Our educational day camps are small in class size and full of interactive fun and adventure. Campers can engage in areas such as trades, computer programming and coding, science and art. Explore LEGO™ Robotics

Let’s build amazing LEGO robots with real motors and sensors and then program your robots to make them move and do cool things! Using LEGO WeDo and Scratch, together we will explore basic programming and test your engineering skills. During this week you will create your own games and robots.

Calling all Mad Scientists. Throw on your lab coat, head to the laboratory and prepare to get messy! We will be making tons of crazy creations all in the name of science this week. Discover different solutions and reactions, develop hypotheses and make your very own experiments.

Mini Chef Academy

Do you love trying new things, creating tasty concoctions and playing with your food? At Mini Chef Academy you will do all of this and more. Campers will be taken on a culinary adventure blending, mixing, pouring, flipping, and of course, eating all the scrumptious, mouth-watering cuisine. Be sure to bring your imagination and appetite to this camp!

Are you ready to go for the GOLD? Get your blood pumping with races, challenges and competitions. We will take a step back in time and explore the origins of the world’s largest and one of the oldest international sporting events. What do the rings represent? How do they light the torch? You will challenge your fellow campers in different events every day. We will keep track of the points and at the end of the week we will have a closing ceremony with a podium and awards!

Bubble Extravaganza!

Who can make the biggest bubbles? Who has the best bubble formula? This week create different shapes, colours and sizes of bubbles ranging from frozen to oozing slime bubbles! Explore the science behind these floating wonders and experiment with multiple different mediums. Why do they float? What makes them fall and pop? By the end of this week you’ll have the answers to these questions.

Jr. Digital Animation Do you like doodling and day-dreaming about far-away fantasy worlds and colourful characters? If so, make your creations come to life this week! Star Wars™ Camp

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away… there was a camp, with kids who had active imaginations, cool ideas and a passion for sci-fi. They joined as a force to create the most amazing concepts and astounding creations. Some preferred to deepen their connection with Yoda, some worked on their leadership skills with Luke and some improved their electronic skills by fixing R2-D2. We will cover topics such as first aid, professional conduct for babysitters, leadership and difficult behaviours. Develop practical experience in changing diapers, feeding and dressing children and babies all while keeping you and the child safe. Successful candidates will receive Red Cross Stay Safe and Babysitter certificates. *Camper/student must be at least 11 years of age to receive the Red Cross Babysitter certification. Carpentry Projects for Girls

NEW

It’s hammer time! Nail down some new skills with the Women in Trades team. Are you creative and like working with your hands? This week we will build and create functional wood items and other crafts in the carpentry shop, using hand tools and power tools. Led by a Red Seal Endorsed trades instructor, learn how to use the tools of the trade to build your own creations. You will work alongside mentors in the Women in Trades program, who are currently in training to become carpenters. The projects you create you will take home so bring your ideas, get inspired and let’s get to work building with wood. This program is made possible with the support of OC Women in Trades and the Industry Training Authority (ITA) of British Columbia. Rebates may be available for families wishing to participate. Jr. Mod Design using Minecraft™

Do you play Minecraft? So do we! Have you ever wanted something that wasn’t part of the game? So have we! This week we will show you how to personalize Minecraft by creating datapacks. You will explore how to create and customize datapacks by changing textures, adding recipes and making new worlds and experiences. *Participants are expected to already have their own full version (Java Edition - PC/MAC version) Minecraft. net account on the first day of camp (including login, password and answer to the three security questions) for their personal use.

Is Roblox really just a game? This week we will explore the creative world of Roblox while also keeping in mind the world around us. You will make your own Roblox games, tackle build challenges and learn some coding in the programming language, Lua. Hone your problem solving skills then see how we can relate it all to our everyday life. What would it really take to build a city, or run a successful business or be a world renowned architect? Explore these ideas and let us power your imagination!

Movie Director Lights, Camera Action

Do you like taking videos? Would you like to direct a short movie? Immerse yourself into the creative aspects of filmmaking and take your vision from screenplay to screening. You and your Camp OC friends will write a storyline, develop characters and dialogue, give acting a try and explore other artistic and technical elements of film production. So, get your clapperboard ready for an epic movie making camp that will finish with your movie’s premiere at the Camp OC mini film festival at the end of the week.

Welcome campers! You have been accepted to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. 3D Design & Printing

This week we will explore the process of 3D design and printing. Using industry software we will tweak existing plans and create our own. We will talk about what 3D printing is used for and what materials you can print with. At the end of the week we will have a couple of your designs printed for you to show off to friends and family.

CampOC Intro to Trades

Have you ever wondered what the Trades are all about? If so, then you’re in luck with this camp! This week you will explore this fascinating world while gaining hands-on experience in approximately five different trades’ specialties. Campers will build a project that incorporates their creativity with carpentry, metal working, plumbing, concrete and electrical components. Learn some useful skills while gaining extensive access to the Trades’ facilities and technical training at Okanagan College. Who knows, you may find an interest you never knew you had! *Closed-toe shoes and long pants are required for the shop areas.

What to Bring to Camp

Please have your child bring a lunch and snacks to camp. Due to allergies, please do not include any nut snacks. Be sure to make note of allergies or a special diet on the Camp OC Informed Parental Consent form. Campers should dress in weather appropriate play clothes and should bring a hat, running shoes, sunscreen and water bottle. If your child’s camp requires additional items, they will be listed on their registration confirmation.

Refund Policy - NEW

Parents may request to withdraw their child from a camp by advising Camp OC by phone, email or in person. A full refund (less a $25 administration fee [per camp, per child]) will be issued if the request to withdraw is made at least five business days before the camp start date. Please note statutory holidays are not considered a business day. Requests made less than five business days before the camp start date will be refunded at a total of 50%, less a $25 administration fee (per camp, per child). No refund is provided after the camp start date unless there are extenuating circumstances. In such cases a written request for refund or a credit toward another camp, accompanied by appropriate documentation (i.e. medical note, etc.) must be submitted to the Associate Director for approval. No refund is provided for days missed or forgotten camps. Refunds will be paid by cheque and will be mailed to the parent. A $25 administration fee (per camp, per child) applies to all Camp OC cancellations, at any point in time.

Digital Animation

Model, animate and tell your story in 3D. Explore modeling and texturing techniques, learn the principles of animation and motion and how to apply it to your creations. Design characters that will jump off the screen and make them come alive using audio to produce your own animated short film.

Late/Absent

If your child will be absent, please notify camp staff by calling 250-545-7291, ext. 2850. It is the parent’s responsibility to make sure that their child gets signed in at the beginning of camp. You will not be notified if your child is absent from the program.

Entering Grade 10 to 12 in September

Coding in Java for Robotics

NEW

Are you interested in joining a high school robotics group? This camp will teach you the programming side of robotics using Java. Robotics uses a combined knowledge of the STEM topics (science, technology, engineering and mathematics). For all students Grade 10-12 interested in coding, electronics and engineering this is the camp for you.

The Informed Parental Consent Form will be emailed to you right after you register your child for camp. Please make sure to read it, fill it out and submit it right away.

Camp OC is committed to offering your child a fun, safe and educational experience. We will make every effort to ensure that your child’s camp experience is positive by providing quality content, instructors and facilities. If something is not meeting your expectations, please let us know as soon as possible and we will do our best to fix the situation.

Behaviour and No Bullying Policy

Okanagan College expects all campers to behave in a respectful way towards other campers, camp staff, equipment and camp facilities. Parents will be notified if their child’s behaviour is inappropriate. If the inappropriate behaviour continues, Okanagan College holds the right to remove the child from camp, without a refund.

Photo/Video Release

Grades 10-12

Camp OC designs camps to fit each age group’s needs and learning level. Please make sure to register your child in the appropriate age category. If exceptions need to be made, please contact the office.

Certified Education Assistant (CEA)/Support Person Requirements

Camp OC welcomes children of all abilities and with any exceptionalities to join our camps. We want your child to have a positive experience at Camp OC, therefore, it is important that we are notified of any medical, physical or behavioural condition/s that may affect your or other children’s safety at camp. Camp OC does not have trained CEAs on staff. If your child needs extra help, we will happily work with you to find the best solution. We suggest your child brings a helper to camp, that person is of course free of charge. Please note any condition on the Parental Consent Form and feel free to contact us at csnorth@okanagan.bc.ca to discuss.

Join us

Consider volunteering at Camp OC this summer. If you are between the ages of 14 and 18, and are currently enrolled at a middle or high school, you are eligible to volunteer at Camp OC. You can expect a summer full of fun and excitement. You will also earn volunteer credits towards graduation, as we report all volunteer hours back to the School District you are attending.
