Kia ora, My name is Leo Palmer and I am humbled to be the Head Boy at Whanga-rei Boys’ High School for 2021. With our school rebuild on track to be completed at the end of this year, I feel honoured to lead the last team of senior prefects in the current school. I am from a beautiful place on Northland’s east coast called Whananaki and I love representing my whanau and iwi Ngati wai with pride. My passion is rugby and this will be my second year in our schools 1st XV. Next year I hope to study teaching or psychology at Auckland University. I have chosen the subjects of Biology, English, Health, Physical Education Development and Psychology to help me achieve my aspirations. I, along with my team of senior prefects, are excited for the many blessings to come in 2021.

Hugo Davidson Deputy Head Boy Tena koutou katoa, Ko Mahanga Mitchell toku ingoa. I have the great opportunity to lead alongside my fellow Prefects as a Deputy Head Boy of WBHS. Hailing from the beautiful Hokianga located on the wicked west coast, I grew up loving my culture. Participation in ma-ori cultural activities is a must for me. I love performing arts and I wish to pursue drama and attend Toi Whakaari once my time ends at WBHS with the hope of becoming a professional actor. This year I chose to study Drama, Senior Maori Arts, Outdoor education, English and Mathematics. I want to hone my leadership skills as a Deputy Head Boy and look to create positive change in our kura working alongside my fellow Prefects. He waka eke noa!

Kia ora, Ever since I can remember I have looked up to the impressive Prefects at Whanga-rei Boys’ High School and the hard mahi they put in - which I hope to carry on and improve their legacy. With the help of my fellow Whanau captain Kaden Donaldson I hope to lead the Bledisloe Whanau to a successful year, as well as improving my own leadership skills. I have enjoyed living in Whanga-rei most of my life. I always strive to “use every opportunity that comes your way”. This year I hope to endorse Level 3 with Excellence for the third year in row. I also hope to lead the WBHS sailing team to a successful regatta at nationals. Along with sailing, I enjoy a variety of different sports such as squash, surfing, soccer and snowboarding. For the last three years I have also been tutoring younger kids with maths. I am grateful for all the opportunities that I have been given and will continue to use them to help others and myself as much as I can.
