What floor colours are trendy nowadays? Decoration magazines are general trendsetters, and for three consecutive years we witness domination of grey, stone and neutral colours. However, all depends on a personal taste of the client, how the house is decorated, etc. What are your projects this year? We are doing the Atalaya school in Estepona, the Architectural school in Granada, a sports complex in Madrid and we’re currently collaborating with the Hotel Puente Romano in remodelling of suites. The installation of a platform in the new Dani García restaurant is the project which we have completed recently. What projects would you select as the most significant? Above all we can highlight projects in the Port of Málaga, the Sports Centre in Estepona, Marbella, Sierra Blanca and La Zagaleta, which we’ve carried out in conjunction with the most prestigious architectural studios in the area.

Прежде всего, мы бы отметили проекты, реализованные в Порту г.Малаги, Спортивном Павильоне г.Эстепоны, в г.Марбелье, в Сьерра Бланка и Ла-Загалета при участии одного из самых престижных региональных архитектурных бюро.

Antoni Gaudí Антонио Гауди

Antoni Gaudí (1852-1926) is one of the most popular architects throughout history. The revolution he represented in terms of architecture and plastic arts laid the foundations for contemporary art and the art of tomorrow. Gaudí was born in Catalonia on 25 June 1852, and took to architecture at a young age. His poor health often prevented him from attending classes, forcing him to spend extended stays in the country, immersed in the light of the Mediterranean and surrounded by natural forms, which he would always consider his greatest teacher. He soon developed a distinctive individual style, composing his works with combination of geometric masses and animating the surfaces with patterned brick or stone, bright ceramic tiles and

floral or reptilian metalwork. The salamander in Park Güell is an obvious example of Gaudí’s work. Gaudí’s most important work is the Basilica of the Sagrada Familia, to which he dedicated forty-three years of his life. After 1910, Gaudí abandoned nearly all other projects to focus on the construction of Sagrada Familia, which he had begun in 1883, retreating to live in the workshop. While employing Gaudí’s equilibrated methods, the church would borrow from the cathedral-Gothic and

Art Nouveau styles but present them in a form beyond recognition. Gaudí died while still working on the Sagrada Familia on June 10, 1926, after getting hit by a trolley car in Barcelona. Today, the building remains unfinished, with completion planned for 2026, to mark the 100th anniversary of Gaudi’s death. The Sagrada Familia is currently one of the most visited monuments in Spain and seven of its features have been deemed a part of World Heritage by Unesco.

Benahavís is a mountain village, located 7 km from the coast. It is situated between Marbella, Estepona and Ronda. Although it is called the dining room of the Costa del Sol for its numerous restaurants and bars, Benahavís is one of the typical white villages of Andalusia, boasting an important Arabic past. The Montemayor Castle, built in the 10th century, provides stunning views over the Costa del Sol. the hillside of Sierra de las Nieves, makes Benahavís an authentic natural and tourist treasure. From its hills, 100 kilometres of Spanish and a large part of North African coastline can be seen. Another place worth mentioning is the mountain lake known as the Charca de las Mozas, located next to urban centre of Benahavís. The Regional Government of Andalusia has declared it a “Natural Monument”.

The multidisciplinary team led by the Japanese architect Sou Fujimoto has been chosen to construct the second edition of “Architecture Folie” of the 21st century in Montpellier, France. The surprising proposal called “Arbre Blanc” (White Tree) presented by the Sou Fujimoto team was the winner in this competition. The 17-apartment tower will be mixed use and house offices, dwellings, an art gallery, a restaurant and a panoramic bar. An attractive proposal that will offer a wide range of uses and programmes in its interior, a configuration that will see a fusion of Japanese and Mediterranean cultural roots.

Антонио Мартинес Antonio Martínez was born in Granada en 1975, graduated at the University of Granada School of Architecture and since 2001 has worked from his professional studio in Malaga. He is currently writing a doctoral thesis in Architecture and studying Spanish Language and Literature. This summer he is going to publish his first book of short stories. Do you think that Spain today dominates world architectural culture? Spain has shown examples of the international standing of its architects. Architects such as Moneo, Ábalos, Mangado and Zaera, among others, are winning international competitions and are recognised on an international level.

Which city has most understood the coexistence between architecture and nature? And why? In this respect, there are several ways of understanding this coexistence. A healthy coexistence between architecture and nature are always noticed when green and urban merge, such as New York Central Park, a large separate green area within the city. It allows citizens to access this big park without having to travel to the outskirts of town. Also there is the classic idea of the garden city, where the alliance between the city and nature is most obvious. These days there is a way of respecting nature in a clear and simple manner, and that is through environmental policies. A striking example is the industrial city of Hamburg, which approved

a climate protection programme in 2007, with four hundred points to make it a reality, and an annual investment of 23 million euros to bring it about. This programme for example controls carbon dioxide emissions from public transport and vehicle access to certain areas of the city, etc. What is your vision regarding architecture of the future? Current architecture has entered into a mannerist and exhibitionist spiral, making it difficult for everyone else to understand. Technological directions, structural displays etc. make construction like juggling, machines obsessed with sustainability, but based on machinery and facilities that don’t generate much pollution,

but do generate pollution in their construction process. To give an example, a solar panel is made from components that have been constructed using highly polluting manufacturing processes which make the panels somewhat incongruous. This is all very well explained in a book titled Cradle to cradle. There is a type of architecture that uses passive comfort conditioning systems with more efficient (and not necessarily technological) architectural designs.

We’re currently working on a number of projects in France: a 100 room hotel in Chatourroux; a development with 26 singlefamily homes in Poligny Notre Dame; the refurbishment of the Les Dryades hotel, also in Poligny Notre Dame, and a municipal golf clubhouse that we won through a competition in l’Indre. In Spain we’re carrying out various partial plans in the province of Málaga,

single-family homes in Marbella, Rincón de la Victoria and Málaga, and various industrial projects, also in Málaga. An architect that you admire Rafael Moeno without doubt, both for his projects and his way of thinking, but also others such as Antón García Abril, Fernando Menis and the Portuguese architects Álvaro Siza and Souto de Moura.

В прошлом месяце апреле состоялось торжественное открытие всех работ, проведенных по сооружению ангаров для багги, оборудования, офисов и мастерских Королевского Гольф-Клуба в Гуадальмине (Real Club de Golf de Guadalmina), которые были спроектированы и проводились под руководством архитектурного бюро из г.Марбельи - «Moya Atencia Arquitectos». Команде архитекторов под руководством Хосе Карлоса Мойи (José Carlos Moya) удалось объединить в этом недавно реализованном проекте, созданном по запросу большинства членов Клуба, традиционный образ деревенского андалузского строительства (фермерских хозяйств) и функциональное, практичное и современное внутреннее убранство помещений с возможностью разнообразного использования, как и

предусматривает здание такого рода. И наконец, что касается окружающей среды, были четко достигнуты изначально установленные цели, предполагаемые Руководством Клуба и Техническим персоналом, а также внимательный к деталям дизайн во всем сооружении, задуманном архитекторами проекта и Королевский Гольф-Клуб в Гуадальмине снова оказался в авангарде испанских клубов подобного рода, где в новой инфраструктуре можно выделить следующее: декантаторы химических продуктов, фильтры зеленых отходов, полученных после очистки оборудования, отработанную воду противопожарных устройств и склад фитосанитарных продуктов, согласно наивысшим стандартам безопасности окружающей среды и т.п.

In these new facilities, in great demand by a large number of club members, the team of architects coordinated by José Carlos Moya has managed to combine the traditional and close-knit image of rural buildings in Andalusia (farmhouses), with a functional, practical and modern interior, capable of responding to the complex programming that a building with these characteristics requires. lastly, it is worth pointing out how, regarding the environment, the perfect harmony achieved between the initial requirements demanded by the Club Management and Technical Team, and the careful design of the facilities with which the architects conceived the project, has again situated the Royal Guadalmina Golf Club at the forefront of Spanish clubs in this area, with the following standing out amongst the new infrastructures: chemical product decanters, filters for green waste deriving from the cleaning of machinery; recycled water for fire-protection systems; warehouse for phytosanitary products according to the highest environmental protection standards, etc...

The Pritzker jury has chosen the Japanese architect Shigeru Ban as the 2014 winner of the prestigious prize for his modern architecture. Ban has been a pioneer in his use of recycled materials such as cardboard and paper in humanitarian aid projects. He has achieved high quality designs at very low cost, for the most needy, such as refugees and victims of natural disasters. Since its creation thirty five years ago, the objective of the Pritzker Architecture Prize has been to recognise living architects for their excellence in constructed works as well as for a significant and consistent contribution towards humanity.
