AN ANNUAL CELEBRATION OF WINTER IN THE NICOLET NATIONAL FOREST WITH WISCONSIN OVERLAND
Who answers the call in the middle of winter to brave the snow and freezing temps for a weekend of camping and trail riding? About forty cabinfeverish folks from Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa and Illinois ready to meet up with old friends and make new ones during Wisconsin Overland’s annual Snoverland event.
On Saturday we met the daytrippers at Wolf River Roots for a driver’s meeting. We split into three groups for the trail rides, and were treated to the most magical all-day long snowfall. That on top of the snow that had fallen earlier in the week made for some epic powder conditions This is the type of snow we crave, a deep, fluffy blanket that covers all of nature in a calm, quiet blanket of white

“Because of how we are organized, we are not focused on driving maximum profit to maximize shareholder value. We are focused on producing quality product and on customer support.” Chad Kulig
Another installment of an occasional series about businesses in the off road and overland industries
We asked the staff at All Dogs Offroad Co-op to answer a few questions to help our readers get to know them better.
What sets your custom lift kits, wheel packages, and accessories apart in the off-road marketplace?
As an organization, we try to keep as much manufacture of ADO product in the USA as feasibly possible. All of our springs are made in the USA. Many companies send manufacture overseas to increase profit We only offshore when we cannot find a domestic manufacturer to produce the products we require within a reasonable price point
How do you ensure the products you offer meet the needs of both seasoned and beginner off-road enthusiasts?
We spend as much time as we can discussing with the enduser to make sure that they are building for their specific usecase.
Can you share an example of how your offerings have helped a member or customer find their adventure?
It would be a challenge to pick out a single example. We see guys and gals hitting the trails all over the place and it makes us incredibly happy
Can you explain the importance of being structured as a Limited Cooperative Association (LCA) and how this benefits your members?
Most businesses are organized as a corporation, LLC, or soleproprietorship Generally speaking, in a corporation / LLC / sole-proprietorship the amount of shares you hold dictates the amount of influence or ownership you have over the organization. For instance, if the organization has 100 shares and you hold 51 of those shares, you have a controlling interest in the governance of the organization Also, when the organization generates a profit and disburses it to ownership, you receive an amount relative to the shares that you hold
ADO is different in that we are organized as a cooperative In a cooperative, you can only hold one share that you receive when you purchase membership Your share is equal to all other members. From a perspective of governance, a cooperative is akin to a democracy When a cooperative generates a profit, it generally gets distributed back to membership in the form of a patron dividend and/or reinvests the profit back into the business in the form of R&D and new product development
What inspired the mission to support both people and their pets in the off-road community?
We feel that organizing and operating as a cooperative strongly resonates with individuals that enjoy outdoor recreation and our own philosophies on how a business should be run We also love dogs (and cats) lol
How does All Dogs Offroad balance offering high-quality products with being a cooperative, non-profit-seeking organization?
The two go hand-in-hand Because of how we are organized, we are not focused on driving maximum profit to maximise shareholder-value We are focused on producing quality product and on customer support.
How do you foster an inclusive community among your members and the broader off-road audience?
We all start out in any activity as newbies and in the growing offroad / overland industry there are a lot of beginners that are just getting started in the hobby. We try to lead by examplewe offer guidance and patience as individuals look to learn about offroading. We hope that this inspires the individuals we work with to do the same as they encounter and interact with new users.
What role do pets play in building connections within the off-road community?
They are the absolute best They break down mental and physical barriers that isolate us from one another. We can all attest to the number of friends we’ve made by simply starting a conversation with “Omg, your dog is so cute”. .
Can you highlight a cause or nonprofit you’ve supported that reflects your members' vision?
We are a highest-level sponsor to our local humane society in Lincoln, NE Shoutout to Capital Humane Society!
What motivated All Dogs Offroad to participate in KOAR and Overland the Red as vendors?
We are huge fans of Northology Adventures and believe their mission philosophically lines up with ours We deeply appreciate the opportunity to be present and participate in these events.
How do events like KOAR and OTR align with your mission and cooperative values?
We do not attend events to sell product, we attend to participate and make new friends Smaller events are far more intimate and relaxed, and we strongly prefer this It’s all about building community
What do you hope attendees take away from interacting with your team and products at these events?
We hope that everybody is able to have fun and have an enjoyable experience. We also hope that they take a sticker or two!
Can you share a memorable experience from a past KOAR or OTR event that exemplifies the spirit of All Dogs Offroad?
KOAR 2024 was my first time visiting the UP and it was downright amazing The event was incredibly well organized and it’s always a pleasure getting to hang out with Cindy!
What’s next for All Dogs Offroad in terms of products, services, or community engagement?
We’re tirelessly working on all of these things We have new product in the pipeline for full size domestic trucks, the new Tacoma / Land Cruiser / 4Runner, etc. We’ll also be launching our softroading line of springs for crossovers We’re taking on more installs in our shop, and we’re trying our hardest to have a presence at more events this year!
How can individuals interested in off-road exploration and pet-friendly adventures get involved with your cooperative? Reach out anytime! Become a member!

Being in Alaska is a once in a lifetime experience that offers stunning landscapes and abundant wildlife However this wonderland has rough edges and 'thornes' as you can find yourself in a rugged environment and unpredictable weather that can quickly turn into a survival situation very quickly. Here are some essential tips that we picked up on our journey from Alaska that will help ensure you a safe and enjoyable trip!
Alaskas weather can change rapidly and without warning even in summer months Be ready for rain, wind and even snow depending on how far north you are or how high in elevation you are! Pack waterproof gear, insulated sleeping bags...even in summer. Lots of layers and extra boots!
Store dry foods in 'bear-proof' containers and do not cook where you plan to set up camp to sleep. Never leave smelly food in your tent Carry bear spray and know how to use it! Make noise while hiking
Many remote villages do not have gas stations/grocery stores that stay open past 5pm or earlier Depending on your routes, plan out gas station routes and make sure that they are even still in service! There were many places we thought were still operational as google had stated but were in fact NOT! Bring extra fuel cans and keep them filled at all times! You never know when you might need them or even to lend a helping hand! Having extra food like dried food as well just in case you end up with vehicle trouble or even inclement weather leaves you stuck, you'll have an extra stash We ran into a situation where one of the kids ended up sick from motion sickness
Certain areas in Alaska the mosquitos can be horrendous No amount of bug spray or thermocells can put a dent in them. Pack long sleeves and pants, the waterproof gear wil ensure they cannot bite you through your clothes Even a head net that secures around your shoulders is essential!
In summertime you will want either a sleep mask or a blackout tent In winter time make sure to have plenty of back up flashlights, headlamps or any light source and be aware that in cold temperatures, battery life is significantly diminished.
There are many other animals to look out for other than bears Ek, Moose and wolves are even more common to see than bears in certain areas Keep a safe distance. Never feed them.
Alaskas wilderness is pristine! Let's keep ti that way for future generations! We came across many camp areas that were littered with garbage and waste We took extra time to clean up things we could however broken glass creates quite a hazard especially with pets along and kids so be aware of the ground too! Bring 'claws' to grab trash, even rubber gloves Pack out what you pack in, even food waste, no need for animals to start coming into camp! Stay on established trails and campsites
Some trails wil require river or stream crossings Depending on the time of day and time of the year will determine whether water crossing will be higher than normal. Always check water depth where it is questionable! Never assume a river is crossable! Unbuckle your backpack if crossing on foot and use stability poles Unbuckle seatbelt if crossing in a vehicle in case you need to get out quickly
also the busiest and full of mosquitoes
Fall- September And October- Fewer crowds and no mosquitoes but much colder temperatures Winter- November Through March- Ideal for experienced campers with correct gear.
Spring- April And May- Still cold in many areas with lots of snow and wildlife starts to become more active
Never camp too close to water sources as water may rise overnight Avoid cliff sides for overnight as wind will always change direction, unless you are willing to leave in the middle of the night.
Overlanding in Alaska is an adventure like no other! Being prepared for anything nature or life will throw at you will not only ensure your safety of you and your traveling partners but will ensure you have the best experience The Last Frontier has to offer!
Are You Ready? Are you planning a trip to Alaska? Let us know and we will be happy to answer questions and share locations! Team Work Makes The Dream Work!

Did I ever think I would live in Alaska? No. Have I taken advantage of it? Not even close There is so much to see and it is so overwhelming Because Alaska is just right out my front and back door, so I feel like I haven’t done much Then I start thinking about of all of the stuff I have done so far dog sledding, sat front seat in a bush plane as we flew over a glacier, saw whales bubble hunt, looked a brown bear in the eye before she ran off, rode a horse on a beach, helped guide a group of influencers and BFG people for the KO3 tire launch, all in the first year and half of being here Its been crazy!
have found several once in a life time camping spots. These are spots you talk about the rest of your life. Spots where you just stand there looking, mouth open but then a misquote flies in and you are reminded about the state bird, yucky
I remember when I landed in Anchorage and Craig from Alaska Overlander picked me up and drove me to the my truck. Alaska felt like a foreign country, familiar but different at the same time I felt like any wrong turn would be my last and we would run out of gas and get eaten by bears I know unfounded, until you hear about how many people go missing every year! Don’t worry about that, Alaska is amazing
Be a little louder at camp, its ok. It’s Alaska, it’s better to be heard Think of it like hiking, you make noise while hiking to keep animals away I’m not saying be annoying just be heard, it’s ok The biggest fear is moose, bear will avoid you as much as possilbe, moose just don’t care I say that but I am pretty sure Bigfoot was watching me during my first solo camp here in Alaska. Peeping tom, what a weirdo just watching from the bushes Unless it says you cannot camp there, you can It is still hard for me to truly wrap my brain around it, and you will know what I mean when you get here Strange turn offs, yep
You can drive down most roads unless it says not too, sounds straight forward until you come up to a pipeline road But yes, you can, unless it says you cannot, well that’s the way it was explained to me
Have your camera ready all of the time. Moose, bears, porcupines, and sea planes can jump out at any time, anywhere There are so many opportunities for photographers it just never stops From season changing landscapes to the unique festivals scattered all over the state, Fourth of July car launch. Which might have ended last year, call your senator today because if so this wrong must be righted!
It is crazy how much is here, I feel like I have done a ton but still feel like I haven’t even done much because it is so big here! I have driven multiple of states since I’ve been here. The Kenai Peninsula is over half the size of Oklahoma. I drive 45 minutes to work, and that’s nothing When I say Alaska is big, from my house too Fairbanks is like driving through three states, its a 10 hour drive
Alaska has been amazing. I finally feel settled in now. The truck is dialed in Spring is around the corner Everything is set and ready Follow me on social media, reach out, let me know when you are in the area!

I’m Jake Groteboer.
I am the founder of the Minnesota Adventure Trails This project was inspired by my lifelong passion for exploration and the outdoors I grew up just outside Rochester, MN, and spent much of my childhood riding dirtbikes and ATVs through the rugged landscapes of the Driftless Region During the pandemic, with Minnesota in lockdown, I had extra time
on my hands, so I set out to explore the backroads of my home state, recording my journeys with a handheld Garmin GPS In 2023, after years of recording and mapping, I was able to release the Southeastern MN ADV Trail (SEMAT), and the response was amazing To my surprise, the trail took off and that led to launching two more trails the Northeastern MN ADV Trail (NEMAT) and the North-Central MN ADV Trail (NCMAT) Each trail is a reflection of my love for the state’s hidden gems, and I’m excited to share these adventures with others who enjoy exploring the great outdoors
Road surface types:
Fire roads, logging roads, two track, and gravel
Length: 1000 mile loop
Suitable Vehicles: AWD vehicles Dualsport/ADV motorcycle
About the Northeastern MN Adv Trail (NEMAT) The NEMAT is a 1000 mile off-road adventure through the most beautiful areas of northern Minnesota The route consists of gravel, forest roads, 2 track and rural pavement The main goal of the route is to showcase the beauty of Minnesota when you get off the main highways and off into the remote wilderness. The GPX file has points of interest, gas, food, and campground all saved as waypoints so that you don’t miss anything important The route can be completed in any Highway legal 4wd vehicle or any street legal adventure/dual sport bike. Nothing is needed to complete the route other than a license plate, but we recommend a state park pass to take advantage of the many you’ll pass along the journey So far the route has had a very positive effect on the small towns and remote business along the way All info regarding the route can be found at https://minnesotaadventuretrails com
Road surface types:
gravel, logging roads, and minimum maintenance
Length: 400 mile loop
Suitable Vehicles: AWD vehicles Dualsport/ADV motorcycle
