Классическая двухскатная стрельчатая арка (гусек), названная художником Уильямом Хогартом “линией красоты”, появилась в Европе в первой половине XIV века. Эта арка, тесно связанная с венецианской готикой, представляет собой S-образную двойную кривую, образованную соединением вогнутой и выпуклой линий.
The classic ogee arch designated a “line of beauty” by illustrator William Hogarth, began to appear in Europe in the early fourteenth century; closely associated with Venetian Gothic style, consists of a double curve similar to the “S” letter, composed by the union of two lines: one concave and other convex.

Однако в 70-е годы он выпустил уникальную линию мебели, где был отражен его скульптурный подход к моде: футуристические формы в сочетании с традиционным лакированным покрытием, стандартные техники изготовления мебели и революционные космические проекты в металле и пластике. «Мои работы – это не просто художественные произведения, это «Утилитарные скульптуры»». Таков был ответ Пьера Кардена тем, кто называл его дизайнерскую мебель искусством. С 2007 года новым креативным директором коллекции “Утилитарные скульптуры” становится молодой дизайнер Родриго Базиликати, обладающий уникальным и неподражаемым стилем. Новые скульптуры воспроизводят природные линии и формы, их яркие цвета и обрабатываются специальным лаком, что делает их невероятно элегантными. Ателье Пьера Кардена не разделяет концепцию массового производства: каждый предмет изготавливается в небольшом количестве исключительно в Италии. Чтобы удовлетворить все возможные требования частных клиентов, цвет, размеры или отделка могут выполняться по индивидуальному заказу. Доставка – это заключительный акт комплексного и квалифицированного производственного процесса с выдачей сертификата подлинности, где указывается серийный номер, отметки о проверки уникальности и качества каждого предмета. Утилитарная скульптура – это не только мебель, но и инвестиция в произведение искусства, ценность которого будет с годами только расти.

Pierre Cardin, the inventor of “prêt-à-porter” whose graphically iconic initials personify his signature style, is best known for fashion and accessory design. However, during the 1970s, he launched a unique furniture line that transposed his sculptural approach to fashion into furniture design: futuristic forms combined with traditional lacquer and cabinetmaking techniques and revolutionary space-age designs resort to metal and plastics. “Not just art, but my works are Sculpture Utilitaires” Such was a reply by Pierre Cardin on defining his design furniture as works of art. And that is the difference in all Maestros’ works: they are not only artistic expressions so beautiful to look at and discover, but also important for their usefulness.

¨Sculptures Utilitaires¨ are real sculptures with utility added to their decorative function. In fact, sculptures created by Studio Pierre Cardin in the1970s up to today, are genuine quotidian furniture which could find utilities in your home, revealing in the same time their sinuous forms and beauty. “It’s stupid to put interior furniture against a wall. If my furniture is recto-verso, it’s because it can be viewed from all angles. From behind to its front”. This is the concept which is present in the whole creative Pierre Cardin line and makes it unique and inimitable. Their style changed over the years, but ability to surprise and excite remained unchanged over the time. From 2007 the young designer Rodrigo Basilicati becomes the new creative mind of the ¨Sculptures Utilitaires¨ collection, according to his unique and inimitable style. New sculptures reflect the lines and forms of nature, with bright colours and the special lacquering treatments that make them incredibly elegant. Mass production is a concept which is not shared by Pierre Cardin atelier: every piece is only available in limited edition, exclusively manufactured in Italy. Some features (like colours, dimensions or treatments) can be customized on request, in order to satisfy personal customers’ requirements. The delivery is the final act of a complex and skilled production process, sealed with a certificate of authenticity stating the serial number, verification of the uniqueness and quality of each piece. Sculpture Utilitaire is not just furniture, but an investment, just like a piece of art, its value increases over the years. 16 ogeemagazine.com

The white dove of peace and freedom, White is a conciliatory colour. Unsullied, divine, pristine, traditionally the colour of clothing for babies and brides, there is an innocence, delicacy and simplicity to white. A colour that also speaks to modernity and contemporary design white represents new beginnings and our ability to start anew on a blank slate. White light contains all colours so that we think of white as the complete presence of light. True whites are rarely found in nature. A variety of some of newest whites from Pantone: However, while pure white is perceived as brilliant, there is also the association of silence to white. Think of the absolute quiet of a white snowfall. The colour family we correlate with meditation and the expression “quiet calm�, white is a symbol of calming influence in a frenetic society that is rediscovering the value of measured consideration and quiet reflection. A quiet that in our fast paced lives is something we crave and the reason whites are becoming more important. To address the increased importance of whites we have added a grouping of whites in both warm and cool tones into the 210 new colour additions to our PANTONE FASHION, HOME + INTERIORS colour palette. Reminiscent of foams and milky sauces, these natural whites with names like Sea Salt and Buttercream, have a soft quality to them. “The Lord God formed a man from the dust of the earth‌â€? Genesis 2:7 The art of pottery is a recurring process of divine creation. A vessel is created out of solid earth; a mound of clay turns into a piece of art. A bundle takes form and an object is created, useful and beautiful at the same time, as if something is emerging from nothing. There is something in the tactile nature of a pottery vessel that is universally appealing and capable of evoking a feeling or a memory. Ceramics are threedimensional works of art that hold a special place in our hearts. We all have a favourite cup or a platter we always reach for. Besides beautiful ceramics from world renowned factories, such as Royal Worcester (since 1750), Herend (since 1826) and Meissen (since 1708), many people are also excited by studio made pottery. A studio potter is usually a devoted recluse who thrives on happy mistakes and creates individual pieces of art. The world of studio pottery is wildly diverse so there is something for everyone. Ceramics can be commissioned and personalised.

The beauty of owning and collecting unique pieces of studio ceramics, apart from the fact that no-one else has exactly the same item, is that it speaks to you, as a person. So, visiting a local pottery is always a wonderful and informative experience and you come out owning a vessel that says: “This is me; this is what I am aboutâ€?. Festive floral decorations, the perfect table setting - these are the little props which transform the house into a beautiful and welcoming home for family and friends. Decorative ceramics are part of this story, especially those with a touch of gold - they bring the feel good factor that unquestionably evokes luxury and wealth. A renowned Australian artist Johanna DeMaine throws small and exquisite porcelain vessels and decorates them with lustres and precious metals. Her work is delicate and laborious: some of her vessels are fired up to fifteen times! And, for a sheer flight of fancy Melanie Sherman. She incorporates historic drawings and patterns on her porcelain vessels and is not afraid to set different ideas in opposition. The way some of her ceramics are photographed is also memorable and evokes 17th century art. Collecting ceramics can also become highly profitable. A collection of ceramics by Lucie Rie and Hans Coper has been discovered recently in a modest suburban bungalow in Yorkshire, England, and they fetched ÂŁ1m on the open market. But buying ceramics, just like buying any other work of art, should always come from the heart, not from financial motivation. By Mia Frampton. Вы считате, что жизнь дает лучшее образование? Я учился у архитекторов, с которыми работал, а также у мастеров и профессионалов своего дела: плотников, кузнецов. В большинстве университетов этот вид образования вы не получите. Андалузскую архитектуру не преподают ни в одном университете Андалусии. В каком городе, по Вашему мнению, гармоничнее всего сосуществуют архитектура и природа? И почему? Я не знаю ни один город, где это принималось бы во внимание. Может быть Кармона, по чистой случайности. Архитектура, также как и живопись, дает человеку возможность самовыражения. Что Вы об этом думаете? Архитектура предоставляет гораздо больше возможностей в этом смысле, чем живопись. Это происходит благодаря ее полному визуальному господству над людьми, живущими в большинстве своем в городах. Что касается визуального аспекта повседневности, то люди находятся во власти окружающей их архитектуры. Зачастую это их подавляет.

Каково ваше видение будущего архитектуры? Архитектура на протяжении последних 50 лет переживала свои худшие времена, как результат преподавания, в котором было больше философии, чем самой архитектуры. Есть только один университет в Соединенных Штатах, где преподают настоящую архитектуру. Остальные продолжают идею разрушения прошлого и создания чего-то нового или, как они говорят, современного. Как мы можем видеть, результат почти всегда печален. Как Вы считаете доминирует ли сегодня Испания в области мировой архитектуры? Испания находится в такой же ситуации, как и весь мир. В Китае делают тоже самое, что и в Мотриле. Поэтому турист имеет все основания для того, чтобы больше бывать в старом городе, чем в новом. Являются ли два ансамбля Марбельи, разработанные Вами, лучшими примерами андалузской архитектуры? Я бы не сказал, что они лучшие. Насколько мне известно, они единственные. Donald Gray winner of the Rafael Manzano Martos Award 2015

He has won the award for his contribution to enriching and restoring Andalusian architecture, focusing on Marbella, Malaga and the Alpujarra. He has worked on such important projects as Las Lomas del Marbella Club, La Virginia Urbanization, Pitres Town Hall or La Tartana Hotel, both in Granada, amongst others. With prize money amounting to â‚Ź50,000 it is the award with the highest amount in Spain and was possible thanks to North American Patron Richard H. Driehaus who, impressed by the work of Cadiz-born architect Rafael Manzano, decided to support the conservation of his artistic heritage with the creation of an annual award. The Australian, now also Spanish, who arrived in Malaga in the late 50s, while making a living by teaching English, gradually fell in love with the architectural tradition of the Andalusian white villages.

The Australian architect, who has Spanish Nationality and is based in the Alpujarra región of Granada has won the Rafael Manzano Martos International Award for Classic Architecture and Restoration of Monuments. Mr. Gray, let us first congratulate you on your well-deserved award. What do you think is the secret of the impact of your career? There’s no secret. I have knowledge of design and I became interested in architecture or the actual building of houses as a result of my great admiration for Andalusian style buildings. I found something positive, even joyful, in its clean lines and perfect adaptation to the climate. You’re self-taught, you never went to University, is the Diploma of Life the best that one can obtain? Rather than self-taught I was taught by the master builders I worked with as well by craftsmen I dealt with: carpenters, blacksmiths. In most universities this kind of knowledge is unobtainable. Andalusian architecture is not taught in any Andalusian university. Which is the city which has best understood the coexistence between architecture and nature? And why? I can’t think of any that have taken this into consideration. Maybe Carmona by pure chance. Architecture, like painting, allows people to project themselves. Much more architecture than painting, due to its total visual domination of people who live in cities where most people do. As for the visual aspect of people’s daily experience (projection?) they are totally at the mercy of the buildings that surround them. All too often depressing.

What is your view regarding architecture of the future? Architecture has been getting worse for the last 50 years as a result of the way it is taught and the philosophy dominating its teaching. There is one university in the United States that teaches real architecture. The rest keep on with the idea of destroying the past and doing something new or as they call it contemporary. As we can see by having a look, the results are almost always bad. Does Spain lead the way nowadays in world architectural culture? Espaùa is in the same boat as everywhere else. They are doing the same kind of thing in China as in Motril. The tourists have good reasons for preferring to visit the old town rather than the new. Do you think the two areas in Marbella that you have designed are the best examples of the typical Andalusian Towns? It is difficult to say they are the best. As far as I know they are the only ones. Your favourite Andalucian pueblo (town)? Pueblo as opposed to cuidad, possibly Vejer de la Frontera. An architect you admire? Leon Krier, Quinlan Terry, Antonio Matias de Figueroa. Sorry, that’s three.

Другой “машиной для расслабления”, как назвал ее сам великий Корбюзье, который также является автором легендарного дивана Gran Comfor, можно назвать модель LC-4, настоящую жемчужину дизайна. Среди кресел непревзойденным кумиром остается “Барселона”, известнейшего архитектора Людвига Мис ван дер Роэ, который возглавлял знаменитую школу Баухаус между 1930 и 1933 годами. Изготовленное из нержавеющей стали и свиной кожи, оно было разработано для немецкого павильона на Международной ярмарке 1929 года, состоявшейся в каталонской столице. Animal skins and furs have always played an important role in human habitats. Their main role was purely functional, protecting from the cold and isolating from the hard and wet ground. With the development of civilization and the perfection of tanning techniques, its useful value begins to conquer new interior spaces. Over time, beyond its practicality, its aesthetic side begins to shine on its own merit, being a material which offers many possibilities for creating upon it: the furniture of several eras, covered with engraved leather, the result of an overflowing imagination and the polished ability of craftsmen, are true works of art of great beauty, which currently populate some of the world’s most important museum. However, being its most extended use in interior design, leather is found covering chairs, armchairs and sofas. In this scope, the piece which was a turning point was the famous Saddle Seat of the Gothic period, which from courts and palaces, soon entered more ‘mundane’ circles. In later eras, this noble material has been used to created emblematic furniture like Chesterfield sofas, - a model made by hand in the Capitoné style, the origin of which dates back to the 19th century, when the Count of Chesterfield ordered chairs which would allow noblemen to sit up straight and avoid uncomfortable and unseemly positions. Made in leather with a special condition, they are the condicio sine qua non for any setting which seeks neatness, sobriety and elegance. Another classical icon of quite later dates is the chaise longue with ottoman designed by the Eames couple in leather, wood and metal, which seduces with its classical beauty as much as with its ergonomic shapes, ideal for relaxing totally and absolutely.
Another “resting machine”, defined as such by its author, the great Corbusier, also the author of the mythical Gran Comfort sofa, is his LC-4 a true jewel in the crown of design. Amongst the reigning chairs which cannot be knocked off its throne is the Barcelona, by the extremely famous architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, who directed the famous Bauhaus School between 1930 and 1933. Made in stainless steel and pig leather, it was conceived for the German Pavilion of the 1929 International Fair held in the Catalan capital, this creation of his was accompanied by the following words from the designer: “It’s almost easier to build a skyscraper than it is a chair”. This same sentence can also be applied to the Wassily chair by Marcel Breuer, characterised by its “complicated simplicity”. Its name is linked to that of the famous painter Wassily Kandinsky, because, according to some theories, it was designed especially for him, while others point out that the author only gave him a sample. Whatever the truth may be, there is no doubt about it, it is a masterpiece of the union between metal and leather, Bauhaus’s most recognizable piece. Summing up, the interest of designers from such different periods is to a great extent due to differentiating characteristics of this noble material: as well as being durable and flexible, one of its main attractions is the patina which comes with use, which approaches it to the Wabi Sabi philosophy, the ideas of which in fact propose knowing how to appreciate the aging of things which follow the same path as their owners, the path marked by life itself.

Río Real Golf - одно из немногих богатых историей полей для гольфа на Коста-дель-Соль, имеющее лунки на первой линии у моря. Fifty years after its inauguration, the Rio Real Golf Hotel Marbella has announced plans to build a luxury beach club for golfers on the shore of the Mediterranean Sea.
Los Monteros Golf Course celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2015 (1965-2015) with the aim of building a luxury beach club with a swimming pool on the land next to the new Marbella seafront promenade, at Rio Real Beach, which has some of the most beautiful dunes of the Costa del Sol. “The opening is planned for Spring 2016” the club announced. At their 50th anniversary celebration, the management of Rio Real announced that “one of the most interesting projects on which we are currently working is a luxury beach club with a swimming pool right on the beach by the green of hole 4”. Back in 2011, the architect and golf course designer, Ignacio Garcia, designed a magnificent Beach Club upon the request of the owner of the Rio Real Golf Hotel Marbella, Luis Figueroa, Count of Quintanilla. The designed opened a new horizon for the club with the sparkling blue of the Mediterranean as a backdrop. Since then, the management of Rio Real have not found the time to choose an ideal location for its development; until now, when they have announced that it is once again one of the club’s most interesting projects. Ignacio Garcia’s design is a large building with two floors above ground and a basement with direct access to the golf course and the beach, equipped with the latest technology and services to make the establishment one of the best and most modern in Marbella and the Costa del Sol. It also has a designer pool with a bar and salt water available for hotel clients which makes the terrace of the Beach Club into the deck of a luxury ship moored by the sea, a kitchen with large windows which allow diners to view how dishes are prepared, a panoramic lift with views of the sea and the golf course which guarantees access to all users, and natural palm roof and a new access for vehicles with parking. Another feature of the Beach Club designed by Garcia is its appearance, efficient and respectful of the environment. The façades have large bay doors with no carpentry and rounded shapes made with architectural concrete, modern, refined and sustainable, moulded by the architect with a plastic and sculptural language, gentle on the eyes and noble to the touch, to withstand the hard sea climate and the high levels of salinity and humidity which come with the location. The Rio Real Golf Hotel is one of the Costa del Sol’s historical golf courses which has holes right by the sea. Located just three kilometres from the centre of Marbella, the golf course descends gently to the beach surrounded by uncontainable nature, full of different species of impressive pine trees, combined with gorgeous palm trees, lush bushes and colourful beds. However, the formidable facilities of the club house, the boutique hotel, the wellness centre, the golf academy and the tennis and padel tennis courts, which are further away from the shore. The construction of the beach club will allow the Rio Real Golf Hotel to open the doors of the club to the sea half a century after it was inaugurated and offer the best possible golfing experience on the Costa del Sol. Geoffrey Lopilato is a Belgian stylist of recognised prestige in Marbella, with 15 years of experience in the world of hairdressing, fashion design and aesthetics. He was also one of the first to introduce treatments based on ecological products from the exclusive John Masters Organic brand, imported from the United States. OM: What’s your speciality? GL: General image advice and natural colours for highlights and image changes using only organic products. OM: What do you think the secret to the projection of your career has been? GL: I think I quickly understood that success in this business comes from knowing how to work with a team. I am very lucky because my job is to make people happy because by improving their image they feel better. OM: Does age have much to do with hairstyles? GL: There are people who are very eccentric with their image and can carry it off whatever their age. A stylist should be an Image Consultant for criteria such as style, colour, technique, volume and shapes of hair, face and hairstyles. OM: What will the trend in hairstyling be this winter? Last year, on December 4th, new Mercado del Arte dedicated to cultural, social and charitable actions in Marbella, was inaugurated with an at least shocking exhibition agenda with works of Abdell Douglas. Created in NYC between 1980 and 1984, this work was only exhibited once in the US.
