A hop-forward box of goodies this month with IPAs in all shapes and sizes. Invisible Cities makes an appearance alongside breweryfavourite Transmission canned fresh the day before packing. Also freshly canned is Leafcutter, back by popular demand and tasting unreal.

On the more unusual side, we have a super fresh fruited IPA with Make Make, who have made a real name for themselves in the style category, joined by a really, interesting Pineapple and Green Tea Sour IPA sent up from their Portsmouth brewery for Gold Members.

The other collaborating brewery in this month’s box needs no introduction, a sparkling ale with British brewing royalty Fullers using their house yeast for a super balanced and drinkable ale. Our return leg DIPA collab with Frontaal and Zagreb’s Garden Brewery has reached these shores, and is tasting so good we had to put two in Gold boxes.

Amidst all this hoppy chaos, we thought a Full Fathom 5 might offer a little sweet, roasty comfort.

Aside from focusing on the freshest beer possible, we’re bringing back Beer Club events! Is there a style or beer you would have loved to see in this box? Well, we can make it together from scratch! Style Sparkling Ale

ABV 4.0%

Hops Olicana + Ernest + Goldings

We were honoured to collaborate with UK brewing legends John Keeling and Guy Stewart, the past and present Head Brewers of Fullers, utilising their house yeast strain to create this crisp and refreshing Sparkling Ale.

Keeping things simple, the malt grist combined Fawcett’s traditionally floor-malted Golden Promise with Light Crystal to create the base to this cask and can exclusive. Within the whirlpool we added invert sugar, to boost the body, colour and gentle sweetness. Beautifully balanced with the combination of Olicana, Ernest and Goldings T45 hop pellets throughout the hot side of brewing this delicious Sparkling Ale. Vibrant notes of citrus, tropical fruits and floral tones zing from the soft carbonation, making this a quaffable and sessionable summer sipper.

THE LEAFCUTTER

Style DDH IPA

ABV 6.8%

Hops Mosaic + Azacca + Citra

We’re taking you back in time to 2020, when our Sam created his first solo recipe for North and celebrated Mosaic, his favourite hop, with a juicy DDH IPA!

Welcome back The Leafcutter! A straight up hazy IPA, created with a base of extra pale malt, wheat, flaked and naked malted oats, bringing an opaque, slick body we all know and love. Taking inspiration from a Vermont IPA, with a simple edition of Simcoe in the whirlpool providing aromas of pine and fresh cut grass, with a hint of sweet mango. A late dry hop at the end of fermentation using Citra and Mosaic (name a more iconic duo) with Azzaca joining the party too, brings soft blueberry, sticky pineapple, succulent nectarine, finishing with a refreshing bitter note of resinous mountain pine.

NORTH X MAKEMAKE

Style Fruited IPA

ABV 6.0%

Hops Belma + Citra

We normally save our heavy fruit additions for our sours… but when Make Make are in town there’s only one style we want to brew. This fruited IPA has our normal grain bill foundation of Extra Pale, Wheat, Naked Oats and Flaked Oats to bring a soft, protein-rich base, allowing the fruit to really sing.

A powerful punch of ripe strawberry and blend of sweet and sour cherry fruit additions balance sweetness with a drying tartness, with mellow berry and woody notes brightened by the acidity of the fruit. A healthy dry hop of Citra and Belma follows to accentuate lemon and grapefruit citrus notes, giving this dangerously drinkable IPA a depth of bright and zingy summer fruit flavour.

INVISIBLE CITIES

Style Hazy IPA

ABV 6.7%

Hops Talus + Citra + Mosaic

Made using a fine crush of extra pale malt and oats, it’s soft, smooth and loaded with Talus, Citra and Mosaic hops. It’s a bounty of coconut cream, lime, succulent pineapple and juicy orange that swirl into a laid back delight of tropical punch.

Named after the incredible book by Italo Calvino.

Hops Citra + Mosaic + Chinook + Sultana

A beer that needs no introduction, it’s Transmission, our beloved core range IPA. You know what they say about IPA... freshest is bestest! This Transmission is FRESH!

Resinous pine, pithy pink grapefruit zest and fleshy ripe pineapple combines with a soft haze of juicy stone fruits and sweet mango. Transmission is an award winning IPA and our core range headliner. A beer we’re incredibly proud of and one that stands up against the best brewing has to offer!

FULL FATHOM 5

Style Coffee Coconut Porter

ABV 6.5%

Hops Magnum

After the storm and shipwreck we are lying drowned, 30 feet deep in Full Fathom 5.

Full Fathom 5 is our flagship porter. A bountiful of toasted coconut and whole coffee beans from our daily fuel suppliers, North Star Coffee, are both steeped in a rich porter made up of a variety of specialty malts making for a luxurious silk liquid. A family member we dont see often, but when we do, we’re full of love and warm fuzzy feelings.

For those who came to the Beer Club Office Party (had their hands photographed) and tried the Toasted Pecan Stout we made on the brewery pilot kit, I’m sure you’ll agree that we can make a damn tasty beer when we put our heads and hands together. Well, now it’s time to take our collective North Beer Club recipecreating talent up a notch, and brew a full scale batch on the big brew kit!
