English Language We are a British school and English is our formal and informal language. All students are required to speak English during the school day, whilst taking part in co-curricular activities and in the boarding houses. With the exception of first language, all lessons are taught in English. Our students are able to immerse themselves in the English language and any initial language issues rapidly evaporate. The school environment is inclusive to all nationalities and we currently have students from 15 different countries. Our teachers are primarly from the UK and also from the United States, Australia, South Africa and further afield. Curriculum We follow two of the most globally robust academic examination programmes available worldwide. Boarding Boarding is at the heart of our school and we encourage our boarders to feel that they are in a home from home when they enter our care. We welcome boarders from Junior School through to Year 13. All our students receive academic and pastoral support within an established house system. The houses are each run by Housemasters and -mistresses who are ably supported by a team including Assistants, Matrons, Tutors and Gap and Grad Students. We believe that boarding is the key to academic success and personal development. Our students gain independence and make friendships for life. As our boarders go out into the world as successful young adults, we are confident they are prepared for all that life will offer them. Beyond the classroom There are over 150 extra curricular activities available to students after school and at weekends. There is a wide variety to enjoy and experience, including sport, music, drama, art and service. Most Saturday mornings students take part in Bryant - a programme of events with the emphasis on choice and challenge. The programme includes team and individual sports and activities including horse riding, rock climbing, kayaking, cheerleading, fencing, and much more! We also encourage all children to join our societies. These help them to think and act more broadly and to develop passions for life. They are a significant addition to the curriculum and include: English Literature, Debating, Latin, Linguistics, History, Environmental Studies, Student Welfare, Student Council, Photography and Dance.
