Halla North News December 2023
Message from the BM December 2023
It has been a busy half term with university deadlines, Oxbridge and medical interviews and, of course, preparation for the upcoming mocks after Christmas. We have also had the Halla Christmas party and a continuation of the outduction program. The upcoming break is the perfect time to recharge batteries, spend time with family and friends and get prepared for the New Year. Whilst it is important to maintain study habits and revise for exams, it is also beneficial to take a break and refresh the body and mind. Wellbeing is a core focus in Halla North and taking time away from the stresses and strains of the IB diploma is equally as important and study. I would like to wish you all a very happy Christmas and prosperous New Year. Have a wonderful time as a family and enjoy the break together.

Student Events Y12 ʻReady, Steady Cookʼ Outduction
Halla Christmas Party
As part of the ʻoutductionʼ program, Y12 students were given a set of ingredients and tasked with coming up with a meal fit for a king (or at least a university student). The results were excellent and all teams worked collaboratively to produce dishes of a high quality.
Every Christmas, the Halla committee organises a Christmas party for Y12 students to enjoy. This yearʼs event was at ʻTropical Hideawayʼ, close to Sanbangsan. The feedback for the event was good and the students had a great time making memories and sharing some festive moments. Well done to the Halla committee for organising the event.
Decoration Time Some Y13 boys helped my daughters and I put up the Christmas decorations.
Meet The Grads Ewan Thompson Ewan joined Halla North as a Grad in 2022 and has remained with us this academic year. He brings a wealth of experience and, as a Maths specialist, has assisted the boys of Halla North with their IB coursework and IAs. He is currently pursuing the iQTS PGCE with Warwick University to become a qualified teacher Ewan is originally from Ipswich, UK and previously worked in finance in London before joining NLCS Jeju. He supports Manchester United, but we don’t hold that against him. “I thoroughly enjoyed my time at NLCS Jeju last year. Being able to work with passionate and determined students inspired me to return for another year and train for my teaching qualification.” We are delighted to have Ewan continue his role within the Halla team and the students are fortunate to have such a dedicated and caring Grad.
