CLIENT Telford International Centre SCALE 11,600 m² VALUE £14 million COMPLETION 2003

TELFORD INTERNATIONAL CENTRE TELFORD, UK COMMERCIAL: MIXED USE (CAFÉ + RESTAURANT ELEMENT) The redevelopment of TIC is part of a long-term masterplan. This phase increased available exhibition space to 11,600 m² and created a new conference and banqueting suite. A five metre high stainless steel ribbon – flying into and out of the volume enclosing the street – dominates the front elevation, and is crossed by a green copper roof and glazed walls at varying angles. This dynamic form sets the building apart from all others in the town creating the flagship image the client so required in the highly competitive conference and exhibition venue market place. The overall project transformed the existing collection of exhibition halls into an efficient complex designed to respond to the needs of the client, and to entice and excite corporate and public visitors alike: a keynote building for Telford. The development of the centre grew from an initial expansion of the adjoining hotel in the same campus and was carried out in two phases.
