By Erika Sermiot On Friday, November 15th, there was a trip to Johnson and Wales University. This event focused on cyber threats, business and how to make money. The purpose was to educate teenagers while they’re young so they would have an idea of what to do when it is their turn in life to find jobs and pick up more responsibility. Anthony Demato from Toyota of North Miami and Bernardo provided Community and student volunteers, unloading the food items 100 turkeys. Bernardo Rieber from photo by Jason Leblanc Medical District Developments donated $1000 to the cause. Additionally, boxes of other food such as corn, peas, and some ramen were donated, as well. Our very own students at NMB made a very big difference! The JROTC, baseball team, football team, student council, and some more of our fellow students came to help with unloading and distributing the turkeys. Families who might have otherwise missed out on the Thanksgiving turkey tradition were identified and selected by NMB counselors. These families were then given a yellow or orange ticket to identify them when they came to pick up their turkeys. The families’ happy, joyful faces were all the reward needed for those who worked the event. Seeing everyone working together and helping someone else out was an amazing treat.
