We can’t believe April is on us already! There has been so much going on at the brewery, which can be seen with the absolute bangers that have made their way into this months box.
Our DIPA with our new Birmingham neighbours Attic Brew Co is a big one for us, with the biggest dry hop we’ve ever put in a beer that, after nervously tasting it for the first time, has definitely been worth it. Drink this one fresh! Our collaboration with long-term friends Dark Woods Coffee and Sebastian Ramirez’ El Pacer farm has been especially exciting, using this specially produced coffee to produce a complex yet balanced sour that gives space for the delicate, expressive coffee to shine. We’ve also been dead excited to work with Frontaal who are going from strength to strength in the Netherlands, and to showcase some of their best hop-forward releases for Gold members.
As always, the focus on freshness continues to define our approach to Beer Club boxes. This month, cans of the North x Frontaal and Transmission have literally come straight off the line and into the subscription boxes that have been released the very next day. Unless you’re drinking it straight from the tank, you won’t find a fresher beer anywhere else!
Aside from the beers, we’re gearing up for our second Springwell Sessions in our new home and it’s set to be a great weekend! There’s free tickets to any members who wish to come and join us (more info inside!), and we’d love to see you down here and share a beer together.
Hope everyone enjoys the beers, and hopefully see you all soon!

Hops —
Last year we worked with Dark Woods coffee to select coffee beans to infuse with a barrel aged imperial stout. It was then when they mentioned a unique coffee making its way to them from Columbia.
Made with Colombia Pink Bourbon IPA Coffee Beans from Sebastian Ramirez’ El Pacer farm . The coffee is unique in its production, utilising anaerobic honey process. The coffee fruit has been carbonically macerated using beer yeast and hops to extract the coffee bean from the fruit.
With Dark Woods, we underwent a thorough testing process. Dosing the base beer with various amounts of the IPA coffee beans for various amounts of time, measuring, tasting and analysing until finally deciding on a process to infuse the beans with the beer.
We set out the beer base to be as clean as possible. We’ve used a very simple, low colour and low flavour malt base with gentle souring to make a base that, whilst being full bodied and slightly sweet, encroaches on this unique coffee as little as possible. A slight sour edge and an addition of unwaxed lemon zest aims to highlight and enhance the coffee’s delicate complexity.
Think coffee tonic. Tart, dry, slightly bitter, botanical, spritzy and highly refreshing and accented with a red berry / bramble profile, umami, a touch of roast, mango and sweetly tropical finish.

WIPER & TRUE x NORTH — BIRTHDAY BEER 2
ABV 7.0%
30kg of toasted coconut flakes were selected, to add complex caramelised sugars and nuttiness to a rich, dark malt bill. Amping up the coconut further, we also added 10kg of coconut flour to the boil. Produced by processing the flesh of coconut once the milk has been extracted, coconut flour brings further layers of sweet, gentle nuttiness. Next up: hops. You can’t create a coconut beer without thinking about the famously divisive varietal Sabro. North and Wiper and True are both fans of this hop when used carefully. 10kg of T-90 Sabro pellets in the whirlpool, to retain a slight edge of bitterness and avoid cloying sweetness. A litre of vanilla extract rounded everything off, creating a big, rich beer with a really enjoyable mouthfeel and bags of adjunct-fuelled flavour fun.

Frontaal are one of the most exciting and fastest growing venues in the Netherlands, and we couldn’t be more excited to be collaborating with them! Starting out in 2016 on a tiny 250L kit in a couple of shipping containers, Roel Buckens has guided the brewery through multiple crowdfunding rounds and brewing locations. 2023 sees their most ambitious move yet, relocating to a huge new brewing site eight times the size of their current space, funded by their latest crowdfunding round that has amassed €2.5m from nearly 3000 investors.
This new site allows them to ramp up their beer output twentyfold, and turn their attention to other projects such as an on-site coffee roastery and the production of non-alcoholic beers. The new site also allows them to improve their sustainability focus, with rooftop solar panels and a gasless heating system with heat recovery.
This is not to say that their current set up is restricting their creativity in any way, however, bringing out 48 different specials and 12 barrel aged beers every year! We specifically love Frontaal’s approach to hop forward beer, with their flagship NEIPA Juice Punch being a fantastic example of the style. I’m sure anyone who attended the Frontaal Tap Takeover at
North Bar last month and tried the standard and double version would agree!
This month, we have included two of their hoppier collabs with Budapest’s Mad Scientist and Portugal’s Dois Corvos, and a fantastic TIPA with Norway’s Lervig. Silver Members don’t fret – the North x Frontaal NEIPA is
included in both boxes, and came off the canning line and straight to Beer Club boxes on dispatch day. You can’t get fresher than that!
