Moonlight Amphitheatre – Live Theatre Under The Stars! We’re Giving Away Free Tickets! The Producers June 12-29 A down-on-his-luck Broadway producer and his mild-mannered accountant come up with a scheme to produce the most notorious flop in history, thereby bilking their backers out of millions of dollars. But something goes awry and the show is a hit. As they maneuver their way fecklessly through finding a show, hiring a director, raising the money and going to prison for their misdeeds, the antics of Max Bialystock and Leo Bloom are a lesson in broad comic construction. At the core of the insanely funny adventure is a poignant emotional journey of two very different men who become friends. Winner of a record twelve Tony Awards. John Waite July 6, 7:30pm Rock icon John Waite and his band perform his catalogue of hits from his 40-year career as a solo artist and lead singer of the bands The Babys and Bad English. His talent for power ballads and driving arena rock occasionally touched on new wave-styled power pop, making him a fixture of the rock and roll scene. His repertoire includes the No. 1 worldwide hit “Missing You,” The Babys’ “Isn’t It Time,” and Bad English’s “When I See You Smile.” Matilda The Musical July 17-August 3 Inspired by the twisted genius of Roald Dahl, the Tony Award-winning Matilda The Musical is a pro-

Check this one off your bucket list! Their 2019 show, “The Time Machine,” takes audiences around the globe and into the past, present, and future in search of stunning art and amazing stories. duction from the Royal Shakespeare Company that revels in the anarchy of childhood, the power of imagination and the story of a girl who dreams of a better life. Matilda is a little girl with astonishing wit, intelligence and psychokinetic powers. She’s unloved by her cruel parents but impresses her schoolteacher, the loveable Miss Honey. Over the course of her first term at school, Matilda and Miss Honey have a profound effect on each other’s lives, as Miss Honey begins not only to recognize but also appreciate Matilda’s extraordinary personality. Matilda’s school life isn’t completely smooth sailing, however—the school’s mean headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, hates children and just loves thinking up new punishments for those who don’t abide by her rules. West Side Story August 14-31 Based on the book by Arthur Laurents and featuring a score by Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim, the world’s greatest love story takes to the streets in this landmark Broadway musical. Romeo and Juliet are transported to New York City as two young, idealistic lovers who find themselves caught between warring street gangs, the “American” Jets and the Puerto Rican Sharks. Their struggle to survive in a world of hate, violence and prejudice is one of the most

innovative, heart-wrenching and relevant musical dramas. Victor/Victoria September 11-28 Victor/Victoria is a witty, comic romp examining questions of gender, identity and love in 1930s Paris. English soprano Victoria Grant finds herself at a nightclub, without work or money, where she meets Carroll Todd, or “Toddy,” a performer at the club who gets fired trying to help her. With Toddy’s help, Victoria becomes “Count Victor Grazinski,” a renowned female impersonator. The twist is that she is a woman, claiming to be a man, claiming to be a woman. Things get even crazier when sparks begin to fly between Victoria and a notorious Chicago businessman, King Marchan, and he sets out to uncover “the Count’s” secret. Enter to Win Tickets! We’re giving away pairs of free tickets to The Producers or Matilda The Musical. It’s easy to enter. Just visit www. NorthCountySun.com and fill in the easy entry form. North Coast Repertory Theatre Wiesenthal June 10-11, 7:30pm While packing up his files on an April afternoon in 2003, Wiesenthal, affectionately called “The Jewish James Bond,” recounts how he solved his most sensational cases. New Works Reading: No Choice By Judge H. Lee Sarokin June 18, 7:30pm A young couple fights the government over legislation that prohibits an abortion because of certain information obtained through early testing of the fetus. The play is based upon an actual law enacted in Indiana and raises an issue likely to end up in the Supreme Court. Another Roll of the Dice July 10-August 4 The World Premiere of Another Roll of the Dice re-unites songwriter Frank Loesser and author Damon Runyon, the creators of the legendary Broadway musical Guys and Dolls. In “Dice,” three classic Runyon stories are intertwined with hits from the Frank Loesser songbook, including “Heart and Soul,” “Two Sleepy People,” and “Let’s Get Lost,” performed by iconic Runyonesque characters. Don’t gamble on losing out on this sure-fire winner destined for many future productions. The Peter Sprague Trio July 15, 7:30pm

Back by popular demand, the Peter Sprague jazz trio explores songs that resonate with baby boomers. They start with The Beatles, Stevie Wonder, Bob Marley, Jimi Hendrix, James Taylor and Cream, and then they add some Cole Porter for balance. New Works Reading: Ideation by Aaron Loeb July 22, 7:30pm Aaron Loeb brings a dark comic edge to this psychological suspense thriller, in which a group of corporate consultants work together on a mysterious and ethically ambiguous project. As the lines between right and wrong are blurred, the characters must navigate the cognitive dissonances and moral dilemmas to decide for themselves if everything is as it really seems. Tuesday Night Comics July 23, 7:30pm Hosted by Mark Christopher Lawrence, Tuesday Night Comics is arguably the funniest night of comedy in San Diego. Lawrence taps into his extensive list of talented comedian friends and shares the stage with them. New Village Arts Theatre presents: Little Shop of Horrors June 1 – Aug. 4 Little Shop of Horrors, the classic horror comedy rock musical, tells the story of down-on-his-luck Seymour Krelborn, who finds a strange and unusual plant during an eclipse and believes it to be his opportunity to escape his unhappy life in rundown Skid Row. His coworker Audrey is also dealing with her own problems, and dreams of going “somewhere that’s green.” What neither of them realize, however, is that this strange and

unusual plant is actually an animated, smooth-talking, man-eating monster bent on world domination. As one of the longest-running Off-Broadway shows, Little Shop of Horrors has won the Drama Critics Circle Award and Drama Desk Award for Best Musical. New Village Arts Theatre is located at 2787 State St., Carlsbad. For more information, call (760) 433-3245 or visit www.newvillagearts.org.

Enjoy their Best Tuesday Nights in San Marcos. Every first Tuesday of the month Cucina Amoré offers their “Tour of Italy” menu created from a select region or city in Italy, and presents dinner along with a glass of house wine for $5 a glass. This charming 36-seat restaurant fills up quickly, so it is recommended to call ahead to reserve a table, especially on weekends. Asked what is his favorite signature dish? “It’s hard to name a signature dish,” says owner Lorenzo “Clint” Legnani, “Everything is made with love and passion (that is what Cucina Amore’ means) but you should try the Fritto Misto, a splendid mix of seafood and vegetables served with our special aioli sauce. Our Fettuccini Carbonara is delicious and so is the Osso Buco served on chef’s bounissimo herb and cheese risotto.” Cucina Amoré has nightly specials and is open for dinner seven days a week. Lunch is available from 11am–2pm, Tuesday–Sunday, offering fast service with pastas, salads and sandwiches to enjoy during your lunch break. Urban Tadka

This quaint family-owned Indian restaurant, located in San Marcos in the Campus II shopping center near Cal State San Marcos, has a new name, a locally famous executive chef, and is under new ownership. India-born Executive Chef Fiony Fernandes has curated all the elements of the restaurant to present a wonderful culinary experience. He offers his vast collection of authentic Indian dishes from fresh and seasonal ingredients, and his remarkable 18-year experience in the restaurant industry that has taught him how to creatively blend spices with hand picked and internationally imported herbs to prepare in his studio kitchen. He complements his craft with brilliant flavors and grace before presenting them for your culinary experience. Urban Tadka offers a “tadka” of fresh ingredients and spices imported from around India. A Tadka Dal is a mixture of many regional spices and vegetables that together make the tastiest curries, sauces and flavors. Their menu consists of both vegetarian and

non-vegetarian dishes. The atmosphere is friendly, the service is professional, the serving portions are bountiful, and the menu prices are on the lower end of most Indian curry restaurants. Everything we have tried on their menu has been delicious. We highly recommend their Amritsari Saag Paneer (homemade simmered spinach with cheese cubes, tomatoes and exotic spices). Try the Chicken Tikka Masala (white meat grilled chicken cooked in a spiced creamy tomato and paprika sauce). Also one of our favorites is their Paneer Tikka Biryani Rice (char-grilled paneer tikka cooked with special sauce, spices and herbs). Their menu has vegetarian and non-vegetarian main entrees, seafood entrees, Tandoori Kababs, Indo-Chinese entrees, 13 types of Naan, Biryani Rice dishes, appetizers, Kati Rolls, soups and salads, desserts, Lassi smoothies, beer and wine. Clip their discount from our coupon pages! Urban Tadka is located at 801 S. Twin Oaks Valley Rd. #101, San Marcos 92078. Call (760) 891-8338 or follow them @urbantadkasm.

Rosati’s Pizza

With over 30 local craft beers on tap, happy hour at Rosati’s is very lively Monday through Friday from 3-7pm with beer and wine and appetizer specials. They have live music every Friday night. Bring your family and enjoy a real Chicago-style meal indoors, or dine on their spacious patio. Make your Father’s Day reservations early. If you’re a pizza lover or are from Chicago or the mid-west, then you most likely know about Rosati’s Pizza. Their delicious, cheese dripping Chicago-style deep dish Italian pizza created by Ferdinand Rosati was originated when he opened his first restaurant on Taylor Street in Chicago in 1906, a hundred and twelve years ago. Back then, the pizza was old-world with tomato sauce served on crispy bread. In 1927 Ferdinand’s son, Saverio, opened a Rosati’s on Pulaski Street. Skip ahead to 1964 when Saverio’s sons took over and proceeded to open ten locations, and now have 200 restaurants nationwide. Authentic Chicago-style deep-dish pizza has two main ingredients:

Italian tomato sauce and Mozzarella cheese. This delicious combo is baked inside a deep-dish crust. You can order yours this authentic way; or you can add an assortment of toppings. Rosati’s deep-dish crust is light and crispy. We don’t know how they do this; but it’s a special craft to make deep-dish with a crispy crust. Their deep-dish pizza is mouth watering with mounds of gooey Mozzarella and topped with Pomodoro tomatoes. It’s something you must add to your bucket list. Caution: It takes about 30-45 minutes to bake this pie perfectly. They also serve Chicagostyle thin crust pizza, as well as gluten-free thin crust pizza! Rosati’s offers build-your-own pasta, specialty pastas, calzone, salads, and desserts. Clip their Wing Wednesdays Coupon from our coupon pages or download from http://northcountysun.com/category/coupons/. Not valid with other offers or specials. Must present coupon. Rosati’s Pizza is located at 337 N. El Camino Real, Encinitas 92024. They offer local delivery and catering. Call ahead 760-452-2007.

Pelly’s is the “Local’s Choice” and one of the original fresh fish markets in Coastal North County. Located just steps from Carlsbad State Beach, and after being closed for an 8-month renovation due to a kitchen fire, Pelly’s is a newly remodeled restaurant with all new kitchen, fresh fish display cases, and dining room with comfortable chairs. Pelly’s still has their same wonderful menu but with some exciting and delicious editions, including delicious fish and chips, shrimp and chips, poke bowls, and draft beer and wine! Try their new fried combo plate with fish and chips, a crabcake and fried shrimp. It’s truly amazing. Enjoy char-grilled fish plates, a huge fresh fish selection, or customize a seafood platter for a party or barbecue. Their food is simply delicious and their fresh fish market is always stocked with your favorites, including local catch. It’s the perfect place for a late breakfast, lunch, or dinner, and the perfect choice

for the freshest fish and people watching. Located in the Poinsettia Village Shopping Center, you’ll enjoy some of the freshest and tastiest char-grilled fish sandwiches, plates, or salads in San Diego. Located near California State University San Marcos, it is very popular with college students and faculty, residents, local business people, and everyone who loves great sushi at reasonable prices. Their sushi is high quality, and the service is absolutely outstanding. We eat here about three times a month. The service is usually fast. Daily News Café

Whether you are a Carlsbad Village local, or someone visiting for the first time, you’ll understand why the Daily News Café is one of our all time favorites! This historic restaurant is a North County destination and has been serving the community since 1990. This year they are celebrating their 29th anniversary in downtown Carlsbad Village. This is the place to go to enjoy an American classic breakfast or an ice-cold craft beer with a delicious sandwich and salad for lunch. Most of their staff and cooks have been working there for years and have become local celebrities. Waitress Deena Vongxay has been serving happy customers for 27 years. The longevity of the staff, as well as the great food and service, are the reasons for the popularity of this downtown village bistro. Enjoy homemade comfort breakfasts and lunches, inside or outside on the beautiful patio and taking in the sunshine and fresh ocean air. Four times a year, retired Marine officers who flew A-4 Skyhawks, during the Vietnam war (and after), gather to meet at their favorite

breakfast place in Carlsbad. These Marine Vets come from near and far to meet at the Daily News Café. Just steps from Carlsbad Beach, with a picturesque view of the Carlsbad sign on highway 101, breakfast is served all day every day, and lunch is served from 11am to 4pm. Their very popular menu includes Bloody Marys and Mimosas and a wide assortment of omelets from $8.95. All omelets come with hash browns, sautéed red potatoes, fresh fruit or refried beans and your choice of toast, biscuit, or blueberry muffin. Other breakfast favorites include Eggs Benedict, Huevos Rancheros, and a Breakfast Burrito. Try their Belgian Waffles, Buttermilk Pancakes, French Toast, and wide assortment of Crepes. Lunch includes a 1/3 pound Belly Bomber Burgers, Chicken Sandwiches and many other sandwich and salad options. We love their Half Sandwich and Soup combo and recommend their Chicken Salad Sandwich served with any of their delicious seasonal soups. Daily News Café is located at 3001 Carlsbad Blvd, Carlsbad 92008. They are open daily from 6:30am to 4pm.

Dining, Sipping, and Drinking Patron–Tortilleria and Carniceria

We want everyone in San Marcos and nearby communities to know where to find the best authentic Mexican fresh-made-daily tacos ($.99); hot, fresh, handmade daily tortillas (10 for $2.99); and Carne Asada combo plates for $6.99. On a hot summer day try their fresh-made-daily Aguas Frescas! Aguas Frescas is really popular in Southern California. Aguas Frescas is fresh squeezed and blended fresh fruit mixed with water and ice. Patron serves very large 32 oz. cups for only $2.99. It’s a large serving, and an amazing deal. It comes in many delicious fresh fruit combinations, like pineapple and orange, watermelon, papaya, and kiwi. Our favorite has all kinds of mixed fruit in it, including apples. You can see lots of freshly chopped fruit chunks mixed with blended juice. It’s really delicious. Locals go to Patron and get freshly made, piping hot tortillas every day around 4-6pm. Why buy department store tortillas when you can get fresh, hot tortillas? And, why pay more for tacos when you can get authentic street tacos (custom made) for under a dollar? All tacos are made to order!

If you’re staying at the Marriott Fairfield Inn on San Marcos Blvd, or if you’re a student at Palomar College or CSUSM, or if you live in San Elijo Hills or nearby, and you want authentic Mexican food, try eating and shopping where Mexican-Americans go. Patron has an assortment of guacamole and salsa that is made fresh daily; Mexican cheeses and canned goods; fresh fruits and vegetables, including locally-grown tomatoes, avocados, lemons and papayas; and their own butcher shop, with chicken, beef, goat, and pork. This is the place to buy Carne Asada for your summertime BBQ party! Every morning, Patron customers pick up delicious, hot tamales, and in the afternoon—piping hot, hand-made tortillas. Patron custom-makes their tacos. For your taco meat, we recommend Birria, a flavorful beef or goat stewed meat, or their chicken mole. Top off your taco with red or green salsa, Mexican avocado sauce, cheese, onions, and fresh sliced lime. They often sell-out of tamales and tortillas; so get there early! Patron is located at 204 W. San Marcos Blvd., San Marcos 92078. Call (760) 736-0086.

En Fuego was established twenty-three years ago in Del Mar Village. Originally La Tienda restaurant, circa 1930, hosted race track elites and Hollywood stars such as Bing Crosby and Pat O’Brien. With vast patio seating, this venue is draped with green foliage and features a rustic wine bar, several intimate dining areas, and a downstairs patio bar where award-winning Margaritas are served 7- days a week during Happy Hour from 4:30- 6:30pm. Book your Father’s Day lunch or dinner before the best seats are taken!

Try their Chile Rellanos with cheese, shredded chicken, carnitas or seafood. Their Tamales are a local favorite $10-$12, and so is their Del Mar Burrito $11-$12. Weekend Brunch is served Saturdays and Sundays until 2pm. En Fuego is open Monday–Sunday from 11:30am –11:30pm (hours may vary) and features different specials through the week: e.g. Taco Tuesday, which has become one of the most popular in San Diego (4:30pm-8:30 every Tuesday); and Wine Wednesday, with live music by Michael Tiernan, beginning at 7pm (check calendar). The patio is a great retreat to enjoy wonderful Mexican food or world-class premium drinks anytime and especially during racing season. Whether it’s lunch, dinner, live music, or drinks, En Fuego is always ready to welcome you! En Fuego Cantina and Grill is located at 1342 Camino Del Mar, Del Mar CA, 92014. For three generations, Tony’s Jacal has been serving family specialties, like their famous chile relleno, turkey tacos,

turkey enchiladas, flautas and shrimp burritos. We recommend their very special turkey tamales with a wonderful mole sauce made with black Pasilla Chiles, which you can order off the menu all-year-round. Bruegger’s Bagels is open every day of the year. Pick up a dozen bagels and cream cheese and coffee and treat dad to breakfast on Father’s Day! There’s nothing better than eating piping hot bagels right out of the oven. Try a Bruegger’s Turkey Sandwich on a hotfrom-the-oven Jalapeno and cheese or onion bagel. Or start your day with one of their classic breakfast sandwiches with a poached egg and your choice of peppered bacon, ham, sausage or turkey sausage on a hot fresh bagel. We recommend their Western Bagel sandwich with egg, bacon, cheddar, chipotle sauce, green pepper, red pepper, and red onion on a fresh hot bagel. Of course, our all-time favorite is their classic Smoked Salmon and Cream Cheese, stacked high on a fresh bagel with sliced tomato, red onions and capers. During the summer try one of their delicious French toast bagels, with cream cheese. In addition to their famous bagels, breakfast sandwiches and

bagel sandwiches, Bruegger’s also offers a healthier “Under 500 Calorie” menu. If you are a calorie counter, try one of their Skinny Bagels. Guests can now order any of Bruegger’s 15-plus varieties “skinny,” due to Bruegger’s unique slicing process. Instead of changing the recipe of its time-tested, New York-style bagel, Bruegger’s slices the bagels thinner using a process that removes approximately one-third of the bagel’s center but preserves its unique eggshell crust and delicious toppings. The result is a lower calorie bagel without sacrificing variety or taste. Bruegger’s operates 300 bakeries in North America with 8 bakeries in San Diego. You can find a Bruegger’s Bagels in North County at 7680 El Camino Real, Carlsbad 92009, or at 10625 Scripps Poway Parkway in Poway. The Celebration begins with the opening Samoan Church Choir Service at the Melba Bishop Recreation Center on Sunday, June 30, from 3 to 5pm, followed by various youth sports clinics such as rugby, basketball, volleyball, and Cupstack. There will be music and cultural arts on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, July 1-3, from 5pm to 8:30pm, also at the Melba Bishop Rec Center. The Recreation Center is located at 5306 North River Road in Oceanside. The celebration features traditional dancing, live music

and performances, cultural competitions, food and local vendors on July 6, from 12 to 8pm, at its new location at 300 Coast Highway and Pierview Way, near the Oceanside Library. This is where spectators will enjoy watching Polynesian performances including traditional singing and dancing, fire knife, Samoan sivas and indulge in island cuisine. Cultural performances begin at 2:30pm. There is open seating on a first-come basis. The festival has arts and craft booths, island themed clothing, lava lava, and refreshments. The event is free and open to the public. A very special feature and new addition to this year’s celebration is the “Stack To The Future” Cupstack challenge and celebration, in the Junior Seau Beach Community Center, Saturday and Sunday, 11-3 on Saturday, and Sunday 12-4pm. Oceanside is the birthplace of Cupstack, invented by Wayne Godinet. Oceanside’s world record holder Matt “Attack” Adame (90’s) and others will challenge today’s fastest stackers from around the world, including Australian Champion, Molly Hallam, 19, the most traveled stacker in the world. The Samoan Cultural Celebration is presented by the Oceanside Samoan Cultural Committee, an organized group of volunteers dedicated to highlighting the best of American and Samoan culture. Events are open to the public. For more information, visit www.visitoceanside.org or call (760) 458-2614 or contact the Melba Bishop Recreation Center at (760) 435-5550.

Kindergarten, Transitional Kindergarten, Pre-Kindergarten Parents of four and five year old children are faced with important decisions in the coming months about Kindergarten, Transitional Kindergarten, and Pre-Kindergarten. It can be confusing about age requirements and purpose. Transitional Kindergarten programs are offered by a limited number of public and private schools for children not yet eligible for Kindergarten. The purpose of Transitional Early Entry Kindergarten is to provide students with an academic foundation and the social skills necessary for success in Kindergarten. Typically, children must be five years of age by December 1. Pre-Kindergarten or (Kindergarten Preparatory) programs are designed for four and five year old children. Programs and curriculum vary widely. For children not yet ready for a comprehensive academic Kindergarten program, look for a Pre-Kindergarten pro-

gram with an engaging early literacy based curriculum to foster and enhance learning and social skills. For children ready for a more academic approach, consider a comprehensive Transitional Early Entry Kindergarten program. La Costa Valley Preschool & Kindergarten, has been successfully offering Nationally Accredited Pre-Kindergarten, Transitional Kindergarten, and Kindergarten programs since 1991. Their State Department of Education private school’s Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten enrollment eligibility is based upon a student’s demonstrated developmental and academic readiness skills. Now is the time to begin exploring programs and options. If you begin the process now, you may find it is a good adventure and you won’t feel pressed when making this important decision for your child’s social and academic success. For more information, contact La Costa Valley Preschool and Kindergarten at 760-436-2797, or visit www. lacostavalleypreschool.com.

Home Seller Advisory #2 Home Seller Advisory #2: Beware of the “Universal Phone Call” that goes something like this; “Hello, I have a buyer interested in buying your home, are you interested in selling?” Truth is very few of these solicitation calls have a specific buyer. If you answer yes to their question, then simply ask them to put their buyer’s name on a “single party” listing agreement, so your obligation is only to pay a reduced commission if that specific buyer buys your home, with no other contractual obligations. Buyer’s broker commission is normally 2.5% . . . or if you find a buyer for your unlisted home, I can handle all the paperwork for 1% of sales price. This advisory to sellers is provided as a courtesy by David Boe, owner and broker of Boe Real Estate, offering 35 years broker experience and selling over 1,000 homes. David Boe offers 1% listing commissions to sellers and 1% rebates to buyers. Call David Boe at 760.846.0486 or visit, DavidBoe.com. CA DRE 00672393.

ASA Entertainment’s Super Girl Surf Pro celebrates its 12th year at the Oceanside Pier in Oceanside. Admission to the event is free. That’s just one of the things that makes this all-women’s contest so unique within competitive surfing.” Some of the world-class surfers expected to compete include 3-time World Champion Carissa Moore, current #1 ranked Caroline Marks, former Super Girl champions Lakey Peterson, Tatiana Weston-Webb, Malia Manuel, Sage Erickson, Coco Ho, and Courtney Conlogue and star

The whole festival around the event gets bigger each year, and the crowds are huge. It’s amazing to see how many incredible things are going on at the event beyond women’s surfing that all speak to the female empowerment theme. It’s my favorite event of the year!” In addition to the best surfing in the world, the event features an action-packed Festival Village with 20 live concerts, the only female-driven multi-title eSports tournament in the U.S., an all-female DJ contest, a women’s skateboarding competition, fitness and dance classes, yoga, speakers, autographs, hair and beauty styling, a Celebrity Surf Invitational, 40 vendor booths, and many other activities. 66th Annual World Championship OverThe-Line Tournament July 13-14 and 20-21 This summer, the Old Mission Beach Athletic Club celebrates 66 years of hosting the Over-The-Line (OTL) Tournament. The tournament attracts an international crowd of participants and spectators to Mission Bay Park’s Fiesta Island. It takes place over two weekends from July 13 to 14 and July 20 to 21. Tournament play begins at 7:30am each day and continues until sunset. Over-The-Line participants compete in a softball-like bat and ball sport. Three-player teams are encouraged to create unique and unusual names for their teams and many participate while wearing wild costumes. The court is made of a rope triangle in the sand. Hits are made when a ball is hit into fair territory on the fly without being caught by fielders, when any ball is touched and dropped by fielders, or when fielders cross “the line” or any of its extensions when attempting to catch a ball. Three hits in an inning scores one run, while each additional hit in that same inning scores one more run, and a home run “clears the bases.” On the first weekend of play, teams compete in three-inning games. On the second weekend of play, teams participate in four-inning games. The Over-The-Line Tournament is a free public event, but it is not appropriate for children, due to language. There are several stands to purchase hot food and cold non-alcoholic drinks. Parking is available adjacent to the playing area and at the northeast corner of Sea World Drive and Pacific Highway. Free shuttle buses are provided for convenience. Fiesta Island is located at 1590 East Mission Bay Drive, San Diego. For more information, visit www.ombac.org.

The Crossings at Carlsbad Nestled in a natural habitat on more than 400 acres of Carlsbad’s coastal terrain, The Crossings at Carlsbad opened in 2007 and remains one of the priciest municipal golf courses ever built with a price tag of more than $70 million. Built on a hilly terrain with gorges and multiple bridge crossings — hence the name “The Crossings” — this 18-hole championship municipal golf course and event facility offers visitors a magnificent setting in a relaxed California coastal environment. The course’s five bridges were designed to meet existing environmental and topographic conditions. This is not a beginner’s par-3, but a challenging 18-hole championship golf

course, designed by Greg Nash and featuring stunning panoramic views. The clubhouse is completely equipped with a starters desk, apparel and golf equipment boutique. There is also an adjoining bar with HD TVs, an outdoor patio with golf course and ocean views, and a restaurant called The Canyons. The Canyons hosts Friday Unwind, from 5:30 to 7:30pm on Fridays, featuring live music on the patio. There is also a Sunday brunch buffet with bottomless mimosas and a lively happy hour with food and drink specials, including $5 well cocktails, draft beer and wine. Happy hour is from 3 to 6pm Sunday through Thursday. The Crossings at Carlsbad is located at 5800 The Crossings Drive, Carlsbad.
