CLEAR FINES & FEES with Amnesty Late Fee Forgiveness Program

2–17 Fines and fees are often a barrier to members of the community who need access to essential library services, which is why the Library is proud to participate in the City's Amnesty Late Fee Forgiveness Program by offering a one-time fine and fee waiver for any outstanding fines and fees up to $100.

An elderly woman who is homebound heard about the Amnesty Late Fee Forgiveness program but wasn't sure if she had fines because she has not been able to come into a library for a while. She went to nolalibrary.org to learn more about the program; and, while she was on the website, she found out about the Books-by-Mail service (see page 9). She cleared her Library account, applied for the Books-byMail service, and is now using the Library again for the first time in many years.

SUMMER FUN PRIZES & RAFFLES Registration Prize: Everyone who signs up for SUMMER FUN will earn a registration prize. Reading Challenge: Children and teens can earn prizes and raffle tickets each time they read or are read to for 200 minutes, up to 1,000 minutes. BINGO Challenge: All ages can earn raffle tickets by completing activities and getting BINGO on their SUMMER FUN BINGO card. Children’s and Teen Raffle Prizes – Drawstring backpacks, earbuds, sunglasses, and more. Adult Raffle Prizes – Amazon Fire HD 8 Tablet and more.

Training – Before first responders arrive, you can save a life by knowing how to provide hands-only CPR, administer naloxone, and stop bleeding. This class will teach participants how to identify someone who has overdosed from opioids, gone into cardiac arrest, or has uncontrolled bleeding. The Library now offers an important new service to our community called Books-byMail, which provides home book delivery to Library users who are unable to leave their homes due to permanent or temporary disability. The Books-by-Mail service is available to all residents of Orleans Parish who are over eighteen years of age, have a Library card, and are homebound due to medical or mobility issues. Participation in the program requires verification from a physician, nurse, social worker, or assisted living center staff member.
