MADNESS 2021 31 Full-on Years of Madness Welcome back to Part 2 of our coverage of this awesome event! It is no wonder this has been going for thirty-one years now, it’s such an awesome extended weekend! From cruising to show n’ shines, then onto retro fashion pageants and burnouts! Now if all that doesn’t keep you busy enough, there are live bands, trade stalls, kids rides, heaps of food venders and all sorts of goodies for sale to dress up the cave and wander around checking out! Saturday is the big day here when everything cranks up around ten notches and fully gets rocking! The gates of the Rangiora Domain open for the public to roll on in and check out all the cars on show in the centre arena plus all the
other entertainment that’s going on. At a guess there would be around thirteen hundred cars to wander around so it’s a big day just for the show n’ shine itself. Live bands are cranking away on the main stage until around midday when the retro rockabilly pageant starts. This is such a growing attraction at car shows now with heaps of entrants. This year they covered all sorts of categories from kids to teens then the men and ladies stepping out onto the catwalk in full retro attire just like the good ole rock n’ roll days. Straight after this is the bogans turn for full-on V8 screaming entertainment! The gate to the burnout pad gets swung open and she’s all go! You know it’s going to be good when you see the huge crowd surrounding the pad fence right to the top of the banks and then onto the top
of trucks and trees! Another live band is playing to entertain the waiting crowd before it all goes silent apart from the murmur of the crowd. The grumbling sound of open headers on a lumpy blown V8 breaks that sound and the cheers now start as the first car rolls through the gate and onto the pad. From here on in it’s screaming V8’s, blown tyres, massive smoke plumes and loud as cheering from the crowd as each contender vies for the Burnout Champion trophy of Muscle Car Madness. There were a fair-few contenders for this again this year too so the afternoon soon flew past pretty quick at the pad with all this entertainment going on. Back into the showgrounds, black from tyre smoke, it was all go with everyone starting to cruise the perimeter track again and resume the party that Muscle
