JETHRO:THE COUNT OF CORNWALL SOLD OUT

After successful opera season last year, Russian State Opera are back to delight you with an exquisite production of Madama Butterfly. Set in Japan at the turn of the century, it is the story of a doomed love affair between an American naval officer and his young Japanese bride whose self-sacrifice and defiance of her family leads to tragedy. Sad and tragic it most certainly is, yet the compelling tale of Madama Butterfly remained Puccini’s favourite opera. This touching tale of innocent love crushed between two utterly different cultures resonates as strongly as ever in today’s world.

THE BLUES BAND

G4 LIVE 2018

2018 sees Paul Jones, Dave Kelly, Tom McGuinness, Rob Townsend and Gary Fletcher celebrate their 39th year together as The Blues Band.

The UK’s No.1 classical vocal harmony quartet are back.

Many of The Blues Band’s 21st century fans weren’t even born when these five virtuosos, already music industry veterans, decided to fly in the face of musical fashion in 1979 and form a band ‘just to play the blues’.

Having exploded into the industry and the public’s hearts back in 2004 on the first series of The X Factor, G4 continue to blow people away, year after year, with their unique style and impactful harmonic vocals.

No one could have predicted that, 39 years on, they’d still be dazzling audiences with their showmanship and virtuosity. About 20 albums and thousands of gigs later, they’ve earned a reputation around the world as one of the finest exponents of the blues tradition in all its forms. With this line-up, it’s hardly surprising.

In 1951 the landscape of British comedy changed dramatically when The Goon Show burst onto the airwaves of the BBC Home Service. Spike Milligan, Peter Sellers, Harry Secombe and co. brought a brand of surreal chaotic humour unlike anything that had been heard before and revolutionised the way radio comedy was produced. With its bizarre characters, fantastical plots and hilarious running jokes, The Goon Show captured the imagination of the British public and made household names of its three main stars, all of whom would go on to achieve fame across the globe. Apollo Theatre Company and Spike Milligan Productions are proud to team up to celebrate Spike’s centenary year by bringing this timeless comedy classic to the stage in the first major theatrical production of the show in its illustrious history.

DYLAN MORAN: DR COSMOS

THE FILM, A Q&A AND SPECIAL LIVE PERFORMANCE

BAFTA and Perrier Award-winning comedian Dylan Moran embarks on his brand-new tour, Dr Cosmos. Moran will offer his unique take on love, politics, misery and the everyday absurdities of life, all served with poetical panache from one of the finest comedians of his generation.

A very special evening with award-winning singer songwriter Hazel O’Connor, featuring a rare screening of the digitally re-mastered uncut version of the film followed by an intimate Q&A and live performance of some of the film’s best loved songs. Meet and greet available.

Moran has been called the Oscar Wilde of comedy and his famed style - deadpan, witty and crackpot lyricism - promises to be an unmissable journey through his interpretations of the world, swerving cliché to offer a cutting blow to our idiosyncrasies. Dylan Moran said: “It’s dinner time in the monkey house, and I’ve got the spoon.”

“High-octane riffs from Irish master of grumpiness…spellbinding.”
