Although an island surrounded by much larger cities, we continue as a small town with a “Spirit of Independence.” As you drive by 72nd and Q Streets, you may notice our Ralston Arena complex that hosts the Omaha Lancers, Omaha Beef and Omaha Rollergirls. The arena holds 3,500 to 4,000 people fore various types of events. We have two sheets of ice that provide entertainment for all ages, and the banquet area can be used for weddings, dinners and special gatherings. Behind the arena is a beautiful 270-unit apartment complex. The enthusiasm within Ralston grows

Independence Day Parade
The 2020 Independence Day parade looked drastically different! We brought the parade to the Ralston community! Ralston Police Department lead the way with City Official’s and Chamber driving golf carts, Ralston Volunteer Fire Department trucks and Shriners and 2020 Citizen of the Year Dennis and Lana Tribbie weaved their way through every neighborhood in Ralston! It was wonderful to see so many people in yards waving. Ralston Spirit was alive!

Fire Department Information
The Ralston Fire Department was organized in 1932 by several local residents and businessmen. Since that time the department has incorporated. The City of Ralston contracts with Ralston Fire & Rescue Inc. to provide fire suppression and advanced life support EMS. The Ralston Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad, Inc. is located at 7629 Park Drive in Ralston. Currently, the station consists of three
apparatus bays, with two housing engines and one housing ambulances and a rescue truck. The station has a large training room where members train and meetings are held. There is a bunk room in which firefighters can stay the night if they choose, a workout gym and an upstairs lounge with easy access to the training room, kitchen and bathrooms. The main administrative office is located on the first level.

Smoke Alarm Project
Jr. Fire Patrol
The Ralston Fire Department has partnered with the American Red Cross for a program called “Sound the Alarm.” This program allows us to install smoke alarms in Ralston residences free of charge. To request this service, call the fire station at 402-331-5369.
This program has been apart of the department for more then 30 years. It is held in the fall and teaches fourth grade students about fire and EMS topics and how to be safe by creating fire escape plans for your house and locating fire hazards.
Explorer Program The Ralston Fire Department has created an explorer program for kids between the ages of 14 and 18 in high school. These kids meet on Monday nights and learn every aspect of being a firefighter. For details, contact the fire station at 402-331-5369.
Stop The Bleed This program helps teach people of all ages what to do in a traumatic incident and the importance of stopping the bleed when someone has a serious injury. Multiple instructors make it possible to offer classes at your convenience.

Ralston Public Schools The History Of Ralston Public Schools
1908 Ralston’s first school opened, a two room, gray-framed building located near what is now 77th and Main Streets. 1925 Maywood School opened for kindergarten through eighth-grade students. 1953 The district expanded to K through 12 and opened its first K-12 facility at 82nd and Lakeview at a cost of about $400,000. 1960 Seymour Elementary opened at a cost of about $475,000. 2005 Ralston High School renovation and addition opened, at a cost of about $26.5 million.
