parte dell’anno ed è un ortaggio base per l’alimentazione dei bambini. Contiene: ferro, calcio, sodio, potassio, fosforo, alcuni dei minerali presenti e vitamina A in abbondanza.

Pelate la patata, lavatela e tagliatela a cubetti piccoli. Pelate la cipolla e affettatela finemente. Mettete gli ortaggi insieme a bollire in 4 dl di acqua e fate cuocere per 10 minuti, poi controllate che siano ben cotti, a quel punto togliete dal fuoco, aggiungete le alghe e lasciate raffreddare per 5 minuti.

Tagliate il tofu, fatelo a cubetti piccoli e quando il brodo è a circa 60 gradi (munitevi di un termometro da cucina, molto utile per tantissime preparazioni!) versate nelle ciotole, stemperate il miso, aggiungete il tofu.

Zuppa leggera e molto utile per la flora intestinale, il miso non va mai cotto, bollito e sciolto in brodo troppo caldo pena l’azzeramento della sua preziosa carica probiotica.

Le patate appartengono alla famiglia delle solanacee come pomodori, peperoni e melanzane, possono essere bianche e dolci (chiamata anche batata), gialle e sapide, viola, rosse e sono tuttora un tubero base dell’alimentazione di molte popolazioni. Sono digeribili, nutrienti, ricche di amidi, sono un ottimo sostituto dei cereali poiché a parità di peso, meno caloriche. Stimolano da digestione e regolano le funzioni intestinali. Manuela Adreani after taking a diploma specializing in illustration, she worked as a graphic artist and then progressed to the world of animation. After winning a scholarship for a master course in animation at Turin’s IED (European Institute of Design), she worked for the Lastrego e Testa studio on TV series produced and broadcast by Italy’s RAI television: “Le avventure di Aladino” (Aladdin), “Amita della Giungla” (Amita from the Jungle) and also on “La Creazione” (The Creation), based on the book by Carlo Fruttero. In 2011 she embarked on a career as a freelance illustrator, working with Benchmark and Scholastic India. She was one of the winners of the illustration contest organized for the 130th anniversary of the creation of Pinocchio. She illustrated the volumes Pinocchio, Alice in Wonderland (2013), Snow White, The Wizard of Oz (2014), The Little Prince, The Snow Queen (2015) for White Star Kids.

The Frog Prince Once upon a time there was a princess who used to play with her golden ball near the pond in the palace gardens. One day, she threw it particularly hard, and the precious ball flew into the water and promptly sank. The princess was very angry. She stamped her feet and shook her fists in a rather un-royal way. She was just about to wade into the pond in search of her ball, when she heard a voice saying, “I can help you if you want!” Turning round, the princess saw a frog sitting on a lily pad. “Here is your ball. Laughing, the princess told her father what had happened in the garden that morning, but the king made her keep her promise. The girl was forced to spend the whole evening with her unexpected companion, who turned out to be very amusing for a frog. He made her laugh out loud with his stories, he listened to her secrets and her dreams without teasing her and shared her dinner until the princess stopped feeling at all squeamish. Pinocchio Once upon a time there was a carpenter called Geppetto who wanted a son very much. He decided to make a special puppet, but he was astonished when he saw that it could move and talk on its own. But Pinocchio, for that was his name, turned out to be a rascal, and more than anything he hated going to school. Geppetto scraped together enough money to buy Pinocchio’s school books, but the puppet sold them for the price of a ticket to see the awesome Fire Eater’s puppet show. Fire Eater was an unfriendly man, but he had a good heart and he gave Pinocchio five gold coins. When he left the puppet theater, Pinocchio met the Cat and the Fox, who tricked him into burying his coins so that a tree would grow and produce hundreds. The two tricksters were just waiting for an opportunity to rob him, and just after nightfall, they chased him into the woods disguised as robbers and hung him from a tree. At last, he was saved by the Blue Fairy, who promised that if he was good she would to turn him into a boy. Pinocchio, however, was convinced by his friend Lampwick to go with him to Toyland, a place where children spend the day playing and eating lollipops, without ever having to study. But they were soon turned into donkeys, and sold at the market. Pinocchio was bought by a circus owner, who did not hesitate to throw him into the sea when Pinocchio was no longer of any use. Now Pinocchio turned back into a puppet, but a short time later was swallowed by a whale. This was a lucky thing, because inside his belly the puppet found Geppetto, who had gone to sea in search of him. hard all day to buy his medicine. The Blue Fairy, who was very fond of the puppet and had never ceased to watch over him, decided to reward his love and his goodness. And so it was that one day Pinocchio woke up, looked in the mirror and found that he had finally become a real child. Once upon a time there was a carpenter called Geppetto who wanted a son very much. He decided to make a special puppet, but he was astonished when he saw that it could move and talk on its own. But Pinocchio, for that was his name, turned out to be a rascal, and more than anything he hated going to school. Geppetto scraped together enough money to buy Pinocchio’s school books, but the puppet sold them for the price of a ticket to see the awesome Fire Eater’s puppet show. Fire Eater was an unfriendly man, but he had a good heart and he gave Pinocchio five gold coins. When he left the puppet theater, Pinocchio met the Cat and the Fox, who tricked him into burying his coins so that a tree would grow and produce hundreds. The two tricksters were just waiting for an opportunity to rob him, and just after nightfall, they chased him into the woods disguised as robbers and hung him from a tree. At last, he was saved by the Blue Fairy, who promised that if he was good she would to turn him into a boy. Pinocchio, however, was convinced by his friend Lampwick to go with him to Toyland, a place where children spend the day playing and eating lollipops, without ever having to study. But they were soon turned into donkeys, and sold at the market. Pinocchio was bought by a circus owner, who did not hesitate to throw him into the sea when Pinocchio was no longer of any use.
