Headteachers and School Business Leaders Spring Term Briefings The Education Space

This term’s Headteacher and School Business Leaders briefings took place on the 12th and 13th February respectively. Once again we had a fantastic turn out at both events and would like to thank all those who attended and contributed. Both sessions provided an employment law update from our very own Tom Alexander, we also had a financial update on NPW from Iqbal Vaza, along with a governance and health & safety updates. We were also really pleased to present our new partner, SupplyNow, to our School Business Leaders briefing. The SupplyNow app creates a direct connection between schools and supply staff - or as SupplyNow like to call them, Supply Heroes. Upon registration, Supply Heroes set the job types they’re looking for and distances they’re prepared to travel. Schools can then create job alerts, which go directly to

candidates who have matching requirements, and they either accept or decline - it’s really that simple! You may notice, there is no mention of a recruiter. This is just one of the ways they’re able to cut down on costs, although they do have a fantastic Supply Support Team on hand if you need them. SupplyNow do not take a commission and only charge a 13% fee (compared with 40% for a traditional teaching agency). They are committed to paying supply staff up to 20% more and saving schools as much as 20% on their budget spend! SupplyNow are currently running an NPW schools special offer, to kick start our partnership. If you are an NPW member you

can receive five fee-free days as long as you register and use the service within the next six months. Every school will also receive a free personal and face to face on-boarding and training meeting to ensure you get the best out of the service. In addition, you can add any existing supply staff to the system and receive a 50% reduction in fees. To register go to: https://app.supplynow.co.uk/schoolregistration After listening to the feedback from our members we will be sending out the next 3 terms’ worth of dates for the briefings within the coming week to ensure as many of you can come as possible. The next dates are as follows: Headteachers Briefing – 17th June 2020 SBL Briefing – 18th June 2020 You should have received the FAQs from the event earlier this week if you were in attendance. Cumberland Pupil Preparing for His Future Sabri The Cumberland School

Sabri joined The Education Space from Cumberland school for a week of work experience and he very kindly agreed to write an article about the time he spent with us. The Education Space would like to thank Sabri for his hard work throughout the week. a whole company update on the progression over the past 12 months. One of my favourite experiences was with the Training/Sales team. This is because I was able to create marketing materials in order to help sell the training sessions on offer, it also helped me understand more about the type of work they do.

During my work experience, I learnt many new things; at first, I was not looking forward to work experience. However by the end I had learnt many new skills including, how to do reception duties, storage checks, file papers, completing spreadsheets and sales & marketing.

I managed to gain experience in all departments, SMS team, Postage, Governor Services, Sales, Data protection (GDPR) and Finance.

The office environment and people in The Education Space were very welcoming which helped me to understand what it was like to work in an environment such as this.

I also was invited to attend a whole company briefing, during the briefing the Chief Operations Officer provided

Overall I had a real eye opening experience at The Education Space and I am thankful for it.
