Induction Day
The Student Council participated in the New Student Induction sessions at the start of the year to welcome new students to our school. Tours were conducted to introduce the new students to the NLCS campus, showing students the wide variety of facilities, such as where the different departments are, the library, and the cafeteria. These sessions aim to make new students feel more comfortable on their first day of school. It also helps students adapt to the new school as they are introduced to the various aspects of NLCS Jeju, including the House systems, and different Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs and Bryants). The New Student Induction days helped foster a welcoming and open place for the new students to make a positive start in NLCS.
New Student Lunches
The Student Council recently organised two new student lunches, specifically for Year 7 and Year 8 students. These events were led by the enthusiastic Year 7 and Year 8 Student Council representatives, with support from our Student Council chair, Angela, who helped coordinate and oversee the gatherings. The lunches served as an excellent opportunity for new students to connect with their peers in a friendly and relaxed setting. They were encouraged to share their experiences, ask questions, and learn more about school life and the role of the Student Council.
Beyond fostering connections among the students, the events also allowed the council representatives to introduce themselves and outline how they are there to support the student body. These lunches were designed to make new students feel valued, included, and supported as they transition into their new environment, helping to lay the foundation for strong bonds and a positive start to their journey at our school.
Current Campaigns
~ WALK TO SCHOOL CAMPAIGN ~
There are currently over 170 cars entering the campus every morning.
If you live within 20 minutes walking-distance, we encourage walking to school. Enjoy the fresh air, look at the plants, flowers and little animals. It’ll give you a boost for the day.
You can also car share or walk with a friend to school to make the experience all the more enjoyable!
Let’s try reduce our unnecessary carbon-emission and work towards a more eco-friendly school body!
Current Campaigns
~ UNIFORM POLICIES ~
Collaborating with the Youth Activists Society, the Student Council reviewed and provided feedback on the current uniform policy. Overall, responses regarding both the school uniform and house kit were positive. However, we identified a need for greater student voice in future policies, particularly as many students prioritise physical comfort. Following a discussion within the student council, Ryan and Naeun from the Youth Activists Society presented these findings to Mr. Waterman for potential refinements to the uniform policy in the future.
& Facilities
Quadra Meeting
The Food and Facilities Committee recently acted as the student representatives for the tri-annual meeting between Quadra and PRG/School Staff. In the meeting, the Committee members (Elliott, Alex) reported the results from the Food Surveys held beforehand and gave their insights on meeting agendas and potential future solutions as proponents of student voice. From this meeting, the Committee initiated a project to open up the canteen glass room for reservation for student meetings, and helped further connections for dialogue between the Council and the Senior Team.
Current Plans
Aside from the food surveys and meeting with Quadra, the Food & Facilities Committee is working on is working with Mr Waterman to renovate various facilities around the school.
Induction Video
Our Wellbeing Committee has continued working on the New Student Induction video that aims to make sure new students feel more comfortable in our school community.
Secret Santa
Last week we ran the Secret Santa event jointly with SWAG (Student Welfare Awareness Group), and provided students with an opportunity to express their gratitude and love to people who they are close with by sending them a card and a sweet. It was a huge success, now we have more than 50 letters! They were delivered to the lucky recipients during Wednesday tutor time. We hope you enjoyed the event!

Firstly, thank you to all those that have put very valid suggestions on our board! We have been working our way through them, working on solutions to them and generating replies to share with you! One half of our board has various prompts that we change at least once a half term, and the other half now has replies to some of the most common suggestions. If you want to contact us anonymously, we now have a suggestion box that we will check every Monday along with the board.
