EMPLOYMENT SKILLS CANNABIS TRAINING Okanagan College is now offering cannabis training courses that provide unique insights into the emerging industry of medicinal and recreational marijuana. Learn about the regulatory policies and business opportunities in this unfolding market, investment strategies for individual investors and best practices in pest management for cannabis production. As an employer, learn how to be prepared for managing the legalization of cannabis in the workplace. Students must be 19 years of age to register.

Cannabis and the Workplace

With the legalization of cannabis, employers must be prepared for how they will manage the resulting issues in the workplace. This workshop will explore the impact of this cultural shift as well as the relevant federal, provincial and municipal regulations governing the use of cannabis. The rights and responsibilities of employers and employees regarding recreational cannabis and the obligations for accommodation of medically prescribed marijuana will be discussed.

Legalization does not negate the employer’s right to set rules for the workplace and it is critical to proactively update policies regarding alcohol and drugs to include cannabis.
