NCRS NORTH CENTRAL CHAPTER Dave Murphy Editor 279 Lily Pond Lane Vadnais Heights, MN 55127

MAIL TO:

October to December 2016 EDITION

A happy holiday season to all NCRS members and their families. We wish you all a prosperous New Year. Reflecting on 2016, here are the highlights and milestones that stand out from this past year.  Our annual winter gathering was held at Mancini’s in March. That’s always a fun event and a nice way to get our members and spouses together in celebration of our friendship and camaraderie. Thanks to Don O’Grady for planning such a great event.  Our chapter hosted another successful regional judging meet in May, again in Rochester, Minn. Chris Enstrom and his crew put in lots of long hours to pull off a successful event. Great Job! We had several 1966 Corvettes that drove down from the Cities in a caravan to kick off the event and it wrapped up with a festive dinner where awards were presented. We had five new Master Judges who received their hats this year.  We lost a club member in August – Dave Martin. His wife, Arlene, told us that Dave got one last ride in his Corvette from the church to the cemetery. Our thoughts are with Arlene and Dave’s family during this holiday season.  We held a fall judging event in August at Steve Hendrickson’s facility in Long Lake, Minn. where we judged some very nice cars. At our annual meeting, our members elected a new Vice President, Miles Alden. Thank you to Mike Lyddy for his past service. Now on to 2017! We’re excited about our chapter’s participation in the World of Wheels being held March 17 – 19 at the new U.S. Bank Stadium in downtown Minneapolis. We are looking for members who are willing to display their car at this event. The board will make the final selection of one car for each generation (C1 through C7) for the display. Contact Alden Miles at armiles1226@yahoo.com before January 15 if you’re interested. Besides being fun to see all of the cars at the show, it will be a great opportunity to promote our chapter. Also, our Southern neighbors – Iowa Heartland – will be hosting a regional judging meet May 4 – 6 in Newton, Iowa (suburb of Des Moines). This is very close to us if you are looking for a regional top flight award. Take care. Happy New Year!

Pete Huenisch asked for the chapters help in preparing for the removal of the motor in his ’69 Corvette. One of the cylinders is shot so Pete is going to have the engine rebuilt. 11 members showed up with tools and energy to burn. Removing the radiator was probably the most difficult task but it was completed successfully. The engine was ready to pull at the end of the tech session. Pete would like to thank everybody that helped out.

Jason Alt hosted a tech session at Auto Vault Premier Storage in Eagan. The project was to remove and replace the radiator on Jason’s C2 Corvette. When the 17 members were not working they could admire the other collector and exotic cars being stored there. It was a nice venue for a tech session.
