HELLO! It’s been another busy month at Springwell with lots of new beers in the tanks. This month’s box sees us look back at some of the beers that we fell in love with early in our craft beer journey. The Eighth Chamber is a tribute to West Coast IPAs with an all Centennial hop base, and a focus on piney bitterness. Our brand ambassador, Alex, has fallen in love with this beer and hasn’t been seen drinking anything else all month! On the release day he was found begging the sales team to save him a case! We also welcomed Marko and Mayur from Bundobust to brew a collab based on Nimbu Pani. Our Salted Lemon Sour pays tribute to the lemonade style soft drink served by street food traders across Asia. It’s currently fermenting in tank twelve, and will be appearing in next month’s boxes!

North X Beer Gods is back! Some of you may have got your hands on a taste of this beer earlier this year... We managed to juggle a little stock around and free up some cases for this month’s Beer Club boxes! Our house IPA malt grist loaded with a few more oats to take the heaps of Citra, El Dorado and Simcoe we piled into the FV. Dripping with sticky passion fruit, soft fleshy papaya, fizzy mango and succulent guava! It is absolutely singing in the tropical fruit department!

THE EIGHTH CHAMBER Style
West Coast IPA

Hops Centennial Intense hop aroma and lean malt balance in this West Coast IPA, The Eighth Chamber. A robust malt backbone made using cara and extra pale creates a slightly sweet biscuit base. Nothing but fresh Centennial hops added throughout the duration of the boil, whirlpool and in the dry hop make for a classic bitter West Coast IPA laden with fruity esters, zesty grapefruit, aromatic pine, sticky resin and dancing floral aroma.

THE ORDER OF THINGS Style
Pale Ale
ABV 4.8% Hops
Citra + Mosaic + Amarillo
Some processes need to happen in a certain order. We mash, sparge, boil, chill, pitch yeast, dry hop/any other fancy business, transfer, carbonate, package and deliver. You choose your drink, take a seat and enjoy. It’s the order of things. Made with extra pale malt and wheat, fermented with our house ale yeast and hopped with Citra, Mosaic and Amarillo, The Order of Things holds a balance of sweet malt, fine fluffy texture, lemon rind, fresh cut grass and freshly squeezed orange juice that washes through this laid back and crushable 4.8% pale ale.

OPEN SPACE Style
Gluten Free West Coast Pale
ABV 4.5% Hops
Simcoe + Chinook
Brew number 2 for Open Space. We released the first version of this earlier in 2021 and it sold out in days! Apparently people have been on the hunt for a Gluten Free option from North! This batch hasn’t even been canned at the time of writing the booklet! It’s going straight off the canning line and on to the Beer Club pallet in the cold store. All kinds of fresh! And the beer? Open Space is a pale ale made with Best Ale, Cara and Light Munich malt to make a crisp and crunchy base with a deep golden hue. A steady dry hop of Simcoe and Chinook boasts sticky grapefruit, lemon, floral bouquets and pine flavours with a spiky pinch on the finish. The best part about this beer? it’s gluten free!

SEA OF THE CURVE Style
Kohatu Pale Ale
ABV 4.2% Hops Kohatu Sea of the Curve, a fresh and rounded pale ale. Smooth and laid back with a gentle sweetness from extra pale and a small amount of oats and dry hopped with nothing but New Zealand Kohatu hops. Intense tropical fruit aroma and freshly crushed pine needles run throughout and finish with a pleasant and balanced bitterness

SPRINGWELL PILS Style Pilsner ABV 4.5% Hops

We genuinely cannot brew enough of this beer! Each month Seb thinks he’s added enough extra batches to the schedule, and each month we sell out! Anyone got a bigger boat?! We are so proud of the reaction to our flagship beer from our new home. It’s been going down brilliantly at the taproom. Last weekend Dan went through a 50l keg in nine minutes. He didn’t stop pouring it! Crisp, light and rounded. Springwell Pils is an unfiltered lager lightly hopped with Callista and MittelFruh. A taste of the summer in Leeds!

SEA OF ISLANDS Style
Session IPA

We return to our exploration of low alcohol beers in the Maria and Oceanus Basaltic plains in Sea of Islands. A smooth and creamy sessionable IPA brewed with experimental hop HBC 630. Waves of lemon juice, aromatic peach, subtle sweet cherry and fresh raspberries wash over you and instil calm as you lay still, embedded in the shore.

HERZOG Style
Kolsch Style Lager
ABV 5.0% Hops Tettnang It’s been a little while since Herzog was seen around the brewery! Our crisp, clean Kölsch style Lager is back! Originally brewed for our friends at Duke’s Studios in Leeds Herzog is now a key part of our core range. Brewed with 100% German Ingredients and full of fresh zest aroma and smooth malt character.

THIS MONTH’S GUEST BEER IS FROM SCOTLAND’S OVERTONE BREWING CO. We are really excited to welcome Overtone to the brewery in August where we’ll be brewing a collab together at Springwell. Ahead of this we’ve been conducting a long distance relationship via email and jumped at the chance to include one of their beers in your boxes. Founded in summer 2018 Overtone have made a real splash in the Scottish Craft Beer scene.
Their adventure started with Bowei Wang, a passionate homebrewer who had harboured the ambition of owning his own brewery. Wang understands the role of craft beer: To be shared with friends and influence great experiences. This has driven his vision for Overtone. Head Brewer, Dan Miller, hails from New Hampshire, bringing a whole host of experience with American beer styles. This has enabled Overtone to produce some fantastic beers in their first few years! Prepandemic we would hunt down their stand at beer festivals to try their IPAs and stouts. Like North, Overtone love to experiment with different beer styles releasing new beers every month. We cannot wait to welcome them to Springwell! Keep your eyes on our social media feeds to get a sneak peak at what we’re plotting together.
OVERTONE TWISTED SENSE Style
BA Imperial Stout

An Imperial Stout from our friends at Overtone. They say: “We brewed our traditional American Imperial Stout, Dark Banter, then aged it in Scotch Whisky barrels. Smooth, rich, dark coffee flavours from the roasted malts and oats, while the barrels infuse the beer with sweet caramel, biscuit and almond flavours and some subtle smokiness. “
