HELLO! That was a busy summer! We poured at a LOT of beer festivals. We made a LOT of Bloody Marys. And we had a lot of fun here in Leeds too. September saw the first in-person meeting of the North Running Club. Springwell was filled with runners in their trainers who headed out on a 5k loop around Meanwood before being rewarded with a cold drink back at the taproom. It was ace to see lots of bar staff joining in and being on the other side of the bar! We’re gearing up for a busy Autumn, with lots of collabs booked in, trips to both Denmark and Cornwall, and more events at Springwell.

North Brewing Co turns 6 this November, so we’re planning a proper birthday party at the brewery. We haven’t officially announced it yet however I’d advise that you keep Saturday 27th November free! (We’re brewing something very special for the occasion!). This month’s box sees guest beers from London’s Brick Brewery. We had a great time visiting them over the summer, and can’t wait for you to try our collab.

Enjoy the beers! Lots of love North xxx

NEWS LAST MONTH WE WELCOMED OVER 80 BEER CLUB MEMBERS TO SPRINGWELL TO HANG OUT, DRINK BEER AND MEET THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE BREWERY! It was an incredible night, and we want to give a massive thank you, not just to the people who came, but to all our subscribers. It’s you that have kept us going this past year and a half. Your loyalty, enthusiasm and passion are seen, heard, and appreciated. THANK YOU! Guests were welcomed with a can of The Order of Things fired fresh off the line that day! Founders and owners, Christian and John and our Beer Club and Webshop manager, Rob, gave some speeches we tucked into the only cask of our Oat Cream DIPA brewed in collaboration with Overtone in existence. We then kicked off the brewery tours! Our Production Manager, Sam, Brand Ambassador, Alex and Taproom Managers, Dan and Olly, took groups around Springwell, describing the processes, ingredients and techniques that go into making our beers.

To finish, we had a good old knees up with some informal and intimate tastings of our recent releases with Head Brewer, Seb, Cellaring master, Bryony and Marketing Manager, Sarah on hand to talk about the beers and all things North! We genuinely had such a good time meeting everyone! If you didn’t make it to this one, we really hope you can join us for the next. We’ve already started making plans and there are some really exciting ideas flying around. Maybe you’ll be the first to try North’s first ever Barrel Aged Beers? Watch this space…

Italian Pilsner

ABV

Hops

Saaz T90 + Saaz (Lupomax)

In collaboration with Beak Brewery in Lewes, we’ve made a crisp and hoppy Italian Pilsner. Utilising heritage Haná Malt, the first ever variety of malt to be used in a Golden Pilsner recipe in Bavaria back in 1842, in 100% of the grist brings subtle notes of freshly baked bread, a foamy body and a bright golden hue. Czech Saaz, one of our favourites, is used in both the whirlpool and dry hop in pure powdered Lupomax and T90 format. This brings an incredibly bright and vibrant flavour, with fresh and herbaceous qualities and a gentle touch of lemon zest and floral aroma. The beautiful can label was born from the designers’ love for Leeds. Beak’s Jay Cover illustrated one of the city’s famous Brutalist structures, the Roger Stevens Building, in his signature style. Refold then took Jay’s drawing and fragmented it into a new arrangement taking inspiration from Italian designer Bruno Munari.

Huell Melon (Lupomax) + Galaxy + Sabro

It’s been 5 weeks since Glasgow’s finest, Overtone Brewing Co graced our brewery hall. Together, we put our brew kit to the test. Attempting to make the smoothest creamiest DIPA possible and oh me oh my did it come out good! You’re going to want to sit down for this one. Chock full of extra pale malt + 30% flaked oats in the grist and finished with a gentle addition of lactose this DIPA is so soft, so creamy and so smooth. Oat Cream base, check! - Now the fun part. Lupomax Huell Melon, Galaxy and Sabro entwine and deliver an intense tropical smoothie of piña colada, cantaloupe, vanilla, honey drizzled passion fruit and coconut cream finishing with a long and lasting pinch of fresh green bitterness.

EMPIRE OF SOUNDS Style

IPA

ABV

Hops

Lotus + Mosaic

Empire of Sounds takes a grist of pale malt and wheat to create a full bodied, smooth, malty and slightly sweet base. We’ve fermented with US-05 yeast to impart as little yeast character as possible in order to let these delicious hops shine. Lotus hops bring strong pithy orange juice with all the bits and intense grapefruit juice, whilst Mosaic lends its classic dank, spicey, earthy blueberry and juicy pineapple flavours. The crescendo of tropical flavour is finished with a balanced and satisfying bitterness of candied citrus peel.

Hops None A light and refreshing 3.6% fruited sour to see in the return of summer! Lots of wheat in the grist gives a light and rounded body. Lemon Zest in the boil, fruited with Passion Fruit and fermented with Voss Kveik makes for a clean, tart and cool sour beer full of juicy tropic flavour.

THE ORDER OF THINGS Style

Hops

Citra + Mosaic + Amarillo

The Order of Things makes its second appearance in the North Beer Club Box! This time in a slightly smaller format. We were really really happy with how this Pale Ale came out and the response has been wonderful! We thought it deserved a little bit more time to shine, so we cooked up another batch! Essentially we took our core range Pale Ale, Sputnik and made a few small adjustments to the grist, dry hopping and water Ph. The Order of Things is made with extra pale malt and wheat, fermented with our house ale yeast and hopped with Citra, Mosaic and Amarillo. It balances sweet malt, fine fluffy texture, succulent juicy orange, lemon zest and crushability!

LINE OF AQUARIUS Style

4.6%

Hops

Kohatu + Vic Secret

In Line of Aquarius we begin a new journey that follows on from our ‘Sea of’ series, in creating delicious and sessionable pale ales. Line of Aquarius takes a fluffy and soft base of pale malt and wheat with a touch of cara pils for sweetness and lays on top a light dusting of New Zealand Kohatu and Australian Vic Secret bringing a squash of juicy nectarine, vinous grape and a breeze of elderflower on the finish. The series will continue in the design, each label is connected through a continuous line guiding you through each beer.

PRECIOUS FALLING Style

Fruited Sour + Honeyberry + Hibiscus + Lemon

ABV

Hops None Precious Falling is an adaptation of our signature Triple Fruited Gose recipe. With the usual grist featuring additions of salt and lactose and lacto-fermented we’ve infused the beer with a large quantity of Honey Berry and Hibiscus flowers bringing a drying and jammy melody of tannin, blueberry, subtle vanilla, blackcurrant and a floral finish. Dewaxed lemon zest emphasises the sour notes, brings a clean finish and raises a lasting sherbet finish. A smile and wave as we say farewell to the summer months and welcoming embrace to Autumn.
