All Hands on Deck! By R. Milliken, Principal Another successful opening of the school year has taken place here at NMB. This was accomplished by a team effort from the faculty and staff and not to mention a few students who volunteered this summer. Our building is clean, our teachers are rested and ready to challenge students with a curriculum that will expand their horizons and push them to new heights. These are some lofty goals that will not be reached unless everyone (faculty, staff, students and parents) contributes. Our theme this year is “All Hands On Deck.” This means everyone needs to contribute their share so that our students can reach their potential. The teachers are ready, so I am asking the students to do their part. Most of that is not complicated. It starts with attendance and consistency. We need students here and on time every day. Without this commitment we cannot share the knowledge and information that you will need to be successful. Students, I am asking you to get involved at NMB. Football, Cross Country and Volley Ball have already started. Clubs are already meeting and looking for new members. Students who are involved in Athletics, Activities, Clubs or any extracurricular activities not only build a sense of Charger Pride, but they perform better academically and socially. So don’t wait for someone else to build Charger Pride, get involved and
This is my 18th year working in the MDCPS school system. I started off as an elementary school teacher, moved to middle school, and have slowly made my way up to high school. I am originally from New Jersey. Go Yankees! I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Miami. I received my Masters of Science in Educational Leadership and Supervision from the University of Phoenix. I am very excited to be here at NMB and I can’t wait to share in the success that I know the school will achieve this year and all the following ones to come. My philosophy for everything in life is, “If you are persistent, you will get it. If you are consistent you will keep it.” Trust me, you will see this posted everywhere soon. I spread my love! Mr. John Roe, Math Teacher, Assistant Athletic DIrector, and coach. This is the begining of my 27th year of teaching. I believe in learn by doing. It is difficult to understand geometry without actually drawing the figures and doing the constructions. My goal at NMB is to help my students learn as much as possible. Ms. Malfry Taylor, Reading Instructor (Retakers) I have been teaching for 10 years My teaching philosophy is to challenge students and watch students grow to their full potential. My goal at NMB is to strive each day to become a more proficient and enthusiastic team player of the Charger Family.
Jason Garcia, Security Guard This is my first year in the school system and my goal as a security guard at NMB is to keep all students safe

Racing Closely for a Dynamic Position by Dayjah Thezan On November 8, 2016, a turn will be made in America’s history in a race-involving running in a different sense. Through the votes of American citizens throughout the nation, there will be
Party, and Donald Trump of the Republican Party. America is fixated greatly on this election, as it should. Soon to be former President of the United States, Barack Obama is at the end of the road of his last term in the Oval Office. Therefore, a new President must be elected for four or maybe even eight years. Many have split into the side of either Democrat or Republican and few for the third parties in the election. The close presidential race between Democrat, Hillary Clinton and Republican, Donald Trump especially has America on its toes to see who is going to be the next Commander and Chief. Therefore, it is imperative that voters are educated on the platforms of each party, as well as the intentions of the running candidates.
According to the Pew Research Center, an unbiased research institute that provides the public information that affects the United States and the World, there will be more Millennial and Generation X voters than Baby Boomers this election unlike prior elections. This is due to people becoming old enough to vote and Presidential Candidates because of many becoming naturalized. Young Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton, Jill Stein, voters either distrust the political system, they are Gary Johnson (top left to bottom right) ignorant, or they feel as if those running for any office wouldn’t service their interests. Meaning, change within the nation. The race between either Donald or Hillary could take the position Hillary Clinton of the Democratic Party, Jill Stein of of President. the Green Party, Gary Johnson of the Libertarian
Heroic Entertainment is Coming Our Way A Very Strange Movie is on its Way! by Davon Hazell
Yes, it’s Marvel’s next movie, Doctor Strange, which will head into the more magical side of the Marvel Universe. Main character, Dr. Stephen Strange, was a very successful neural surgeon, but after a car accident the nerves in his hands were damaged, making him unable to control them properly. In the search of a cure he travels the world and finds the Ancient One, who then teaches him magic. This movie has the very talented Benedict Cumberbatch playing Stephen Strange. Dr.Strange is going to help explain many questions that aren’t clear in the Marvel cinematic universe, both in movies and Netflix series. This is going to be Marvel Studios’ most ambitious movie yet; trying to capture all of the effects of magic and bending the world is going to be a challenge.
