We don’t know about you, but being pampered with some scorching hot Bank Holiday weekends has left us so ready for summer. Its been a busy month at the brewery for collabs with friends new and old, and we’ve got some absolute belters to show for it!
Following on from previous experiments with table beers, Telstar is our attempt to marry a big flavour profile with a little ABV as your perfect companion for a summer session, and we’re dead pleased how it’s come out.
Our collab with Danish legends, To Øl is another beer to sip in the sunshine. Together we collaborated on a Wit Bier, trading in the conventional orange peel and coriander for lemon and chamomile, resulting in a
beautifully balanced beer that we are proud of, especially as Wit Bier’s are not something we brew regularly.
The hop-heads amongst you will be pleased to see some big hazy IPAs included in the box too, with this year’s Paria really outdoing itself for its 2023 iteration. A pre-release inclusion of Basqueland is also a very welcome addition to this month’s box, coming straight off the canning line alongside Piñata to bring you the freshest beer possible.

Style Pale Ale

Hops Citra + Mosaic + Amarillo + Chinook
This super sessionable pale is pillowy soft, with a wheat heavy grist that creates a rounded base for the hops really sing. The most iconic hop duo, Citra and Mosaic make up the fore front of flavours for this Pale, with notes of bright tropical fruits and crushed citrus zest. Delightfully balanced with zesty Amarillo and spicy Chinook, bringing a satisfying light bitterness to finish. Your favourite IPAs made small, with a low ABV for those Summer sessions.

Paria Paperboy returned for its 7th year! On Saturday 20th May, cyclists of Yorkshire mounted their two wheeled road eating machines to take to the West Yorkshire hills on a 60-mile round trip from our brewery and back, finishing with a victory beer at Springwell.
The sun was shining as over 200 cyclists joined us for the 2023 edition of this sportif. Seeing the multitude of colourful cycling jerseys whizzing past you on the roads of Yorkshire, as they rode to North Bar Harrogate, across the beautiful hills to North Bar Social and back to Springwell.
It was amazing to see so many cycling teams and groups, including the Valley Striders, Magic Rock Riders, and Outlands Project, who left their usual hub at Fausto (Sunderland) for Springwell for the day.
Paria CC have an undying love for IPA, especially Transmission. Each year we whip together a juiced-up IPA guaranteed to quench the thirst of our riders and dissolve the feeling of aching muscles!
This years celebratory IPA is one not to be missed and features one of our brew teams favourite hops: Belma. Loaded with oats and

wheat to give bountiful body to this year’s edition, it is super smooth, with a lightness that you wouldn’t expect. Belma brings a spicy bite of peppercorn on the first sip and gives way to an ambrosial mix of summer fruits, strawberries and cream, cantaloupe melon, and tropical goodness. This is all balanced with subtle earthy tones, a crisp bitterness, finishing with a savoury sharpness.

Style Wit Bier + Lemon + Camomile
ABV 6.6%
Hops Loral
This zesty Wit Bier was cooked up with our friends at To Øl, who joined us for Springwell Sessions: April 2023. A heavy dose of wheat has been balanced with Pilsner and Light Munich malts to provide a soft yet clean body. Loral elevates the natural herbal flavours within the chamomile, and balances with citrus notes to compliment the lemon zest.
Fermented with Belgian Haze Saison yeast to bring a delightful bready character, with esters of over ripe banana, soft pear, and a refreshing, peppery dry finish. A perfect beer to enjoy in the sun.
CURIOUS ABOUT THE LABEL DESIGN?
Over the years various messages have been woven into North’s label designs. Morse code has featured a couple of times but this time Nautical Flags were used to tell us something about the To Øl’s name.

NORTH X BASQUELAND
Style Oat Cream IPA
ABV 7.2%
Hops Idaho 7, Motueka, Citra
We were so excited to welcome long term friends Basqueland to Springwell for a collab and to pour at Springwell Sessions: April 2023. They’ve been delivering delicious IPAs and Barrel Aged stouts from the Basque Country since 2015 and it was a pleasure to concoct this recipe with them.
This unctuous Oat Cream IPA starts with a grist of 50:50, between oats and barley, providing a super soft body to boost the flavours of Idaho 7, Motueka and Citra. We added Idaho 7 to the whirlpool, to elevate tropical aromas of papaya, mango, and pink grapefruit, whilst the dry hop additions of all three turn those flavours up to 11 and add notes of lime, basil and cantaloupe melon. We added in a little lactose, to balance the flavours and bring that soft sweetness of Oat Cream to this beautiful IPA.

PIÑATA
Style Mango + Guava Pale Ale
ABV 4.5%
Hops Citra + Azzaca + Mosaic
4.5%, juicy and hoppy, Piñata has got it all! It’s had a few recipe changes over the years but now we’ve got it right where we want it. Unfortunately for us, it’s actually a very complicated process to make Piñata.
We fill two separate tanks with the same base beer, one gets a steady dry hop of Citra, Azacca and Mosaic, the other gets pumped full of Kesar Mango and Guava purée. Once each beer is mixed, we chill the tanks down to settle out any solids, then blend the two beers into one big tank to make the supremely juicy party you’re about to experience. Tasty right? All that trouble is totally worth it in the end.

FULL CIRCLE FUTURE SKIES

Hops Cryo POP + Citra + El Dorado
Our third collaboration with Newcastle’s Full Circle Brewing Co brings us to making an IPA perfect for sipping in the sunshine! An extra fine and fluffy base made up of pale malt, oats and chit malt sets the tone for laid back easy drinking!
One of our favourite hop combos, Citra and El Dorado, creates a bright squash of sweet fleshy pear, orange and peach with Yakima Chief’s CRYO POP™ blend bringing a succulent tropical fruit salad medley. The chorus of fruits doesn’t stop there. We finished the beer by circulating it through lemon zest to draw out bright, balmy and tart flavours and aromatics. The result is an undoubtable, proper sunshine refresher!

A sumptuous smooth base of pale malt, wheat, naked oats and rolled oats with Citra, Enigma and Simcoe hops brings continuous blasts of flavour. A base note of tinned apricot halves and pithy zest springboards candied mango, white wine-gums and gooseberry with crushed pine needles, lemon peel and passionfruit finishing with a pinching bite. Soft, fluffy, rounded and laced with dazzling fresh tropical fruit flavour.
