Welcome to September’s Beer Club boxes. This month’s box sees the return of Double Transmission! It was so good we brewed it twice! It’s everything you know and love about our flagship Transmission enriched, fortified and enhanced. We also have a brand new beer from our friends at Stillwater, and our tribute to an all-American classic. Paper, Scissors is our take on Stone Brewing’s Arrogant Bastard Imperial Red Ale. We’ve got a lot of new beers planned which we’re really really excited about plus a lot of events! We’re heading to Rivington for their Farm Trip festival, Leeds International Beer Festival is back, this time set in the incredible Kirkstall Abbey, we cannot wait! - of course, Springwell Sessions is almost here (more on that later) and the long awaited return of Manchester’s, Indy Man Beer Con! Cloudwater brew modern, seasonal beer in the heart of Manchester. They’re famous for their collaborations, DIPA series, and incredible beer festival – Friends, Family and Beer.
Field Recordings is an experimental brewery based at North’s original brew site. Here we look at historic brewing techniques and see how we can translate these into modern styles.
Too much spicy are in the house! The maestros of pairing craft beer and Indian street food are now brewing! Rarely seen outside their own bars, we are so excited to have Bundobust pouring here at Springwell. In a small corner of Cornwall something very special happened in 2014. Verdant set out to brew juicy, hoppy, unfiltered, hazy beers that are always vegan! And they were very, very good at it!
Fresh Stillwater® beers brewed here in Leeds under a unique partnership that enables us to bring the same level of quality and innovation to both sides of the pond. Run by some of the best in the business, Left Handed Giant have become true friends of the team here at North. Visit their brewpub – a gorgeous riverside location in Bristol.
Our neighbours here in Leeds, Northern Monk, are powered by community and collaboration. We spend our summers pouring together at beer festivals across the globe, swapping beers and tequilas.
Fresh beer and wild ales brewed from nature with purpose. The team at Duration have restored an ancient farmhouse in Norfolk into a gorgeous taproom and brewery. Visiting from Manchester, Track have built up a devoted family of fans through their iconic Sonoma Pale. Watch out for their Gold Top series and seasonal releases. Always at the top of their game.
The crocs are coming! Deya are known for their brilliant hazy IPAs, thirst quenching Tappy Pils, and killer 750ml special releases. We can’t wait to see what they bring.
Forget the dull, bland alcohol free beer you have tried before. BRULO use modern brewing techniques to create beers that are always alcohol free, vegan and never compromise on taste. Joining us from Southampton are Unity Brewing Co. Last year we brewed a Sour IPA with plums together which was one of our beers of the year. We cannot wait to see what they bring to The Springwell Sessions.
Run and owned by its members, Boundary are changing the face of drinking in Belfast: They lobbied Parliament to change the law and open a taproom at their brewery. Gipsy Hill were one of our first ever collab partners way back when! We’ve since brewed together a few more times, including taking their brewers on a Magical Mystery Tour of every single North venue during a slightly chaotic evening in 2019!

Visiting us from a quiet corner of rural Scotland, Fyne Ales have been brewing beers that we love to drink for over twenty years. OGs of the northern beer scene, Wylam are some of our best friends in the industry. We’ve brewed together, we’ve drunk together, and when Dave is let loose on the decks we dance together.

Layered aromas of tropical fruit, white grape, citrus and pine, lead seamlessly from nose to palate, creating a floral fruitiness with restrained Thebitterness.increased malt base brings the volume up to 7% ABV, while the saké rice provides silky mouthfeel with a crisp and clean finish. TRANSMISSIONDOUBLE Style Double IPA ABV 8.0% Hops Mosaic + Citra + Chinook + Sultana Everything you know and love about our flagship Transmission enriched, fortified and enhanced. Turn up the volume, it’s Double Transmission! We’ve kept our signature Transmission grist of English Pale malt, wheat and a little dextrose, then fermented with London Ale yeast and here’s where the magic happens. Carrying a hefty 25g/l total dry hop of fresh Sultana and Chinook during active fermentation and finished with Citra and Mosaic. This delivers an uncompromisingly rich and lusciously smooth Double IPA dripping with sweet pineapple, tacky pine resin, candied pink grapefruit zest and tropical stone fruit. Style DDH IPA ABV 6.5% Hops Nelson Sauvin + Vic Secret + Ekuanot + Waimea + Cryo Pop
A special event calls for a special beer! We started with a soft and silky base, mashing with heaps of oats and opting for a tiny dash of bittering hops, just to keep us going back for more. Then we have gone all out on the flavour and aroma hops! Setting the base with Yakima Chiefs CRYO POP™ blend and Waimea in the whirlpool, we’ve then dosed it up with 4 separate dry hops during and after fermentation, cramming it full of Vic Secret, Nelson Sauvin and TheEkuanot.result is a smooth and pillowy and hop punch full of limey freshness, sweet white wine, honey melon, gooseberry and an overriding feeling of togetherness!

The recipe and brew has really hit its stride, it’s a beer we all look forward to brewing and enjoy drinking even more once it’s finished its long lagering process. Brewed using German Pilsner Malt and Cara Gold it has a body with glimmering golden colour and a touch of sweetness. A lengthy bottom fermentation gives Springwell Pils it’s light, clean and fresh profile whilst a very small dry hop of modern German Callista and noble Mittelfruh finishes the beer with delicate tart gooseberry, fresh herb and floral characteristics.
As you can tell, this month’s box is very much about Springwell Sessions, bringing you our festival beer, Springwell Sessions DDH IPA and the inside scoop of what’s to come during the festival, so it only seems right that Springwell Pils makes an appearance! - Plus, who doesn’t like a nice crisp Pilsner during the summertime?

We first met Gaz, Nik and James about a year ago at London Craft Beer Festival and we’ve been mates ever since. They’re really nice people, always a good laugh and their beers always spot on. We’ve had a few scoops of Vampires in Havana over the summer festival season, we really like it and we thought you might too. Enjoy!

It’s been another busy summer of festivals and it’s almost over. (Boo!) One of our favourite things about festivals is obviously trying new beers but also spending time with our friends!
VAMPIRESISLAND IN HAVANA VEGAN
Our tribute to a stone cold classic.. One of the originals in aggressively hoppy beers, San Diego’s Stone Brewing has no doubt been integral to craft beer’s growth across the world. This beer binds together an array of complex malts and one of the boldest hops to come from the US. Extra Pale, Pale Crystal, Dark Crystal, Medium Crystal and Special B malts bring a robust base full of chewy, caramelised and slightly roasty character for Chinook hops to wrestle with. We added the freshest Chinook hops throughout the brew to bring out its unmistakable fresh pine and pithy grapefruit zest character. It’s big, it’s malty, it’s hoppy and it’s bitter. It revelles in its unprecedented and uncompromising celebration of intensity. / BARLEY

We love having a Best Bitter in our regular brewing schedule and this is another recipe that’s hitting its stride. Seasons Reverse is a firm favourite with our brew team!
VEGAN / CONTAINS BARLEY + WHEAT
Style Best Bitter ABV 4.3% Hops Bullion + East Kent Goldings + Cascade
Heritage Chevallier, Crystal, Munich, Amber Malt and Torrefied Wheat provide a fine crunchy biscuit and sweet marmalade base with a clear and rich amber hue. A blend of whole leaf Bullion, East Kent Goldings and UK Cascade allow for a strong bitter line to run through the whole drink and provide fine blackberry, honey flavour and clean pine aroma.
Style IPA ABV 6.0% Hops Citra + Mosaic A rich and smooth IPA we’ve trialed a new dry hopping technique using incognito hops. The most iconic hop duo, Citra and Mosaic make for sweet, juicy blueberry and sharp fresh cut pineapple flavour upfront and odorous dank aroma make for a straight talking and instantly satisfying IPA. Keep an eye out for Songbird appearing on Sainsbury’s shelves! SONGBIRD VEGAN / CONTAINS BARLEY + WHEAT
We have a lot of love for Pomona Island and their offbeat and innovative ingredient combinations. In this beer we’ve taken inspiration from a favourite dessert, the Pineapple Flambé! Let’s pour the rum and light the match! We’ve started with a thick and smooth base made up of plenty of naked oats, flaked oats and wheat. We added in Brown Demerara Sugar to the boil to sweeten the beer up, caramelise and bring out all of those deep and lovely molasses and toffee flavours. Spicy and aromatic cinnamon in the whirlpool compliments the sweetness whilst a big dose of Pineapple pureé and a dash of Sabro hops bring the tropics! A real treat! Sweet caramelised Pineapple upfront, gritty brown sugar sweetness and warming flare of cinnamon and coconut on the mid with a touch of spiced rum on the finish! Bon Appétit!
